I want to send out a humongous thank you to everyone who came to my Opening Reception this past Saturday night at AVA Gallery and Art Center! My heart swelled with joy at the sight of each and every one of your beautiful kind faces! I was truly overwhelmed by the enormous show of support from our wonderful friends and family. I cannot even express how much it means to me that so many of you were able to attend! I am eternally grateful to each and every one of you! And of course I also want to say a great big thank you to all of you who were able to stop by the show before and after the opening! Your calls, comments and e-mails are very much appreciated! You people totally rock!
Here are a few shots from the opening:

Jody was in charge of the camera for most of the evening and while he did take quite a few photos only two were not blurry! Oh well! It was a great time and I will remember it always!
If you did not get a chance to attend the opening, the Wildflower Meadow exhibition will continue to be on display: October 23rd - November 18th 2009

Are you someone who becomes completely immersed in the object of their obsession?

Obviously I am. I’ve been thinking, dreaming and talking bunnies ever since last November. My studio walls are jam-packed with almost 200 hare studies and my head is swimming with hare research. And until recently, I was somewhat plagued with what I was supposed to *DO* with all of this Hare-Brained nonsense… The decision was made for me when, one day earlier this summer they just escaped from the studio out into my Wildflower Meadow! And so with the painting “House in the Meadow” the series Meadow Tales began. I will be introducing the first six Meadow Tales pieces at my upcoming “Wildflower Meadow” exhibition along with a wide selection of works from the Poppy series, The Garden Room series, The Night Garden series and the Floral Series.
I hope you will join us for “Wildflower Meadow”

You are cordially invited to my upcoming solo exhibition: “Wildflower Meadow”
The Wildflower Meadow Exhibition is a collection of art inspired by our land in Plainfield, New Hampshire. We have cultivated a diverse world of flora and fauna that is unlike any other I have experienced. It is a place where wildlife flourishes and Mother Nature reigns. Survival of the fittest applies to all that reside in our bit of paradise; each and every day brings forth new beauty and amazing discoveries to captivate the mind and soul and sets the imagination on fire. There is something very human about the countenance of a Wildflower; they convey the infinite power and strength of beauty while also alluding to life’s inevitable fragility. A universe of meaning can be discovered in a single blossom. One can contemplate the cycle of life, the simple splendor of nature’s bounty or the complexity of its color, structure and design. As an artist, I am fascinated by all of Mother Nature’s magnificent creations and feel blessed to experience such profound grace in my own Wildflower Meadow throughout the seasons. I am continually inspired by the world I helped to germinate and have attempted to express and share these thoughts, visions and emotions through my paintings and the Exalted Beauty Medallions. Opening Reception: Saturday, October 24th, 5-7pm On Display: October 23rd - November 18th 2009 AVA Gallery and Art Center 11 Bank Street Lebanon, NH 03766 (603) 448-3117 www.avagallery.org

With all of the rain we have had lately the woodland mushrooms have been thriving:

I love how they look both organic and architectural, like little fairy villages or alien dwellings.

As I went about my search for autumn botanical pretties to photograph, I was stalked by (what felt like) hundreds of Chipmunks. Here is one of my vigilant observers:

If they were going to follow me around like that, the least they could have done was sit still for a few pictures! I’m not sure what all the chatter was about but I’m thinking they were feeling a bit territorial about their winter stash – it is getting to be that time of year again.

The Purple-stemmed Aster is one of the last flowers to bloom in the Wildflower Meadow:

I love the shades of purple and green against the fall foliage.

These orange stripy legged Orb Weavers have been showing up everywhere lately:

Even inside the mail box! Eeks! I have a love hate relationship with spiders; I find them both fascinating and beautiful but undeniably creepy!
