Tumblr....

It's a new blogging thing. Or maybe it's not new, but we've only just found it.

Anyway, it's a nice little way to blog, post pictures/quotes/music etc.

And we have one- it's at http://ffaf.tumblr.com/

Give it a spin. You'll find a bunch of stuff on there that you wont find anywhere else.

Also don't forget to follow us on Twitter at www.twitter.com/ffaf

Nice one

'It'll be quite a nice change to go out on tour and not have to concentrate on representing our latest album, instead putting together a set that represents all our best material from day one until now’, says drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. 'The most exciting thing for us though, is getting out and playing brand new stuff for the first time. Especially since it's the first material we've written with Gav in the band. It'll be a nice trip down memory lane, as well as a peek into the future of the FFAF.’

Tickets are on limited pre-sale with a low booking fee right now at www.funeralforafriend.com. General on-sale is Friday this week at 9am.

See you on the road!

On September 28 2009 Funeral For A Friend open another chapter in their career with the release of 'Your History Is Mine: 2002-2009' - a retrospective look at some of the band's finest moments on record from their early days in South Wales right bang up to date with the inclusion of 4 brand new tracks.

The album is notable for being the first involving Gavin Burrough fully in the writing and recording process. ‘It's made a huge difference having [Gav] come into the band as a fan, and almost like a spokesman for all the fans out there who've been wanting to hear elements of the band they fell in love with that maybe have been missing for a while,’ says drummer/vocalist Ryan Richards. ‘We've always said we never wanted to go backwards, but now we've been able to re-explore a lot of the old elements of what we did and make it sound brand new by having Gav's musical and vocal input in there. It's very exciting – for us and for the fans, especially the ones that have been there from the start.’

‘It's been hard,’ adds vocalist Matthew Davies, ‘whittling down the best of four albums and a bunch of EP's to come up with what we consider to be the best of our 'formative years'. We're still trying to rewrite the rock and roll music text book with everything we've done since then. It's been interesting to see just how many songs we've written that have affected both us and our audience over the last 7 and a half years and having them all in one place will be a good reflection of our music up to this point for both newcomers and for old friends.’

'I like to think of the record as the end of one road and the start of another,’ continues Richards. ‘We wanted to document the history of the band up until now but at the same time usher in a New Age of Aural Awesomeness – or NAAA to the abbreviators out there who've come to know and love us as the FFAF.’

Good morning

We've not really checked in for a while. Well, we have- by way of the Twitter (ffaf), but not on here. Poor myspace. It feels like we've been neglecting you for the newer, cooler social networking gadget on the block. Anyway...

We've been busy. We've been productive.

Yes, we've been enjoying the rare treat of British sunshine like the rest of you. Between the sunbathing and BBQ's though- we've been busy in the blue room writing a bunch of new material. Actually, we're off to the studio this week to record it! How about that?

As a lot of you realize, this has been our first writing session period with Gav. Any of you who were fans of Gav's old bands 'The Future' and 'Hondo Maclean' will be excited to hear what he's brought to party.

It'd be silly to leave you with any soundbites regarding the direction of the material, but rest assured- if you care enough about this band to be reading this blog then I know you're going to be stoked with the new shizz.

It's coming soon. Very soon.

Be excited.

Hey everyone,

Due to Kris coming down with food poisoning we will be unable to perform as part of the Record Store Day celebrations tomorrow at Spillers Records in Cardiff.

Fear not, myself, Darran and Gav will be in attendance from around 4pm helping out, chatting to people and signing stuff so come on down and hang out and have a laugh with everyone and join in with the spirit of independence at the oldest record store in the world, Spillers!

See you there and bring your wallets because i'll be recommending top records that you won't want to risk leaving the store without!!!

Matt. FFAF.
