Poor little kid. He was soooooo devastated by the sudden death of his alcoholic, abusive father that he didn't get to say goodbye.
Oh, poor Brandon, can he please, please go to his father's funeral so he can say goodbye?
Hey, Brandon, maybe you should have thought of how you shot Larry King in the back of the head in front of all your classmates and robbed his own family of being able to say goodbye because of YOU!
Oh poor Brandon, who taunted and teased Larry King in school wasn't able to take it when all of the sudden Larry teased him back. Boo freaking hoo.
Maybe you can be rehabilitated, but it doesn't mean you don't deserve to do time for the crime you committed. I don't feel sorry for you. Sure, your parents failed you, but you choose that lifestyle. Your mom was a crack head and your dad an alcoholic. That doesn't mean it's an excuse for you to be just like your loser parents.
I hope you rot in jail.

Ever since my article in the paper came out, I've been getting asked what my screen name is for the Ventura County Star:
I DON'T HAVE ONE.
I don't post on their website.
As a matter of fact, I'm a big critic of their lack of journalistic standards and business practices.
I'm surprised as anyone else that they even ran the interview.
The end.

Obama's budget, while I do not agree with everything (particularly bailing out businesses, I'm a capitalist) his budget includes the war on Iraq budget, something Bush left out in his. These numbers are more accurate because Obama is putting everything on the table. Had Bush added the war on Iraq in his budget, it would be similar to Obama's. To date, $656.1 billion dollars are set for the war in Iraq. Don't forget that. If some of you studied math in school, do the math. If you guys are bitching about the big number, maybe you should have paid more attention when we went to war in Iraq. Can't have it both ways here. It's too late for that. As Tom Leykis would say: You can't cut taxes and increase spending. As I would say:Well, duh!

Some wacky ladies came to my door preaching about "their" god.
But that's not why they are wacky. If they have faith, good for them!
I call them wacky because I said I'm an atheist and they looked at me with a shock, as if all of the sudden I had spinach in my teeth.
They actually gasped in shock! I guess they expected me so somewhat believe and be one of those non-practicing believers.
"Do you see birds? Do you believe in birds?"-her
"Yes, I see birds, I just don't believe in fairytales."-me
"Fairytales?"-her
"And I don't condone organized religion that justifies bigotry, especially against my gay friends."-me
"Oh, that's your personal problem, not ours, we aren't here to tell you something."-her
"Problem? Why is being gay a problem? The only people who think it's a problem are people like YOU."-me
I then told her to enjoy the nice day and stop bothering me with her problems.

Greetings! Shameless plug here: I was interviewed for our local paper regarding our website, 805vigilantes.com. I went from doing the website and marketing to Editor of the site, and I get to write editorials aside from overseeing the content. We were interviewed along with our friends at CrimeStoppers and the Oxnard Police Department, who I get to work with in order for our site to be successful. The interview is here: http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2009/mar/23/web-sites-help-ventura-county-law-enforcement/(The funny and ironic thing about this interview is that my recent editorial piece recently called out the Ventura County Star for their lack of ethics and conflict of interest, which is the most popular post on our site at the moment.
I was also banned from their site in 2007. The other contributor to our blog was banned in 2008.
I read the paper, if only for information on criminal cases, but isn't that funny?)UpdateWhen I first wrote about the conflict of interest between the Star and one of their lawyers, I was "warned" that I should take the editorial down because they might not run the interview and that my website needed the publicity. My reply? "I was banned from posting on the Star's website, I'll be damned if I'm going to be censored on my own blog." I didn't back down, and needless to say, they still ran the interview. My editorial: http://805vigilantes.blogspot.com/2009/03/lack-of-ethics-ventura-county-star.html Moral of the storyDo what is right, not what is easy!

I find this amusing:
Mormons are set on not giving gay people the right to get married, but last time I checked, if anyone has any say in what traditional marriage is, it's not the Mormons!
They not only have a history of polygamy, but also, of racism up until recently against dark colored people, not exclusive to African Americans, but dark people in general.
Catholics are set on telling others how bad birth control is and not to have premarital sex and what not, but last time I checked, it was Catholic priests who had the high rate of child sexual abuse.
Funniest one is how Christians think Scientologist are loony. Pot. Kettle. Black.
The problem with these groups is that they feel they need to tell everyone to follow what they believe, even those who don't.
Listen, if Catholics want to tell Catholics not to have abortions, fine. If Mormons want to tell other Mormons not to be gay and get married, fine.
But that's as far as your rights go. You can't tell other people to follow what you follow.
Some of you like to debate your beliefs with me, that's fine. But I'm not your religion and I don't plan to be.
Don't tell me to 'read' and 'study' it because I did. I am a fan of theology. I'm just not brainwashed. Some of you need to read about other religions other than your own and open up your world a little bit.
Start with Egyptian theology. You might be quite surprised to find out who Jesus was.......or wasn't.

Idiot is probably too nice of a word. Desirie Osuna was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after crashing her car. She was on her way home from Hollywood at about 5:30am. Did I forget to mention she's 20 years old?Listen, little girl, I'm 29. I'm not allowed to drink and drive, what makes you think you can? You think you're above the law? I'm not above the law. Why should you be? If you think you are old enough to party it up in Hollywood, you need to learn how to be responsible. Obviously, you are not. You deserve the guilt that is going to eat you up inside for the rest of your life for being such an idiot. I know. Some of you are going to be play the "only God can judge her." Screw that. Drinking and driving is socially acceptable because we have too many morons feeling sorry for this girl. Don't. 22 year old Elisa Failauga was the passenger when Desirie crashed her car. She died at the scene.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090306/ap_on_go_co/capitol_pitt_stop Seriously. That was the title of an Associated Press article. She should have been a writer for some gossip rag. Brad Pitt has worked endlessly helping rebuild New Orleans and met with the President over his charity MakeitRightNola.org, but you couldn't tell that that was the point of the visit, since the writer, Laurie Kellman, didn't bring it up until over half way through the article. What happened to real journalism? This was from the Associate Press! Low standards much?

The debate on Prop 8 reared its ugly head again. I am an atheist. I don't care what you believe in, and I won't force my views on you. But if you will keep judging others, I will most certainly be the first to point out that you should look in the mirror. Here is my view and let me make this loud and clear to all you bigots out there:"If you don't believe in gay marriage, don't be gay and don't get married! But butt out of someone else's life!" I am not going to apologize for calling people bigots. I left the Mormon church and you should have heard what I told the sisters and the elders when I said they were bigots and very un American. The best they could come up with was "Are you a lesbian?" "No, I'm not." I replied. "Then why do you care if they get married?" They tried. "I can ask you bigots the same thing. Why do YOU care?" I am just in awe of the level of intolerance from self righteous Christians (I am including Catholics, Mormons, Jews and Muslims in the Christian foundation because they believe in the same God.) Religions can't even get along with each other, who was I to think that they would even live a Christian lifestyle and learn to not judge others and butt out? Religion is not even mentioned in the Bible, yet Catholics and Christians alike have told me why one is "more real" that the other. This country was not founded on Christian beliefs, people came here to escape religious persecution. The only people who think that are the ones that haven't picked up a history book, and probably pick up a Bible and think it's considered history. Here's a newsflash: Virgin Mary was just a horny 16 year old teenager. She got pregnant and lied. Girls are like that. Think about the taboo it was in the early 1900's to have a child out of wedlock. Now imagine how it must have been 2,000 years ago. She lied and you believed her. Remember Ashely Todd? If you believe virgins can get pregnant, I can see how the talking snake makes sense. But hey, if you want a real Godly nation, move to Israel. I'm sure it's nothing but love, flowers and God over there. What can possibly go wrong? Next time you start an argument with "but it's in the Bible," I will respond and say "well, according to my Harry Potter book......"Go ahead and believe what you want, but you might want to worry about living your own life before you judge someone else's. I'll stop pointing out the hypocrisy if you stop living yours. Cheers! ♥ e.

You're driving your car and it starts to make a weird noise.
"Ugh. Please don't let it be the brakes, please don't let it be the brakes!"
Lucky for you, while it is the brakes, the noise is not enough that the brakes are failing yet.
Turns out you just need new pads. No problem. You don't have the money right now so you wait until payday.
Payday comes around and it turns out that by then, you need new brakes completely since you waited so long! You actually wore down the pads even more.
Replacing the brakes obviously cost more than just replacing the pads.
While I don't agree with everything in the stimulus plan, I feel that we are beyond not doing anything.
We wore down the pads and need new breaks.
And it's silly to call Obama a Socialist because he wants to give Americans access to health care. I mean, spending money on the infrastructure of fixing America makes more sense than dumping billions into Iraq for no reason.
And what does Iraq have to show for it?
Obviously careless planning is what got us into trouble and someone had to pull back the chains.
It's time we stop being Republicans and Democrats and start being Americans.
But if we are going to point fingers, the Republicans really don't have a place to say anything. They want us to bail out banks but not people but at the same time, don't want to pay for it?
How convenient.

Here's the cartoon in question: There has been a lot of controversy following this political cartoon. I am a fan of current events, and I am always watching the news, or reading the news, all around different outlets. I try not to get sucked into all the bias, but one of my favorite websites has been Cagle.com, a collection of great political cartoons. He was one of the first people I followed on twitter. @dcagleWhen I first saw this cartoon, Obama didn't even cross my mind! I mean, all I kept hearing was about the chimp, Travis, who got shot by a police officer because he was attacking the friend of his owner. When people started saying this was racist, I asked why. How does Obama even fit into the picture? If that were to be Obama, the cartoon doesn't even make sense! The only "link" was that people are assuming the chimp was supposed to be Obama. Here's my challenge:If everyone is crying foul over Obama supposedly being portrayed as a chimp, why didn't anyone protest all the times we called Bush a chimp? Hypocrites. Stop crying racism at every little thing! Google "bush chimp" and then "obama chimp." Even when you google Obama + chimp, Bush/chimp comes up. Sooner or later, we will have a chimp running this country, because enough morons aren't following up on current events and only read what they want to read. For the record, this Republican voted for Obama, but believe it or not, I do fill up my brain with things other than Obama. If you are bitching about the cartoon, I hope that you will find the time to also denounce these since they also insulted our last President: For goodness sakes', there was a whole freaking website dedicated to Bush as a chimp! http://www.bushorchimp.com/The cartoon's message was similar to those Geico commercials:a variant of the "So simple, a caveman could do it" tag line. Let me spell it out for you:"The stimulus bill was so stupidly written it must have been written by a chimp." And if some of you actually bothered to be following up on the stimulus bill (which I am not a supporter of), you would see the humor in this cartoon. Bush was also compared to Beavis & Butthead & Alfred E Neuman! Presidents are always going to be the butt of political satire, but some of you missed the boat on this one because it wasn't his cartoon.

Current mood: amused
I don't read my local paper. Not much anyway. After my friend and I were "banned" from posting on their forums, I just never really visited. But don't you just love internet tough guys? My local paper's website has a bunch of them. I was the only one who had MY picture and MY real name. Yesterday was a funny moment, though. One of the many "self proclaimed-educated-christian-conservatives" said I didn't know what I was talking about because I am a supporter of Obama. My friends and I read the comments and emails out loud and had a good time laughing. One of the posters, forum poster "iseepeoples" (Brenda Vignaroli from Oxnard) then threw the "well, so and so spent time in Iraq" card. Really? Do you want me to pull the same card? Apparently they know nothing about me and my family. I could have said the same thing, but arguing with idiots is time consuming. Especially when they spend more time arguing about issues that have nothing to do with the topics (my citizenship status). Originally, the conversation started about Obama "flubbing" the oath, so I went in there correcting the person who watches too much Faux. I reminded her that it was Justice Roberts who made the mistake, not the other way around. Now, any other person who watched any other news source would have known. Unless you watched Faux, who basically said he wasn't President because he "screwed" up. After my response, Brenda asked me about my citizenship status because I looked different and had a weird name. Wow, lady, if your racism wasn't obvious, it sure was in that question. She also said I came in with my journalistic talents but I wasn't fooling anyone. I never claimed to be a journalist. I guess she was impressed that I knew how to spell and write a coherent sentence, unlike anything she's ever written. But she seemed really intent in not sticking to the subject. And she said I had "quite a resume" because apparently, she knows how to use the internets. I would say it's because I'm not always on the internet complaining. I gave her a virtual cookie for using the "google." I don't mind them arguing on the internet forums. At least it keeps them out of my hair. But it felt good to tell her I was born in Ventura and my name is French. We all know how much those "self proclaimed-educated-christian-conservatives" hate the French. (Well, they basically hate everything that is not a christian conservative.) -Signed, Proud Social Liberal/Fiscal Conservative/Atheist-American who believes in justice, not torture ps People can call Obama a secret Muslim all they want. It was Bush who has killed more people than 9/11 ever did, and on top of that, he killed people who had nothing to do with it. Christian conservatives my @ss. UpdateThat lady Brenda is a piece of work. She thinks Iraq & 9/11 are one and the same and has called those in Gitmo "America's enemies" and that the US is out there protecting us from "them." Whoa. And she wonders why I don't debate with idiots. Someone should tell her we went to Iraq to "liberate" Iraqis, not because they had any ties to Afghanistan or 9/11 or Bin Laden. Second UpdateGotta love being right. Check it out.
