The Olympics has been great to watch. The Athletics are always my favourite part of the games (though I have watched a few of the other sports)

Usain Bolt's Gold Medal, World Record 100 Metres has been one of the highlights but today in the Women's 400 topped Mr Bolt.

Going into the final Sanya Richards was given the clear favourite but Christine Ohuruogu's stunning 400m victory turned the event on it's head. Richards had been leading almost the whole race after a blistering 300 metres but seemed to run out of gas. Ohuruogu on the other hand trailed entering the final 100 yet her strength prevailed and she blew past the field. Richards finished a disappointing third as Williams (Jam) took the Silver.

The British team may not have won many medals in the Bird's Nest Stadium but they have been a prescence in a number of finals. Of course the disappointment of Kelly Southerten, Paula Radcliffe not getting medals is there but  I think that the team might get something in the relays. Of course they are up against very tough opposition. The 4x400 metres relay for women is probably the best chance of getting a medal.

Other Sports stuff: Hamilton Accies began life in the Scottish Premier League with two victories and they are sitting nicely on top after two weeks of the season (hope they will do a lot better than their last visit to the big stage 19 years ago!).

Chelsea had a great start to the season with an impressive 4-0 win over Portsmouth. I'm glad that Lampard is going to be around and the addition of Deco has already paid off with the man scoring a superb strike for Chelsea's fourth goal of the game. He was named as the Man of the Match and rightly so.

The Denver Broncos were in action at the weekend playing at home against the Dallas Cowboys. The Broncos came out winners 23-13. QB Jay Cutler (pictured) was impressive as he completed 16-20-178-1TD

Sunday past saw the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. This year the Indianapolis Colts lined up against the Washington Redskins with the 'Skins coming off the victors.

Also in Canton this past weekend was the induction of the Class of 2008 into the Football Hall of Fame. What was especially nice this year was that Offensive Lineman Gary Zimmerman who played for the Vikings and the Broncos was enshrined into the Class of 2008. Zimmerman was the man resposnible for protecting John Elway from 1993-97.

Zimmerman played his College Football at Oregen and played in Los Angeles as part of the USFL before ending up in Minnesota and ended up winning two Super Bowl rings with the Denver Broncos before retiring at the end of the 1997 season.

Other Broncos news that is less celebratory is that John Lynch has left the Broncos after his playing time was going to be cut further in the up and coming season.

John Lynch has been in the NFL for 16 seasons and is still one of the most passionate players I've ever seen. He's hoping to play for another team.
Coach Shanahan said, "I don't think I've ever been with more of a pro than a guy like John Lynch," Shanahan said. "He's the type of guy that you look at in the future and say, 'Could this guy be the president of the United States?' He's that type of guy. I felt like I owed it to him, to look at his options, football, retirement, whatever he wants to do."
He was indeed a true pro.
With the retirement of Wide Receiver Rod Smith just a few weeks ago and the possible suspension of 3rd Year Wideout Brandon Marshall for possibly the opening three games of the season, the Broncos are going to have a tough season ahead. They managed to get rid of some dead wood in Javon Walker (who is now suited up for the Raiders!).
Denver open up their Pre-Season this Saturday against the Houston Texans.

So here I am in New York City with Kerstin. Only our second full day so far but it's been a total blast so far.

Yesterday we were up on the Empire State Building among other things and today we took a stroll down to the Bowery district to visit Joey Ramone Place. Also took in a trip to Ground Zero and Battery Park and a full trip up Broadway.

We were due to see Tom Petty but that fell through! Not to worry, we had a nice dinner at Miss K's on Fourth Avenue.

I'll try and update some more at another point in time.

I'd almost forgotten that David Beckham played football until on the news they were talking about his wonder goal against Kansas City.

Why they make a big fuss about it I'll never know. He actually gets paid to do this! Also I think I could have scored that goal. It is not such a spectacular goal at all. There have been a lot better goals than this one (including one by Beckham himself when he was with United). Watch the video:
