Well here I am ,trying to garner some support for Christinas' amazing journey to the north pole, so I thought I would write a blog and get my account here started!
Well what on earth makes a person want to walk to the north pole? I have to say that there are few things on earth that I absoloutley cannot stand and being freezing cold is one of them, so fair play to Christina your a braver man than me thats for sure!! I am assuming that you have of course gone completely mad ,but then that is the assumption of a mad man so what can be drawn from it is anyones guess, mostly I wanted this blog to be about good luck!!
But.............
What is good luck when you are walking to the north pole? Having a sunny morning?? Not losing your fingers and toes to frostbite? Having your lighter work when you stop for elevenses? You see the fact of the matter is that if you are walking to the north pole almost everything that you will need, want and most things that will happen will have been carefully planned and measured etc so luck I suppose shouldn't come in to it!
Damn! I may have to ponder the point of this blog a little more while I re-heat last nights delicious seafood Thai green curry (I made from scratch!) for lunch.......................They always say that yesterdays curry always tastes better today, I agree. Although the exception to this is the time I made a seafood curry (the same as this one) with Sainsbury's seafood mix and broke my tooth in half on the pearl of mis-fortune that had been growing in one of the mussels. Did I sue them? No of course not I wouldn't know how, and besides I think the whole idea of litigation over a pearl in your seafood laughable, I mean if it had been a bit bigger and hadn't broken my tooth , it would have been the lucky star buy of the week! Perhaps this is the point of the blog, if you are passing a sainsburys on the way to the North Pole Christina and are thinking of buying a freeze-dried seafood mix for your elevenses, then here's wishing you all the good luck in the world!
I think you need to consider carefully what to take with you if it were me walking to the north pole, I would never dream of setting out with out some sturdy monster slippers for after all, if you were a polar bear you would hardly want to eat a walker wearing monster slippers would you? I rather think you would be more inclined to share a coca cola and some witty repartee, second on my personal list of must have accessories would be of course a very comfortable smoking jacket, those small two man tents can get a little fuggy and you wouldnt want to arrive at the north pole smelling of shag now would you, I mean what would the neighbours think? For personal entertainment One should forgoe the rather obvious Ipod as batteries will be in short supply and try to enter into a more live vibe, this can be achieved with a simple comb and paper, which is light weight and fuctional, should you have trouble with this, the solitude should give you enough time to learn to play the spoons or as a last resort you could bmake yourself a traditional eskimo kazzoo.
Now we all know that personal hygene on a trip like this can be a little fraught with danger, my advice to you would be borrow your Grandmothers lucky razor and shave everyday as a build up of frost on your moustaches will do you no favours and will weaken your Twinings breakfast tea considerably.
I am sure your trip will go well if you heed some of this important advice!!
bon voyage!
hugs

Current mood: relaxed
Category: Life
I thought I would write a blog and say hi, it's been a while how are ya?? It's Sunday morning and the sun is streaming through the bedroom window, the air's a bit smokey which is pretty in the sunlight but my days of smoking are numbered so I will opened the window and let the crisp morning air in and listen to some music. Things are pretty good right now I have a relaxed day ahead before I get stuck back into the web design coursework. There will be some great music at inSpirals today but I wont be there to see it which is a bummer , but I am sure kish will hold down the fort admirably.Sunday sessions at Inspiral lounge in Camden Town have become a real institution over the past year, I am never without surprise at the amount of talented people that turn up and Jam out there stuff in a really proffessional manner, it's been a blessing to be able to engineer and record them so I always miss it when I am not there. I havent been writing much music lately which is a shame because I feel really inspired but it's a bit rubbish doing it on your own, and having the time to lock myself up and go lunatic with noise for a week which is what I really need is not an option for another 6 months. I have to finish this course and get a job!! Yeah I bet you never thought you would hear that from me, but it's what I want , maybe I'm settling down a bit, which is no bad thing at 35. DON'T GET ME WRONG THERE'S LIFE IN THE OLD DOG YET!! But I am enjoying the less hectic pace of life at the moment, a heart attack is no longer a heart beat away.Let me tell you the relief of that feeling alone is all the buzz I need at the moment.Information feeels good when it makes sense, and I get a kick out of my course. I think some people just do better at learning new stuff when they get older, school was never my favourite place but the value of a good education is something that's not lost on me, not now anyways but I guess when you have to start wearing glasses to read your books, you have got to an age when what your reading should be worth remembering. The sun on my back as I sit at my desk feels amazing, its like being massaged by Mother Nature, calming and reassuring. Nothing else feels like the sun on you, especially in spring time when you step into the shade and its still very cold. The first warm days after the winter are always the best ones, replenishing your spirit, ambition, energy, I'm not sure I could imagine anywhere so beautiful as England in springtime. You should visit if you haven't already , but bring a brolly , just in case.
hope your well and feeling loved.xx

Hi all you fluffy musoes we have taken over the promotion of inspirals lounge in Camden town on Sundays and have an open stage/mic policy for musicians, if you would like to play and have your live set recorded, please get in touch with me and we will book you to play, I can usually have your set emailed to you within a week as an mp3 file.there isn't any money in it but there is a lot of love and a great crowd of people to play to! we also have poetry and other interesting stuff too!!
Unfortunately we don't have a big stage so we cant really have a full drum kit etc but for small bands or acoustic groups it's perfect and you can always bring hand percussion.
Lastly we will be streaming the Sunday sessions live to the web so you should get some great exposure for your considerable talents!!
hope your well and feeling loved!
hugs as ever

Ok so last week I bitched a bit about the hippies at Inspirals, but i can safely say with my hand on my heart that my faith in all things open toed was restored this week, when instead of a free for all melt down at the sunday sesh , we had an amazing array of very talented musicians indeed,as usual i arrived early at 1 oclock and played one of my favourite chill out sessions I've played for ages, and dya know why? It went like this, I plugged in my laptop and digital mixer, and then thought bollox to this, mixing's for tossers, so I went on you tube and played 4 hours of stonking tunes off you tube!! haha yeah it's cheating and the dj purists amongst you can heckle but I was having fun and the cafe filled up and stayed full all day!! Kish turned up late with some excuse that he had a bad back up, let's face it we all know he was wanking in the lounge which was ok , as William our other compadre never even showed up or called.(fucking guy i kick his dog!) And i have to say the best thing about kish turning up was the hour or so of stretched out minimal tech dub he played, Man the guy was rocking ze anus to the loungecore bone..... Fucking magic! So after while at about 7 we set the stage up with all new cables etc, get the room sounding magic then we were blessed by an amazing array of great musicians, Although it would be wrong to single anyone out as they were all fucking amazing(which is a rare thing on open nights) I have to say that some of my favourites this week were,The Irrepresible Rebecca Hope and her percussionist Hugo,Dor Wanda,(our host for the evening), and some crazy guy from Bristol called Stanley who had us in stitches with these fucked up comedy songs man he was good and very unnassuming which is nice. What blew me away as much as anything were the staff at inspirals who not only grafted there tits/nuts off all day but then out of the blue ,Pink GEM, one of the amazing doers at inspirals got up an sang three tracks of opera accapello!!! I shit you not! i was completley gobsmacked and as those of you that know me know, these things just don't happen, i don't get gob smacked often. All the rest were amazing and Kindly allowed me to record there stuff for posterity and for the Music 4 Children/Inspirals live album which is coming soon so stay tuned for that.
See ya next sunday for some more inspired stuff hugs as ever easy (Eclectic Electric)xxx

Well this week saw Kish and I at inspirals lounge camden for another day and night of wierdness, I arrived early in the afternoon and had 3 great hours of djing loungeor which i love to death, we played a great set of all genre world music electronica etc, and had a whale of a time doing it. It seems that it may be a regular slot for us and i am up for it. In the evening they have an accoustic singer songwriter poetry thing which i have very foolishly volunteered to engineer, but last night i have to say it decended into chaos very quickly with no-one really knowing whos on when with what instruments etc, to be frank a nightmare ensued where the stage became a kind of free for all, and everyone was looking at us to make it sound good which is ok if the hippies had brought there own leads that work, and left the mics how i had set them up, half way through the jam session a very large very drunk bloke gets up onto the stage and starts stomping all over the leads, i watched in horror as i lost channel after channel on the mixer, and to be honest any hope of an emoliant gig after that was gone as i hadnt a clue which leads were working and which not. There were some fantastic artists after the jam session finished but they had to put up with crunching connections etc, which i felt was a real shame, had the stage not descended into chaos early in the night they could have had a great gig, the last straw was a beer spilt on the stage soaking all my guitar extension s and stuff, i wanted to go home.
next week i am having very strict rules for the stage because with just a little bit of control the sunday sesh at inspirals could become a classic and there are some great unsigned acts to be recorded which is what i wanna do, everybody deserves a chance to shine even mis behaved hippies.xx love n hugs as ever easy.xx

Ok after a European mash up last weekend that started in Switzerland then ended up in Berlin at the Fusion festival i can proudly announce that i found one of the best live bands i have heard in years, talk about leftfield, this band is a Fusion (very apt) of techno electro funk and indie. the link is below and i emplore you to go and hook up with them.
http://www.myspace.com/bodibill
The trip started when we arrived in Berlin, we got a coach to the festival and from the moment we passed through the gates i knew it was going to be a great one, the party was set on an old wartime airfield with the stages in enclosed aircraft hangars covered with grass so as to be invisible from the air which was great as the superb quality soundsystems faced out to the crowds and the Germans know how to make a rig sound good believe me, we had a spare ticket and at the last moment one of my greatest mates john fish, booked a ticket to fly, we waited for him to arrive by taking a shiny and exploring the site.Whispers friend Veronica had bagged us a space in the camp site next to the main arena , which was lucky as with 50,000 ish people there the camping was a bit fraught. We took a tour of the whole site and i have to say every single place we stopped sounded amazing, and the people were so cool with us, i can't speak a word of german but everyone we spoke to tried making us feel good by trying some english and taking the piss in sign language, hehe i like Germans. The main arena was decked out beautifully with a marvellous pulsating flower light show in the middle of arena with a whopping 30- 50k of chrystal clear rig smashing us down to the floor with superb techno played by very talented DJ's. And the laser made me want to fall over. On saturday night we went to see BODI BILL because Veronica our German hostess and all her friends had said they were not be missed. As we waited for the band to come on there was a high tension vibe going through the crowd, there were around 4000 people in front of the stage and it felt like they were about to pop! I didn't know what to expect so I rolled a zoot and waited patiently,I had been told they were an indie techno folk fusion and to be honest i was slighty skeptical, after all it's difficult to imagine these three styles fusing successfully. HOWEVER.
The first note to come out of the system just said enough. The link above is there page and at this point i urge you to abandon this blog and go and have a listen, it may not be your taste in music and to be honest i would never have said it was mine, unless i had seen them live. There are alot of great bands out there but you know that some bands release cracking studio albums and then are shit live. HERE IS A BAND THAT IS AMAZING LIVE! So i cant wait to hear there album which i brought on line today. I can't believe it will be bad as i saw what they cando on stage and if they have half as much presence in the studio as they do on stage i beleive it will be the buy of the year. I can barely remember most of the set as i had my eyes closed and was dancing in a kalaedescope of pulsating metallic colours but every time i opened my eyes the band were bouncing off the stage walls, you could see that all they wanted to do was play music and thats all a band should want to do.
see you on the dance floor!!
by the way i am playing on the 27th july at inspirals camden so if ya fancy a bit of fun and raising your awareness come to the http://www.whaleofatime.org gig in camden. hugs as ever now back to my studying. easy.xxx

Today I noticed that in less than a year 14000 people took the time to read the insane ramblings of a lunatic mind that i (and my alter ego mandy at weekends) have spilled shamelessly on to these cyber pages!!! Its really weird that I just happened to pop onto this page when it was 14000 not 14001 or 13999. Thanks to everyone who had a read of and a bit of input to this madness, I am really quite shocked that people would even bother coming back for more, but if you did have a read then my guess is that you will probably have had a little giggle to! And that's the point, the only reason for it really is to have a laugh and share just how mental life is with you guys.
By the way i think my player may gett to 20000plays this week to! how odd to celebrations to be had in the same week!! GREAT! All my tunes are free to download so help you self! and if your the 20000th let me know i have a surprise for you!!
Hope your week is turning out as bright and excititing as mine!!

Well it seems I have to move on and find a new place to live which won't be easy as I am studying for my Web Design qualifications and have 6 months left to do it.
Being a skint artist at this point in my life is not what I need, I have a shit load of work to do on my course and no money for a deposit etc, then I have to find someone willing to put up with my cat,(who's adorable).
I have a feeling that a difficult part of my life is about to begin, but hey ho ce la vie, it won't be the first or the last for sure, if I can get a new housemate by the end of the month then it may be a reprieve but really you just kind of know when it's time to go and I am definatley feeling it like a cold breeze on the back of my neck. It's kind of pleasant on a sunny day and but feels like shit the rest of the time.
Perhaps things will resolve themselves, these things have a habit of presenting themselves for soloution when you mull them over a bit.
So if ya need a place to live or you have a room for a student and a cat. let me know! cheers.
Having got the mouldy bit out of the way, I hope your all well and feeling loved!!
It's amazing how good it feels just saying that.xx

Today i deleted my entire my space message history page by page, there were nearly 200 pages 2000 messages,As i went through them i was reminded of how i felt at given times over the last two years, and little snickets of conversations came flooding back to me, some made me giggle and some made me quite sad, sad because those correspondents friendships whatever meant a lot at the time and yet i was sitting and deleting them like junk mail which couldn't be further from the truth, yet still i deleted all but maybe 10 really special ones. The whole exercise though seemed to offer a great relief at the end of it, not least because deleting 2000 messages in groups of 10 is very labour intensive, but it felt as though i was clearing my own history of something, i'm not sure what though. I haven't been on my space for some months now as i got sucked in to that other pile of shite facebook for a while and i realised that that to has very little to offer in the way of communication, or not enough of as is most often the case, non- communication. It seems to me that in this digital cyberspace that we live in of social networking for the sake of it, non-communication is a valuable asset that we don't seem to have any more, the power to ignore, insulate ourselves, or just generally be alone because we need to seems to have been sacrificed for the ever expanding friends i don't know list. My space music is a little different because it offers us opportunities to explore and indulge our need to create and enjoy creativity where as the other networks seem to edge into your everyday existence like a gossip column that never ends,do we need this digital companion more than we need to be alone with our own thoughts? It worries me that we might, and worries me more that it's considered entertainment and it really worries me that the ease of how we are entertained as a race ,a conciousness, now boils down to a status statement like.............
Iain is..... pissed off coz the cat has a verouka or Jane is.... constipated but should have a shit in the morning.
I hope you feel your worth more than that, and now that i will be here again fairly regularly, i look forward to some great conversations again and exercising a little mental banter and look forward to being entertained by all your great music.
AS I HAVE A N EMPTY IN BOX NOW START A CONVERSATION!! GO ON DARE YOU BECAUSE STATUS UPDATES DON'T TALK BACK!!
hugs as ever
