Over the course of seven years, Droid Behavior has played major a role in the architecture of nightlife and music in Los Angeles and beyond. Droid events are a full sensory experience; a surging soundtrack designed and performed by the best talents in their field complimented by stunning visual and art installations that completely engulf the audience. Collaborations with like minded groups Smog, Compression, Avalon, DeeperMoods and Detund have all synced perfectly thus resulting in the integration of subcultures in electronic music all while pushing and shifting the norm. Such happenings have also been the platform for showcasing the talents of Surgeon, Speedy J, Modeselektor, Vex'd, Jahcoozi, DBX, Alexander Robotnick and Apparatt and others. As a record label, Droid has received international notoriety in their releases resulting in heavy play, charting, licensing and phenomenal support from such industry icons as Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, Speedy J, Chris Liebing, Joey Beltram, and Joel Mull. Droid Recordings has also captured the ear of the Media and is often described as the next wave of American techno.

Interface 29 will allow attendees to indulge in the experience, to share in the celebration of seven years of history, and to pay homage to those who have helped build a movement toward the future.

INTERFACE 29 - TALENT

ROOM ONE - TECHNO:HOUSE:MINIMAL:ACID

Chris Liebing (Live)
CLR :: Novamute :: Electric Deluxe // Frankfurt
Chris Liebing is Frankfurt's premier techno DJ.  As a 20-year veteran and early adopter of digital mixing and live song deconstruction, he's toured the world numerous times both solo and as part of the Collabs Live duo with Speedy J.  Liebing's productions and remixes appear on such revered labels as Novamute and Tresor and in the playlists of the world's top electronic DJs. Not only an established artist on many levels, Liebing has also been accredited to bringing true techno to the Ibiza crowds with his "Meganite" and "Be at Space" residencies over the last decade. Interface crowds should expect nothing less then epic sounds from this seasoned professional.

James Patrick vs M. Gervais (Live)
Timefog // MPLS
James Patrick is a longtime crusader for minimal techno and all kinds of electronic art. Through experimentation, he pushes the definitions of "forward thinking media" into new realms. Through both Djing and live performances worldwide, JP has developed and established his own brand of sleek, deep, and hypnotic electronic music. He also serves as creative director for the Microphono (www.microphono.com) and Timefog (www.timefog.net) labels.

For over twelve years DJ/producer/designer Mike Gervais has blazed an artistic trail ahead of his peers. Through the avid exploration of modern music technologies, his technique is constantly evolving. His performances deliver an extraordinary range of superlative sounds, swarming with bursts of real-time composition, looping, sampling, and effects. His DJ sets and original compositions have earned him critical acclaim from international producers and performers, earning him gigs across the United States and Canada. Mike serves as creative director for Timefog and has releases on Solar Cathedral Recordings, Nightlight Music, and Timefog.

Drumcell
Droid Behavior // LA
Founder of Droid Recordings and co-founder of Droid Behavior, Drumcell has been one of techno's greatest allies in Southern California in recent times. A graduate of the Musician's Institute and a long-time performer at parties in Southern California, Drumcell has been influenced by music from his earliest years. After being exposed to raves in the early 90s, He grew addicted to the sounds of industrial, acid house, and many forms of techno. Associating with the members of Acid Circus to form Droid Behavior as an event production group and record label was the next logical step to raise awareness for techno in the city and to help expose local Artists, established djs, and performers from around the country. When performing, Drumcell can be seen blurring the lines between a live and a DJ set by utilizing tools such as FX processors , samplers ,drum machines and other devices to weave a thick blend of acidic techno and aggressive but funky minimalist groove to ensure a frenzy amongst his listeners. Over the last 5 years Drumcell has rocked parties from big to small on a weekly basis in LA as well as gigs all over the U.S alongside such names as Kenny Larkin, john Tejada, Tim Xavier, Dan Bell, Ben Sims, Adam Beyer, Jeff Mills, Speedy J, Ritchie Hawtin, and Mathew Dear. He has also built quite a production resume with highly acclaimed releases and remixes on such labels as CLR, Kiddaz FM, Nitelite Music, and his own DROID recordings imprint. With the state of electronic music in North America leaning towards stripped down funk rather then progressive fluff these days, Droid has become the center for LA techno and Drumcell remains steadfast in his mission of putting this city on the global map.

Acid Circus (Live)
Droid Behavior // LA
In an industry where DJ's no longer dominate the action with pressed wax, live PAs have taken digital mixing to another level. No strangers to tweaking and freqing everything within earshot, Acid Circus have mastered the art of live performance: Dropping original music, custom remixes, re-edits, and samples from both current and classic tracks,  their unique and aggressive mix of electro, house, and every strain  of techno in between has blurred the lines of dj set and live act. Their raw precision performances have placed them alongside major players Magda, Jeff Mills, Konrad Black, John Tejada, Tony Rohr, Richard Devine, and Italo Boys at undergrounds, festivals, after parties and club nights all over California, Seattle, Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami, and Philadelphia. Their releases have been charted and heavily played by techno heavyweights Speedy J, Adam Beyer and Richie Hawtin.

Peyman vs Andrew Kelley
Autobrennt :: Weekend Club // LA-Berlin

Bickle
Lies Lies Lies // LA
Resident and Founder of LA's latest and only running techno weekly LIES LIES LIES, Bickle influences and supports techno and house fans in the city as promoter and performer.  He has
played along side and presented such names as Bloody Mary, Hyperactive, Soul Clap, Mike Vamp, Drumcell, DJ Heather, Dilo and Seuil and will continue his contributions to the nightlife landscape.

ROOM TWO - ELECTRO:EXPERIMENTAL:IDM

Kid 606 (Live)
Tigerbeat6 :: Tigerbass :: Violent Turd // Berlin
Inspired by hardcore techno, indie punk, noise rock, and a liberal dose of heavy metal, Kid606 explodes genres with his anything-goes approach to electronic music.  Ipecac, Mille Plateaux, Soul Jazz, and most notably his own Tibergbeat6 are among the many labels daring to put out the Kid606 sound, which has included digital hardcore in line with Atari Teenage Riot, back-to-basics techno, listening music, and collaborations with Matmos among others.  His 2009 full-length "Shout at the Döner" portrays the growth of his abrasive sound coupled with new dancefloor sensibilities. Kid606 will preform his current and classic material for Interface exclusively.

Planet Mu (Live)
Alphapup // LA

Deru (Live)
Ghostly Intl. // LA
Deru's music is best  described as the meeting place of hip-hop and IDM.  A CalArts music technology graduate, he now resides in LA and composes for TV, film, dance, and other performance art.  Deru co-owns the music and sound company "The Track Team," which has earned an MPSE Golden Reel Award for best sound design in 2009 (Avatar: The Last Airbender).  In 2008 he collaborated on a dance score for the Paris Opera Ballet with classical composer Joby Talbot.  Deru has released music on high profile labels such as Ghostly International, Merck, Neo Ouija, and Mille Plateaux.  Prepare for left field yet dance floor centered sounds to be performed in ways only Deru can.

Surachai vs Eustachian (Live)
Fathme Recs // Chicago - LA

Derek Michael vs Baseck (Live)

Luis Flores - Dain Brammage (Pivot Point / Acid Circus remix)

Available on Juno (and many other shops worldwide!)
http://www.juno.co.uk/

Available on Beatport
http://www.beatport.com/droidrecordings

OVERVIEW:

Veteran of Mexico's techno scene, Luis Flores makes his debut
appearance on the Droid Recordings label with Dain Brammage. As an
artist and musical catalyst, Luis has shared many ideals with the
members of Droid. After years of pushing innovating and non-conforming
concepts,  Luis has developed his own production style that is precise
and hypnotic with a healthy degree of
dance floor groove.

His title track is a deep journey into psychedelia and unearthly bass.
Brammage contains few essential elements, each tripped to perfection.
Sparse, eerie vocals surface through out the 6-minute sequence

Flores inside track "The Call" is an exercise in dark subtlety. Four
minutes in Flores introduces a rippling synth gate that pulls
listeners deeper into audio submission. Cerebral and essential.

Droid hit makers Drumcell and Audio Injection take the best elements
of Flores' music and raise them to new levels of club hype on their
re-interpretation of Dain Brammage. The duo delivers yet another
hands-in-the air anthem for the modern age.

UK recording artist Material Object, who made his musical debut via
Perc Trax, turns in a consistent, chugging remix of the title track.
The slow organ drone and heavy drum sequence develop perfectly for
fans of the long mix.

*PIVOT POINT / Acid Circus VIP DIGITAL MIX: Gaining momentum on the release schedule and once again taking the road less traveled, the Acid team take Dain Brammage away from dark warehouse corners and inject a heavy dose of deep synth funk into the main groove of their remix.

Luis Flores: in a big room way, this is pretty good especialy the pivot point remix -

Resident  Advisor / Review
"The Call" is a lurking predator of a techno track, but the Material Object remix of "Dain Brammage" steals the show. Droning on like the engine of some massive sea vessel, there's a numbing hum, but a forceful, teeth-rattling physicality. -- Chris Burkhalter -

Brendon Moeller (Third Ear / Echocord) Airplay
another solid release from droid. full support! -

Brothers’ Vibe Airplay
The pivot Point track works for me - DEF play! -

Dustin Zahn (Enemy Records) Airplay
Full support as usual for the Droid boys! It's a bit on the ravier side for my tastes, but fuck it, I'll play it out! -

Ectomorph (Interdimensional Transmissions) Airplay
"the call" is amazing, a dream track, the darkness and deepness, but so sexy and rocking, a gem. -

Josh Wink (Ovum Recordings) Airplay
Like the pivot remix the best of the bunch. The others are a bit tough for me. -

http://www.juno.co.uk/

Available on Beatport

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/168833/cell_injection_ep

OVERVIEW:

Innovators of the LA warehouse sound, Audio Injection and Drumcell keep up with the sharp series of current droid releases on the Cell Injection EP. Already on the permanent playlists of heavy weights Speedy J, Adam Beyer, Richie Hawtin, and Paco Osuna and countless others, droid's primary production group deliver consistancy for quality seekers.

The original mix is a heavy and paced production, with super stereo percusion, and subtle space verbs building up to a smooth yet effective break down. The beat is thick and funky enough to guarantee a well rocked sound system as well.

Acid Circus, still jacking, sheds a new skin on this deep phase remix of the orignal.
This unique rendition pumps out a coma enducing saw wave. heavy verb washes
fill out the sequence and a solid drum track provides the thump. A flanged break builds
the rhythm up to a quick breakdown before slamming the dancefloor back to reality.

NY export Tim Xavier strips the heavy layers from his mix but retains the
breakdown for max effect. perfect for ambigious mood settings and also works as
a transitional track.

Tony Rohr sticks to whats true and takes the best elements of Cell Injection while
adding a throw back bassline for hype party moments. True Analog tribute.

*JPLS DIGITAL EXCLUSIVE MIX......M_nus experimentalist rips apart and recontructs
the DROID sound on this digital only mix.

*Dustin Zahn DIGITAL VIP MIX....Zahn with the late addition turns in a clanky hypnotic mix sure turn heads, open eyes and blow out ears. Sucha a cold groove and so essential.

Raveline MAGAZINE           Review / MAY

Tora Tora Tora :: Lazerslut :: Kiddaz.fm // Berlin

Born and raised in Frankfurt, Miro was heavily influenced by Sven Vath's legendary Omen residency in the early to mid 90's. His early releases on hard edged labels Things to Come, PCP, and Acardipane put his electronic music career on the map. In 2006 Miro refined his style and found a home for his deep and psychotic minimized style tracks on labels TORA TORA TORA, Steve Stoll's Proper NYC, and his own imprint Lazerslut. Miro will preform live his diverse musical styles and influence from the last 10 years.

CHRIS DE LUCA vs PHON.O aka CLP (BOYSNOIZE :: SHITKATAPULT // BERLIN) TOUR presented by Droid Behavior + Friendly Integration @ LIES x3

CLP - BOYSNOIZE :: SHITKATAPULT // BERLIN

Inseparable. De Luca (formerly of Funkstörung) and Phon.o joined forces in the spring of 2006. Since then, they've been rocking clubs  and festivals all over Europe with their ass-kicking sets as "Chris de Luca vs. Phon.o". This unconventional combination of intergalactic hip hop, ghetto beats, sexy booty IDM and dirty techno goes beyond typical genre boundaries. Berlin, there is new sh*t in town and it aint your dogs.

Soon after, the two guys locked themselves in a studio and worked like crazy apes on new tracks for their collaborative album called Supercontinental, to be released on October 31, 2008 on the label Shitkatapult. Some outstanding MCs simply couldn't resist their monkey charm and joined the pack, namely: Yo Majesty, the freshest new signing on Domino Records, Zion I, Data MC, Tunde Olaniran, the South African Spoek, Cerebral Vortex, Damaged Good$, Kovas, White Gold Princess, Hustle Heads and the 16-year-old youngster Rayzaflo. No wonder it took a little more time than usual to get this gangster squad together and organized!

To kill time in between intercontinental MC coordination, CLP let club sound magician Boys Noize hire them for a 12” guest performance on Boysnoize Records. In no time the friendly boy pulled two of their favorite remixers out of a hat: the Duo Infernale Diplo vs. Dj Sega and the incredible Mix Hell. And – abracadabra – from nowhere the result will appear on September 15, 2008 on vinyl and digitally. And because of all the thundering applause, the two decided to drop some letters and call themselves CLP from now on. It’s time to CLaP!

Sandwell District Tour

REGIS vs FUNCTION live PA

Sandwell District
// UK + Berlin

SANDWELL DISTRICT is the underground techno label of the moment. With support from all quarters (Dettmann + Klock, Laurent Garnier, Jeff Mills, and Speedy J to name a few) the label collapses techno's boundaries and rebuilds the genre in
its own unique image. As stalwarts of the hugely influential label
Downwards, Funtion and Regis have pushed the dance music envelope for over a decade. Sandwell District however is a beast of its own, a label of the here and now. Pushing new boundaries with each EP, Sandwell has earned label of the month in both DJ Mag and Resident Advisor and caused waves within the industry. Function and Regis' approach to live/dj work similarly challenges convention, with a combined digital / analogue environment allowing both artists to feed off one
another during their performance.

We were a bit reluctant to write a biography for Daniel Steinberg. His

releases over the past few years on Microfon, Grand Petrol, and

Stylerockets brought him international success, his phenomenal

attitude towards music and the people who live for it makes him a

darling of the club scene, and it is pretty certain that the future

brings him well-deserved accolades, if not knighthood. Both critics

and those just out to dance and hear amazing music are in love with

the development of his sound. Those who want more can look forward to

Daniel's new releases in the coming months and more remixes for the

insatiable beat masters at Stylerockets. It's nearly impossible to

capture the caliber and character of Daniel Steinberg in only one

paragraph, but we'll let the music finish his story.

Justin Long_Chicago //

.dotbleep : Robsoul : Tuning Spork

During the past 15 years, Justin has accomplished more than most could

imagine in the house music industry. In the early 90‚s, Justin began

DJing at underground events throughout the Midwest with the likes of

Derrick Carter, Cajmere and Traxx. Soon thereafter, gigs across Europe

and South America followed and Justin's name became synonymous with

Chicago House. Along with performing and producing (most notably under

the No Assembly Firm and Chicago's Wasted Youth monikers), Justin

works in conjunction with 20:20 Vision to run his own record

label, .Dotbleep which features artists such as: Derrick Carter, Mazi,

Trade Marq and Phil Weeks. Justin continues to push the boundaries of

jacking house music, while constantly refining himself as an artist.
