So we just did the first half of a "mini tour" with our boys from NC, Eight Foot Stride. The shows were in Wilmington and Sneads Ferry, NC. I've never done one of these before so bare with me.
We started the trip Friday afternoon in the pouring rain which under normal circumstances wouldn't have been too bad but our vans heater core is bad which caused an entirely new set of issues. Our defrost sprays a little bit of antifreeze when it is on now and it decided to cover the window and make it next to impossible to see. We stopped at an advanced auto parts and bot a squiggie (sp?) and some anti-fog wipes. After about an hour and a half of driving and squiggiing (i have no idea how to spell that) the windows we finally figured out how to get the anti-fog wipes to work and it was clear sailing from there. About 3 hours later we pulled into Lucky's Pub and sat in the parking lot for about an hour before anybody else showed up. That was the first time in our bands history we have been early to something haha.
Lucky's is one helluva club for those who haven't been there. They took great care of us and have a great sound system. Ironclad from Jville NC opened the show and got the crowd ready to roll. We were up second and it was great to look out into the crowd and see a few familiar faces, especially since we hadn't been to Wilmington in over a year. The set went on and we made it through without too many problems which makes it a good night. Eight Foot Stride took the stage right after us and I think I am still slightly blind in my right eye from their stage lights. They put on a good show and got the home crowd worked into a frenzy. Clone Cycle finished off the night with a tight set and if you haven't seen them before their drummer is amazing!
After the show Jason from EFS was nice enough to let us head back to his house and crash for the night. I'm not sure if he knew what he was getting into or not lol.
Saturday since we were already within 15 minutes of the venue and some of us were a little on the hungover side (damn that jagermeister), we spent the entire day being "tourists". We made it down to the beach but it was a little too cold to really take advantage of it so we hit up a surf shop which turned out to be the wrong decision. Erik and Jason got the bright idea of wanting to purchase some Heelies (those stupid shoes with wheels). Nowhere in the area had them so we drove out to Jacksonville, NC and store after store they were nowhere to be found. Next thing we knew it was 7:30 and we had killed about 4 hours looking for those damn shoes and it was time to go to the venue.
Once again Eight Foot Stride pulled through for us and hooked up a show at Cocktails and Diamonds after our original show was cancelled the day before. Before the show even got started the crazyness of the night was in full effect. I was kidnapped by a 60 year old drunk woman, and I mean drunk. She made me walk her up the street to the quik e mart to get money. Somehow halfway back from the store I had to make a daring escape and run around to the back of the venue.
The show went off to a small crowd but it was way better than not playing at all. Once again it was good to see a few familiar faces, including our boy Drew. There were a few hitches in the show, the usual string breakings, plugs coming unplugged, band members throwing up (ok maybe that isn't the usualy, damn that jager again) but all and all it was a pretty good set. Eight Foot Stride played right after us once again and Erik got to get on stage with them during their cover of Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell". Those guys put on one helluva show both nights and we can't wait to get them up here for the 2 shows at Zakk's and Rocks next weekend.
Once again after the shows we went back to Jason from EFS's house. This time his entire band was there and we drank and ate an assload of pasta that Gary from EFS's mom had cooked for everyone. We can't thank those guys enough for all the hospitality. Please check them out. You won't be disappointed.
Round 2 starts next Friday in Murfreesboro at Zakks and Saturday in Richmond at Rocks. If you are in either area check out the shows. You won't be disappoitned at all. This got really long really quickly so I think that is enough for now.
Peyton

I also just wanted to give everyone a quick update. We are finishing out the year by writing new material for our upcoming cd (still untitled) which should be released in late March/early April. As we stand now it will be self-released but we will be shopping it around and hopefully will land an offer or two and get to put it out with real distribution. 2007 is shaping up to be a good year. We have a lot in the works right now and can't wait to get back to some areas we haven't been for awhile. We plan on doing a lot of shows with our friends here in Richmond and down in Va Beach and NC and have a few things up our sleeves! Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. If you are in NC you can catch us at Zakk's Coffeehouse in Murfreesboro w/ Rikets and Mower on Saturday the 9th of December and people in VA can catch us on Saturday December 23rd at Alley Katz w/ Bullistic and Trust in the Fall.

Q. Who are you and what do you do in the band?
A. Peyton Dowdy, and I play guitar.
Q. How did you come up with and decide on the name Fallen Under?
A. Eh, there is no real exciting answer to this question. We had a show coming up and didn't really have a name for the band. Our other guitar player(not with the band anymore) came up with it randomly and we used it for the show and that was about 3 years ago so it kinda stuck. We really need to come up with a better story than that.
Q. What would you like to share with us about your upcoming CD "Tales from the Creepy House"?
A. "Tales From the Creepy House" is a 6-song EP which we feel captures all aspects of our music. We take a lot of pride in having a diverse sound and trying to do something a little different with each song.
The EP itself are all songs that we have written in the last 6 months after going through a number of line-up changes and some tough personal experiences as a band. It is something reflected in some of the harder edged tracks such as "Bend the Needle" and "Nothing".
Q. What are some of your goals for the band?
A. Our main goal is the same as every other band's main goal. We want to be able to sustain ourselves off of playing music. We want this band to be able to be our full time job. We want to be able to tour and make records that we like and hopefully other people like too. Being in a band is a lot of fun and we all love the music but every musician wants to "make it". Even if making it is sustaining a touring career for the next 10 years and never being a mainstream band.
Q. If you could be anyone in world history who would you be and why?
A. Man, this is a random question. Whatever I answer here now is going to seem stupid when I think about it again. There are a few people I could go with here. I have an admiration for Johnny Cash and everything he did musically and how long of a career he had. Plus the man could wear all black all the time. I've also been watching the HBO series Rome lately and even though Julius Caesar gets killed by his "friends", he still had an amazing life. To be idolized and hated by so many people at the same time would be an interesting thing to experience.
Q. What are you listening to these days?
A. This question is something that might take awhile to answer! I absolutely love music and my life revolves around it. The stuff I have been listening to the most lately would have to be an unsigned band from Pennsylvania called Malvado http://www.malvadoband.com and Five.Bolt.Main, which is Chris Volz's, the former singer of Flaw, new band. I'm also a huge Nonpoint fan and their new album, "To the Pain" is awesome. A couple other things a little more on the eclectic side are Murder By Death and Shooter Jennings.
Q. Is there anything else you'd like to share with us about Fallen Under?
A. "Tales From the Creepy House" comes out January 3rd, 2006 and you can check out a preview of it on our myspace page which is http://www.myspace.com/fallenunder. We will be touring as much as possible in 2006 to support the EP.

This was posted on Ferret records website recently and we figured we might as well give it a shot. We aren't metal or hardcore but if you guys vote enough we can make some noise and someone will have to take notice of what we are doing, right? Who knows, maybe this is our way to make it around the country and play for all you crazy people!

LOOKING FOR YOUR INPUT We're already looking forward to the 2006 Sounds Of The Underground. We'll be back raging through your city in no time and we want your input! Email us back at sotu@ferretstyle.com and let us know what bands you'd like to see on the tour next year.
Not a huge request right? A few quick things:
1. We're just going to read through these so emailing about the same band over and over again from the same email address won't help the band out anymore, it'll most likely just bum us out on the band. 2. Multiple emails (more than 2) from the same email address will be automatically deleted. Just email us once with your ideas. We've got one poor dude who's going to read all these emails, go easy on him. 3. We'd like your email to list 5 bands you'd like to see. Less if fine, but not more please.
Keep in mind this is Sounds Of The Underground, we're looking for the best from the worlds of Hardcore, Metal and everything in between. The Top 20 bands we get responses about will go on a poll on www.soundsoftheundergroundtour.com later this year

So once again we are going through lineup changes. Shawn Castillo and Rickie Johnson have parted ways with the band to pursue a new path. Everyone is still on good terms, just wanted to play different styles of music. Erik, Jason and I have already started writing the new material and will resume playing shows very soon. We will have friends fill in on bass until we find the perfect fit. Look for some new demo recordings pretty soon as we are getting ready to record 2 or 3 of the new songs. That's all for now...
