Just wanted to show off my favorite custom costume commission this year, Lydia's red wedding gown from Beetlejuice, it was a lot of work, but so much fun to make and I'm really proud of how it turned out :)

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Of course I've always loved the book--and just went to see the film and loved that too :)

So, I've been inspired to add some Where The Wild Things Are accessories to my shop--Wild Things faux fur gloves (complete with felt 'claws' :) and legwarmers:

I've been crazy busy doing LOTS of custom costuming this season (when I get finished after the weekend will post some of my favorites here :)  AND, also working on my own costume, Giselle's wedding gown from Enchanted--quite a project!--will be posting pictures of that too! :)

Wishing everyone a fun and fantastic Samhain!

Okay, well, I've decided that it's too difficult to make a decision, so I'm going to be making *both* Sarah's ballgown from Labyrinth AND Giselles wedding gown from Enchanted!

They are similar in many ways, so I'm going to be working on them both at the same time, and then once they are finished decide which one I will wear (and then I will always have the other one too--after all, a girl never has too many occasions to dress up like a princess, right?! :P

I've picked up the fabric
, and am working from these two vintage patterns, altering and combining as needed:

Also, I wanted to show off the necklace and earrings for the labyrinth gown, --there will be silver leaves added to the necklace, and the combs should be finished this weekend, I'll post them too as soon as I have pictures!

Okay, while doing research on Sarah's ballgown from Labyrinth, I found clips from the Disney film "Enchanted" and noticed that Giselle's wedding gown in that film is very similar:

Now, my dilemma is that I also watched Enchanted for the first time, and fell in love with the film!!  So...hmmm...do I want to be Sarah or Giselle for halloween?!

(I loved this dress, too...I think I'll have to make both!)

Okay, so I've decided I'm set on making Sarah's gown from the ballroom scene of Labyrinth as my halloween costume this year (and maybe wearing it to the Good Faeries/Bad Faeries ball in January, too! :)

(If anyone knows where I can get reasonably priced replicas of the headdress and jewelry, please let me know--otherwise I will be trying my hand at making those as well.)

I'm in the research stages now, and am using some pieces from two wedding gown patterns I've found that I think will make the gown as close to the the movie as possible...I'll be posting here as I go, so stay tuned!

Also, if any of you have made this gown and have any suggestions, tips or tricks that you would like to pass along, I'm all ears! :)

Here's the scene...enjoy!
