Hi gang
I recieved From Cd Japan Free Time on Monday But a gave it a few days before I
Posted a blog on what I thought.
Whats great first of all is the packaging...
The Cd comes in a very heavy cardboard Case with a heavy Plastic sleave.
The cd also is in a cloth holder.
A mini poster has the Notes and Words to the songs.

What was I thinking before Free time Arrived???...Was Naoko going Metal or re-hashing
the old scholl theme???
I was surprised with the 1960s Girl Group Sound with a Japanese/Engrish Twist with the Words.
Oh theres a metal song or so in there but were in a Seafoam Green Time travel this time.
I was quit happy with the mix...Oh the old School Bear up Bison Fans are going to
Growl that were not in a 1995 mode but It is a fun album.

My favorite songs are Perfect Freedom , Rock N Roll Cake , Jelly Fish and Love Song.

This album is feline approved !

On Nov 15 th my group of friends who many of them have never heard of SK until I sold them on the concept had arrived..
Note that the Patriots and Colts were playing some damb fool game so a few Ladies were hooked to the Tv in the bar..

At 9PM The Needy visions and at 10 pm Jeff and the Neigborhood ran through thier sets and I honestly did not pay attention
they had their people and I gave them the space...I focused on the sales table...I noticed the Japanese lady selling the
CDs and shirts was the ELF dressed person from the 2007 tour ..We sparked a small conversation and I proceeded to spend $$$

on Shirts,Towels, Wrist guards and A Juiet Dagger CD and another Copy of Super Group..As I went to the truck to load it with
my purchase I could not help top notice My band in the Dodge van out front comming and going like quiet Cats...I didnt interupt

Sk seemed to be in their world of cell phone docked PCs and Proceeded to go back in...
Around 11pm the neigborhood cleared the stage and Some guy began to set up for SK...I informed my group of friends that  stage right will be
the position and we moved forward and dropped anchor...I said this is the place..I got some looks but I enforced the thought that Naoko will be feet from us.

I found it so amusing that Etsuko came and went adjusting the drums and Streaching on the stage and nobody said a thing..Like watching your neighboors
cat walk though the yard...You see and look but what can you say...Its a cat..What is she up to but you say nothing...
At some point after 11:15 pm the song Mango Juice was played over the house PA and Naoko,Ritsuko and Etsuko came on the little stage..Naoko & Ritsuko both picked up
their guitars and tuned up looking at their Boss Tuning boxes for a minute or so then the Majic began...

Naoko,Ritsuko and Etsuko plowed through the songs and the crowd seemed to just suck it up...What I found was they were so clean sounding and so
in control..Yes this was 20X nights into their tour but they didnt have the did that done that sound nor the looking at the Watch attitude...
Naoko did some converation with the crowd along with Ritsuko...Near the end Atsuko came out and did a round of Fruits and Vegetables...
It all seemed to come to an end so fast..
Whats funny is as soon as Naoko finished the Set I had my lady friend reach over and grab the Set list..It all came to an end so fast...

By the way the same friend poped the poster from the Ladies room too...She was not an SK fan at all but was totally impessed
that i think I won her over to the Fun side...
Naoko Ritsuko and Etsuko went to the table in front to sign stuff and I positioned myself..At some point I pulled out the war Chest
and asked them to sign some stuff...I found them to be polite and very Quiet and they signed my stuff...Naoko seemed amused at my things to sign
and my friend Tom noticed Etstuko and Ritsuko seemed have the ( hmmmm this guy is nuts look ) but I could not help myself...

I understand that there Japanese females and very Inclusive plus they have done this way to much to be Phased by some nut like me.
Whats funny is Atsuko was in the back loading Mic cables with some young kid..I went back and asked her to sign some pictures and she said Shure...
Lets go back to 1997 or so on the DVD "Blast off when she said (I LIKE RINGO )! Thats it...Well Her English is great and she seemed to be very animated..
The conversation seemed to go into the world of Tamiya RC cars with the young kid and I forgot to get her to sign my Yamaha Guitar pick guard...
At that point she was boxing up things and was pushing an amp out the door...The young floor guy then gave me the Audio board run sheet..I was Impressed
At that point I hit Naoko up for another round of sighning things...She had the Look of "OK" and didnt seemed to be phased at all...
It was around 1am and our band was out the door and packing the Dodge van out front...I would say It was a total success and A total positive
Impact on a Shonen Knife Fan.,
In reality I understand its a buisness and alot of work for the Band to crush 30 cities in 35 days but they never came across like it was
a pain nor the attitude other bands ive encountered in the past...
I look at my autographed guitar and pictures and think Postive thoughts and A great adventure to see and meet Shonen Knife...

To put it in the Words of Astronaut Alan Bean on the Apollo 12 moon mission when it finished "Is that all there is???"
Im Affraid so...I saw my Band and came home with some Artifacts...Like going to the moon and collecting rocks
I can only ask...When are we going back !
I can only hope in A few years...
Naoko Ritsuko Estuko Atsuko and the Nice Lady selling the T shirts...We wait for your return...

Martins Review !!!

Shonen knife - absolutely a Super Group!

by Martin Goodman

S

Just after 10PM the house lights dimmed, the stage was bathed in red spotlights as the band came onstage to the sounds of ‘Mango Juice’ the tribute song to (George Harrison) waving colorful banners. The crowd went wild!
The band had on matching tunic & pants. Etsuko in yellow, Ritsuko in mint green & Naoko in orangy red!

The audience crowed the front of the stage.
I have seen them a few times before, but never have they performed with such energy & commitment to the music & the audience who came to see them. Naoko never sounded so good, using her custom Pink Fujigen guitar blasting out her sweet trademark power chords!
Ritsuko & Etsuko were tight as the rhythm section

They started with the great show opener "Konnichiwa" then into "Supergroup"
"BBQ Party, Map Master, Giant kitty, Banana Chips, Riding the Rocket, Twist Barbie & a kicking version of Sushi Bar" to name few!

Noako played in such high spirits the whole club was awash with grinning happy faces dancing & rocking, to the sounds of the Knife. It doesn’t get better than that!
Ritsuko was terrific playing bass, boy she was loud. I could feel the whole club vibrating. Led Zeppelin will no longer have the title, loudest band in the world thanks to Ritsuko!

Esuko was wonderful too, tight & punchy on drums singing along with the crowd!
Noako sang bright & strong. Ritsuko did two of former bass player Michie Naktani’s songs "J ohnny Johnny, Johnny" & "The Devils House." She sang them very well.

Naoko talked to the audience & said how much they like Toronto & that they have been a few times, that was so cool.
It was so much fun, the band were happy & were having a ball onstage…

The audience clapped & stomped for an Encore .The girls came back out & did encores. For the second encore Noako asked the audience to applaud the most to the song they most wanted to hear from a pick of three songs witch were…

1 E.S.P. 2 Cobra vs. Mongoose & 3 Top of the World.

Shonen Knife from Osaka Japan played at the Horseshoe Tavern last night in Toronto Ont. Canada my hometown. They’re on their North American tour In support of their new CD "SuperGroup."

The crowd picked Cobra vs. Mongoose, we wanted to rock, & boy did Shonen Knife ever do just that! Ritsuko Naoko & Etsuko hair flying blew the house away!
If this is paradise I’m staying!
The band & audience were one thanks to Shonen Knife’s unique rock & roll.

An outstanding show from an outstanding band.
They were gracious enough to stay awhile & sign autographs & let us fans take a few pictures with them. Its there sincerity that makes us fans a loyal lot.

It was a perfect evening thanks to Naoko Etsuko & Ritsuko,
This amazing, hard working band has many miles to go as they travel into the U.S. for the next leg of their tour.

Gods speed to Shonen Knife, the little band that makes a big sound!

Things to buy...English Fun Fun Fun

A blog of a different Place and time

I saw this movie as a kid and always thought it was real science fiction and fantasy.
I watched all 13 videos on Youtube and found it as majical as i first saw it...

I guess im blogging this because it amases me how many young mindless skulls
of mush are out there who make the most dumbest comments on youtube.

This is a 1960s Paramount movie and it uses tons of pieces and parts from other
movies..The Aliens mining vehicle are definetly the 1954 war of the worlds machines
repainted and other items are from Destination moon.

I think this stuff is great...Movies of today that embellish on bad CGI animations
and Product placement along with the same recycled plot over and over have killed
the industry...

If you watch the next video besides the war of the world machines recycled the sound
effects were later used on Paramount and Desie Lu Studios 1960s Star Trek...

Our Alien Space Ships from Mars years before in Paramounts War of the worlds... I love the RCOM used the same models just for the fun of it.....
