To celebrate the up and coming new releases by Mike Peters & The Alarm Mike is doing something real special:

Hello Everybody,

21 Days with Mike Peters begins tomorrow exclusively at www.thealarm.com

21 Days with Mike Peters is an interactive internet based event whereby I intend to use www.thealarm.com as a virtual stage over the course of the next 21 Days.

As well as posting videos and new information, I will be taking questions throughout, and hope that some interesting subjects arise.

21 Days with Mike Peters will utilise all of the current internet technologies to keep the lines of communication flowing. I hope the interactive nature of this event will create a mass of content that will focus attention on and about The Gathering, the upcoming UK tour and all the new Mike Peters / Alarm releases for 2009. As the event develops, a new www.thealarm.com will be unveiled by webmaster Steve Fulton.

You will be able to post questions at www.thealarm.com or send via email to alarmcalling@mac.com (Marked : 21 Days).

I am very excited about the prospect of meeting you all online and presenting to you the story behind all of the new releases scheduled for November 2nd.

There is so much to more say about Kilimanjaro, the upcoming tour and a ton of other subjects but I will leave it all until tomorrow and the commencement of 21 Days...........

Love, hope and strength,

Mike Peters

I sent off a question this morning and here's Mike's answer.

Mike Congrats to you, Jules and the team for Kilimanjaro. Always an inspiration! On the subject of the 21 Days project I was wondering how you determined what songs would appear on this album? Apart from 'Love Hope Strength', what song gave you the greatest joy in including it in this project and why? See you in Glasgow in November Doug Watson

Hi Doug, The determining factor behind the song choice on '21' was pretty much based on the songs that made it through to the 'live' concert. In fact there are more than '21' songs on the album 22 in fact because I couldn't leave one of them out...... The DVD has even more tracks and includes all of the video performances for tracks like 'New Home New Life' and a version of 'True Life' that was the original demo (and probably the best version of the song).....watch out for the video over the next few days.... it was shot at the time of the original poppy fields photo session in Wales that was the source of all the cover shots at the time..... I'm very proud of this album as I think it brings every song to life and is a vast improvement especially on the mixes / performances that were on the In The Poppy Fields album released in 2004 (check out 'Coming Home' and 'Trafficking' if you don't believe me), and although I still like the mix of 'Under Attack', the mixes of 'My Town' and 'Without A Fight' are more representative of the power of the songs as they developed on stage...... I'll be posting previews throughout the next three weeks so stay tuned.....Cheers Mike

The Olympics has been great to watch. The Athletics are always my favourite part of the games (though I have watched a few of the other sports)

Usain Bolt's Gold Medal, World Record 100 Metres has been one of the highlights but today in the Women's 400 topped Mr Bolt.

Going into the final Sanya Richards was given the clear favourite but Christine Ohuruogu's stunning 400m victory turned the event on it's head. Richards had been leading almost the whole race after a blistering 300 metres but seemed to run out of gas. Ohuruogu on the other hand trailed entering the final 100 yet her strength prevailed and she blew past the field. Richards finished a disappointing third as Williams (Jam) took the Silver.

The British team may not have won many medals in the Bird's Nest Stadium but they have been a prescence in a number of finals. Of course the disappointment of Kelly Southerten, Paula Radcliffe not getting medals is there but  I think that the team might get something in the relays. Of course they are up against very tough opposition. The 4x400 metres relay for women is probably the best chance of getting a medal.

Other Sports stuff: Hamilton Accies began life in the Scottish Premier League with two victories and they are sitting nicely on top after two weeks of the season (hope they will do a lot better than their last visit to the big stage 19 years ago!).

Chelsea had a great start to the season with an impressive 4-0 win over Portsmouth. I'm glad that Lampard is going to be around and the addition of Deco has already paid off with the man scoring a superb strike for Chelsea's fourth goal of the game. He was named as the Man of the Match and rightly so.

The Denver Broncos were in action at the weekend playing at home against the Dallas Cowboys. The Broncos came out winners 23-13. QB Jay Cutler (pictured) was impressive as he completed 16-20-178-1TD

Sunday past saw the annual Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio. This year the Indianapolis Colts lined up against the Washington Redskins with the 'Skins coming off the victors.

Also in Canton this past weekend was the induction of the Class of 2008 into the Football Hall of Fame. What was especially nice this year was that Offensive Lineman Gary Zimmerman who played for the Vikings and the Broncos was enshrined into the Class of 2008. Zimmerman was the man resposnible for protecting John Elway from 1993-97.

Zimmerman played his College Football at Oregen and played in Los Angeles as part of the USFL before ending up in Minnesota and ended up winning two Super Bowl rings with the Denver Broncos before retiring at the end of the 1997 season.

Other Broncos news that is less celebratory is that John Lynch has left the Broncos after his playing time was going to be cut further in the up and coming season.

John Lynch has been in the NFL for 16 seasons and is still one of the most passionate players I've ever seen. He's hoping to play for another team.
Coach Shanahan said, "I don't think I've ever been with more of a pro than a guy like John Lynch," Shanahan said. "He's the type of guy that you look at in the future and say, 'Could this guy be the president of the United States?' He's that type of guy. I felt like I owed it to him, to look at his options, football, retirement, whatever he wants to do."
He was indeed a true pro.
With the retirement of Wide Receiver Rod Smith just a few weeks ago and the possible suspension of 3rd Year Wideout Brandon Marshall for possibly the opening three games of the season, the Broncos are going to have a tough season ahead. They managed to get rid of some dead wood in Javon Walker (who is now suited up for the Raiders!).
Denver open up their Pre-Season this Saturday against the Houston Texans.
