WHO & WHY: Edge of Urge, on behalf of DREAMS, is holding a first-of-its-kind fundraiser. “During these challenging times, we are all concerned about our personal economic situations as well as the state of our community. Through this event, we at Edge of Urge want to help shift the perception of fashion’s role in our society by encouraging innovative, responsible design and innovative, responsible consumerism. This event offers the opportunity to buy and sell locally as well as helping Wilmington’s DREAMS Center for Art Education (http://www.dreamswilmington.org/) raise money to expand, reach out to more children, and reinforce that the arts are a viable way to achieve success in life. We have a tremendous respect for what DREAMS does within our community, and we love the idea of holding an event that will benefit people of all ages.” –Jessie Williams, owner, Edge of Urge.
DREAMS Center for the Arts, a proud winner of the 2007 Coming Up Taller Award, provides free-of-charge, high-quality classes in the creative, visual and performing arts to over 500 economically disadvantaged children ages 8-17 who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience the many benefits of an arts education. Through artists-in-residence, youth entrepreneurship and public art opportunities, the DREAMS Center for
Arts Education transforms children in need into creative, committed citizens—one child
at a time. Offering classes at their inner-city center as well as at public housing, city
recreation centers, and schools in three counties, the program creates a cornerstone on which children that have experienced poverty, neglect or abuse can build a future filled with promise and hope.
“I could not afford classes, but still wanted my child to benefit from art classes.”
—Dreams Parent
“When I draw, my heart feels good.” —Student, age 11
“DREAMS has given us a place to hang out after school where everyone understands you.”

Freezepop has always been something of an oxymoron: embraced by both hipsters and nerds; serious about irony; and retro-futuristic. A synth band in a guitar videogame, singing pop songs about rock. And it all somehow makes sense when you listen to the music. Formed in Boston in the summer of 1999, Freezepop is comprised of Liz Enthusiasm (vocalist/designer), the Duke of Pannekoeken (producer/vocalist/programmer), and Sean Drinkwater (synthesizers/programmer/vocalist). Within eight months, Freezepop had released two homemade EPs and started a DIY machine that would become one of their trademarks. Their debut album, 2000’s Freezepop Forever, was released domestically on their own label, Archenemy, as well as licensed in Europe by the Spanish indiepop label Elefant. Several more EPs followed, and in 2004, Freezepop released their sophomore album, Fancy Ultra•Fresh. After nearly eight years of self-releasing their CDs, they partnered with Rykodisc/Cordless Recordings for their most recent album, Future Future Future Perfect. Their single “Less Talk More Rokk” was the iTunes #4 dance/electronic song of 2007, and the band recently swept the Boston Phoenix/WFNX Best Music Poll 2008, winning the local categories of Best Band, Best Live Act, and Best Album.
You have probably heard them in the massively popular Guitar Hero series, Dance Dance Revolution, and the new MTV Games release Rock Band. Freezepop’s songs are also featured in television shows as diverse as Showtime’s drama The L Word, and the PBS children’s series Arthur.
Freezepop have a strong connection with their fans and have toured extensively, playing energetic, fun, and chaotic shows throughout North America and Europe. The band has used the internet to reach out to new listeners and stay in touch with the diverse ranks of old-schoolers. Freezepop.com features enough content to keep visitors entertained for hours; the band’s MySpace page is still maintained by the band members themselves, and has racked up over 60,000 friends and more than four million plays.
