Every Wednesday night starting in June, Andy Rourke (formerly of the Smiths) and New York DJ, Olé Koretsky, will be manning the decks at Beauty Bar's flagship location in NYC. In recent months, Rourke and Koretsky have been building a relationship with the small Manhattan venue by getting involved in a series of successful nights featuring guests like Allan Dias (Public Image Ltd), DJ Ash, Michael T (Rated X), and Will Sergeant (Echo & the Bunnymen). Party goers can expect a lot more of the same, but, on a weekly basis, and may be able to see other familiar faces like Brazilian Girls' Jesse Murphy, DJ Alexander Technique, Paul Ryder of the Happy Mondays, and Sex Pistol Glen Matlock.

Revered bassist and song craftsman, Rourke has been honing his DJ skills for about six years, evolving considerably since the first North American DJ tour of 2004 with former band mate Mike Joyce. Moving across genres with fluidity, Rourke's sense of rhythm and melody become apparent. It will be no Haçienda, but hints of electro and classic dance cuts will be bleeding through the rock and post-punk oriented DJ sets thanks to Rourkey's Mancunian roots and Olé's background as club DJ and remix producer.

Free admission, an attractive crowd, affordable drinks and weekly drink specials, will round the evening off nicely. The party kicks off Wednesday June 10th. Plan for a hot summer in New York!

Friends, this is The Plan:

Echo and the Bunnymen are performing at Radio City Music Hall on Wednesday October 1st. They'll be playing their 1984 classic LP "Ocean Rain" in it's entirety, with a live orchestra just to keep things fresh.

Around 10PM (immediately after the show) we'll be all getting together at Beauty Bar for the Official Bunnymen after party. At the after party, Bunnymen guitarist, Will Sergeant will perform again (this time as a DJ). If you don't know much about Will's career, you should probably Google him... Echo and the Bunnymen and Electrafixion are just the tip of the Iceberg.

Will Sergeant will be sharing turn-table decks with New York's best known Synthpop/Darkwave selector, DJ ASH. Also on the DJ menu are Michael T (a man who needs no introdution), and your boy, Olé.

On a night Hosted by DJ JESS, you can also expect to see DJ Renochild (the Mancunian) playing in the front room, meet the women behind the racy false aristicracy events (and visuals), chat with Mike Dextro & Alexander Bassett (FakeBeat) about Chicago and NYC turntable tactics, and have your picture taken by Igor (DBB).

the theme is "goth//industrial//darkwave" basically the BANK circa 1995. speaking of the BANK, I actually asked DJ ASH to come down and play with us. ASH couldnt do it - maybe next time.

i will try to keep it dark - got some industrial, and heavy electro cuts. i actually own some Cleopatra releases but sadly on cassette only.

......brazilian girls' bassist, jesse murphy is coming back to do another night with us. jesse has impecable taste in music and spins everything from electro to soul. won't know how the mood will strike him until we get there this wednesday for soundcheck. i'll be playing classics and my favorite new joints, keeping my set more on the electronic tip. if the last "brazilian girls v. diesel & raw" party was any indication of what this wednesday will be like, we're all in for a fun time. hopefully the sound will be a little better. last wednesday i was joined by renochild and the smiths' mike joyce... the sound was amazing. the sound guy was extremely helpful. everything is getting better little by little.
