November 26, 2009 - Thursday
I’m up at 3am again sneaking in a few hours of work time before the Thanksgiving festivities begin, lots of new and exciting things happening here at the Exalted Beauty studio, so one must do what they can to keep up! I truly have so much to be thankful for this year, dark circles and swollen eyes are but a small price to pay to have it all!

For instance, the special time spent with Caden yesterday, helping to make his vision come to fruition was something I’m very thankful for. My imaginative child wanted to make a turkey medallion with me, so here is the result of our Mother and Son collaboration:

Adorable right?

Hope you all are enjoying the holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Nancy’s Exalted Beauty Medallion party was a titillating triumph! This is the part where I was going to post a naughty picture of Jackie suggestively modeling her new Snowflake medallion but instead I will present these very lovely G rated shots of my glamorous Aunt In Law Nancy and The Divine Mz. Jacquelyn posing in the sun room where I’ve had the honor of setting up not one, but two medallion exhibitions this year (Thank you Nancy!!!):

Here’s a closer look at my beautiful in-laws modeling their new Snowflake medallions:

While you can see for yourself how completely adorable Nancy and Jackie are I’m afraid my photos did not do the set up in Nancy’s stunning new sun room justice. It really did look great! I attempted to provide a more through visual report for the event; but unfortunately my few photos of the room with its crowd of medallion shoppers turned out as a blur (I was obviously quite distracted!).

Nancy’s Medallion party truly was a wonderful event with a phenomenal turn out. I was delighted to see many familiar faces and thrilled to be introduced to some really great new women! Many of my previous party hostesses were in attendance as well (The Exalted Royalty!). It was really an amazing time! I had so much fun! Everyone greatly enjoyed Nancy’s unique menu of delicious home made soups, along with her fabulous gourmet accouterments and deserts, not to mention the giant mountain of chocolate chip cookies which were absolutely to die for! Rhonda’s colorful array of Jello Shots were also big hit! An entertaining evening was had by all. Nancy is totally the hostesses with the mostess! And a huge thank you to Jackie for all of her hard work setting up and taking down the extensive medallion display! You Ladies Rock!

The Sales Trends for the evening leaned heavily toward the new Snowflake Medallion collection (only 12 left!) Nancy requested (she obviously has exquisite taste and I should honor all of her collection requests!). Pieces from the Pearl Blossom collection were also a big hit and then the remaining sales tended to be spread evenly across the rest of the collections (of which there are a total of 49 to date). White was the most purchased color of the evening. This result is in stark contrast to the Sales Trends at my recent AVA Wildflower Meadow exhibition. Kiku (AVA’s Exhibition coordinator) reported that COLOR was what everyone was seeking from the Wildflower Medallion collection, along with an inclination toward the two-tone pieces and the more whimsical designs with balls.

Sales from both events have been posted, click HERE to see the updated Exalted Beauty Medallion catalogs.

I’m heading to AVA this morning to take down my Wildflower Meadow exhibition. However, I thought it would be fun to let “Wildflower Meadow” continue as a Virtual Exhibition here on the blog. Check out the excellent display Kiku and Jack made of my work:

You might notice that there are quite a few new (never before seen mystery) works on the walls. The new pieces are the result of the previously mentioned “Hare Obsession”. I will be revealing the Meadow Tales series very soon. Stay Tuned!

If you missed the "Wildflower Meadow" exhibition and would still like a chance to see my work in person this Holiday season, I’ll have medallions and paintings on display at:

Here is the first look at the new Exalted Beauty Syncopation Medallion collection:

“Syncopation has been an important element of musical composition since at least the Middle Ages. For some musical styles, such as jazz and ragtime, syncopation is an essential part of their character.”

Wondering how Syncopation came to fruition?
Here’s a glimpse into my creative process: My main goal was to create something fun and abstract that coordinated well with some new accent beads I recently purchased. The first thought was to mimic the splashy painterly feel of the new beads. But somehow the original concept evolved and the medallions took on a life of their own. While I was sculpting, an odd feeling of familiarity set in, as if there were a memory or sensation tugging at my subconscious, but the answer as to what these medallions were, or felt like, refused to surface. At first I was thinking circuitry, motherboards or even alien spaceships, but it was my son Caden who determined that these pieces looked like brass instruments! That was the “ah-ha!” instant. He’s obviously brilliant. So I shared this with my friend Nina and she came up with the equally brilliant collection title, Syncopation. Love it. So there you have it, the story of how the Exalted Beauty Syncopation Medallions came to be.

[FYI: I will not be accepting orders until after Nancy’s Medallion party on Friday, November 20th. One of the perks of being a Exalted Beauty Medallion Party Hostess is getting first dibs on new collections.]

Since I’m in a Snowflake state of mind I thought I would also share this amazing Snowflake photography: SnowCrystals.com (which I found extremely inspirational) and one of my winter favorites:

Of all the things I’ve done to try to make an impression on my son, the costumes, the birthday parties, the creative playtime, the crazy adventures, acting as his lifelong personal slave… the thing Caden is most impressed with? This spot in yesterday’s Valley News:

“Daddy look! Mama’s Famous!”

This is the last week of the “Wildflower Meadow” exhibition at AVA.

October 30, 2009 - Friday
Well it’s that time of year again and my darling boy once again made a special costume request of his Mama. This year my wild 6 year old decided he wanted to be a Rotten Rocker (also referred to as a Dead Rock Star) for Halloween. After all of the Rocktacular Birthday Bash hoopla I wasn’t surprised by his request but I was stumped as to what exactly it was that he wanted. Quite a bit of time was spent searching the Internet trying to determine what his vision was and it seemed that it was somewhere between Beetle Juice and Punk so I did my absolute best to fulfill his vivid imaginings and came up with this skullorific vision:

You are probably wondering why Halloween came a few days early this year? Well, to be honest, I wanted to shoot the costume while it was still fresh and when we could take the time to get good photos instead of snapping rushed pictures at Caden’s various chaotic Halloween events. Caden will have two Halloween parties tomorrow, as well as a multitude of Halloween events to go to on Saturday. I am sure there will be lots of playing and running around (ADD sugar) and I doubt that my questionable sewing techniques will hold up to much of the inevitable wear and tear. Whatever the case, having our little pre-Halloween Cemetery photo shoot this afternoon extended Caden’s much loved holiday experience by yet another day. He had an absolute blast and really got into the part. By the way – that’s the *Rocker* face! My little 6 year old totally thinks he is a Bad Ass! What can I say? Hilarious! He LOVES the camera and I really enjoyed seeing my creation in action. It was a great time for us both! :)

Have a Happy Halloween Everyone!

I want to send out a humongous thank you to everyone who came to my Opening Reception this past Saturday night at AVA Gallery and Art Center! My heart swelled with joy at the sight of each and every one of your beautiful kind faces! I was truly overwhelmed by the enormous show of support from our wonderful friends and family. I cannot even express how much it means to me that so many of you were able to attend! I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you! And of course I also want to say a great big thank you to all of you who were able to stop by the show before and after the opening! Your calls, comments and e-mails are very much appreciated! You people totally rock!

Here are a few shots from the opening:

Jody was in charge of the camera for most of the evening and while he did take quite a few photos only two were not blurry! Oh well! It was a great time and I will remember it always!

If you did not get a chance to attend the opening, the Wildflower Meadow exhibition will continue to be on display:
