Was so completely awesome!
We have gone to Branson before, so I honestly did not expect to fall so in love with the place. But this trip was so different. Maybe it's because I've had enough of the identical strip malls, the same places, the same events every year, the people who think nothing of shitting all over you because they no longer need something from you. Maybe I'm just not in love with Dallas anymore, and am ready for a change?

Whatever it is, I did not want to leave Branson. We had so much fun, even though Marc thinks they have "too much nature there", lol.
We went to the Hamner Barber show, which was very entertaining. We rode the ducks, spent a couple of days at Silver Dollar City, and of course, went to the Titanic Museum! That last one was the best part of the trip, for Courtney and me. Even Marc was begging to go back, haha. We also toured the fish hatchery (they are very proud of the process) and a winery.
We also spent a lot of time driving around, just enjoying the scenery. It is so absolutely gorgeous there, I can't begin to describe it. Mountains, lakes, trees, beavers (lol, only Courtney and Jeff will get that one!), winding roads that give  glimpses of them all which took my breath away....

I have loathed small cities since I spent too much time in them as a teenager, but this is no ordinary small city by any stretch. And the business opportunities there are endless right now. I dunno, we did discuss how nice it would be to move there, but such a move would be risky and difficult. Still, I think I would jump at the chance, if it were offered.

The people there are so friendly, although there's a lot of religion around. That makes me a bit nervous, of course. I'm not about to start hiding my views on religion, not for anyone or anything.

Anyway, yeah, we had a wonderful vacation. I'm glad to be back, as I missed my animals and my house, and even a few people  ;)
And I'm so sorry I wasn't here to help a friend when she really needed me.
Other than that, I was very sad to leave the place that stole my heart.

...that my daughter is so amazing, and beautiful, and charming, and smart, and funny, and precious to me?
If you don't know her, you are truly missing out on a wonderful experience. If you do know her, you already know that I am speaking the truth.

I love my grrlie

Zap!

So, a huge statue of Jesus ...out in the middle of nowhere....gets hit by lightning. But wait! It's a miracle no one got hit by his falling arm! In the middle of nowhere in a storm....

LOL, ok so I can't stop laughing about that.

The show was absolutely amazing, Pauly brought the funny! He did some Weasel, he made fun of some of his movies, and then he did some raunchy stuff that I wasn't expecting, but it was great! We were definitely not disappointed.
Not only did I get his autograph on a Paulywood tshirt, but we got pictures!

We were sitting right by the stage, so had a great view:

Heidi, Cathi, Pauly, Me, and Kristin:

And since Jeff didn't get in that picture, Pauly INSISTED on taking one with just him....no fair! lol

We really had a great time with old and new friends and hope to get together again soon!

Well here is an easy way to get your feet wet:
Save Roe!

"Every day in America, women are forced to play the lottery when they walk into their neighborhood pharmacies and ask for Plan B emergency contraception (EC). Planned Parenthood is launching a nationwide campaign to protect women's health by ensuring that EC is available in every neighborhood in America. We need your help! Sign up to survey a story in your neighborhood now."

Man, it was WILD. There were so many lobbyists there, for so many different organizations, companies, and issues! And the way our day was scheduled, we all had meetings set up about an hour and a half apart, and the meetings generally lasted 20 minutes. So we were all left with a lot of standing around and talking time. I was wearing a "Prevention First" button, and a lot of other lobbyists asked me about my issues. Most people were very interested and surprised to learn some of the things on the table, and I was fascinated to hear what they had to say as well.
Nobody I talked to actually got to meet with any senators, as they were all on the floor. We were all meeting with aides and chiefs of staff. Most of the aides I talked to were very open to my issues, but they all worked for republicans.
One guy was very rude and disinterested, he was trying to get me and a couple of other ladies out of the office as quickly as possible. We insisted that he listen to us, but we were very calm and polite about it. One lady did get in his face a little, but in a "I don't want my tax dollars wasted" kind of way, not personally insulting. I should also mention that in that office, there was a huge sword leaning against a wall that had "Defense of Life" engraved on the hilt. Isn't it ironic, doncha think?
I did hear of one lobbyist who insulted a senator to his chief of staff and she was proud she got tossed out of the office. I thought that was ridiculous, she should have handled herself better, in my opinion.

The whole day was just chaotic, and so much FUN! There were moments that I was angry, moments that were hilarious....oh and I sat in the gallery for a while and watched the action on the floor. Man, there are some passionate people in Austin! Those people are absolutely crazy, and now I understand why very little actually gets accomplished in session.

One picture taken from the gallery:

And one of some war protestors in front of the Capitol! The sign says "WOMEN IN BLACK Standing for Peace"

Finally! After months of waiting, NARBC was even better than I imagined. I can't even begin to imagine how it will be in Daytona.

First, some AMAZING snakes!

The Paradox Axanthic, definitely best in show:

Unbelievable, isn't it?

Ebony and Ivory, hahaha. Well I do love that Ivory!

What a sweet face

The one I wanted to take home most of all....Albino Pinstripe:

Gorgeous Axanthic:

And of course, the Black Eyed Lucy from Constrictors Unlimited. I've seen this thing grow up over the last few shows:

And a picture of the bp.net crew at lunch:

I'm not in that one, of course, I'm taking the pic.

I *almost* bought a Tarantula on Sunday, but I decided to wait for the next Texas Reptiles show, since they'll be less expensive there. In the meantime, I'll get a good setup ready for whatever comes home with me.

Trying to find the words to memorialize Zane is really hard.
I guess the first thing most people noticed about him was how absolutely beautiful he was. And he knew it, of course.
The second thing would be how pissed he was at most humans for existing in HIS world. It took effort to get on Zane's good side, but once you got there, you were part of his family. And he was very protective of his family. Any new babies that came into the house were HIS babies, and ya better not mess with them. Jeff messed with Luna one day, and found out what it was like to have cat teeth inside his big toe! He would also come and meow at us if Marc was crying when he was a baby. He could not stand to hear Marc cry, and he let us know it.
The most special thing about Zane to me was the fact that he would play tag with me. And he was good at it, too, quite sneaky in his attacks. He would crack me up and give me a good workout at the same time.
The most annoying thing about Zane was his tendancy to completely ignore the "no getting on the countertops" rule the minute everyone went to bed. And if the dishwasher was on the drying cycle, you can bet Zane was on the counter enjoying the heat. He loved that so much that I always let him get away with it.
He was sick for over a year, but we were able to control it with medication. The last ten days, he just went downhill so fast, I still can't believe it happened. Today Dr. Ali and I decided that nothing we had tried was working, and to let Zane slowly starve to death would be cruel. Zane passed peacefully in the vet's office at 12:30 PM today. He will always be loved and missed, and never forgotten.

Well since school will be out on Monday, I was hoping to go dancing this Sunday night. But now I see the Church is having a special show this weekend, which means there won't be as much dancing. Bleh. I'd still kinda like to go, but will it be a waste of time? I really do prefer just dancing. I dunno, something to think about.

The good news is that I am now only 20 lbs away from my goal weight. Sweet! They say the last 20 are the hardest, but with the new year, I have a renewed sense of determination. I'm not really big on resolutions, but this year I think I have a few. Other than the last bit of weight loss, I'd really like to work on paying down our debt, and perhaps a bit less partying. Don't worry ya'll, I'm not going to become a housebound recluse, far from that! I think I just won't go out as MUCH.
