The musical equivalent to a graveyard, that could well be Christian Death whose funereal garlands added a splash of colour to the Underworld recently. Support band Eths had plenty of life in them too and certainly put on a deranged performance.

Here are some photos from the show, all are strictly copyright to Pete Woods any abusers shall suffer atrocities!

Thought it was about time to put up some shots in line with the funeral portraits name of this page. Been taking some shots in Wiltshire recently and experimenting with all the settings on a new camera, these are the results.

Fields Of The Nephilim recently reuinited after a massive 17 year gap and although Carl McCoy is the only former band member, 2 ceremonies at Shepherds Bush Empire saw the band gelling and getting to grips with different sets spanning their history. As far as I am concerned highlights were the Elyzium material on the first and Dawnrazor songs on the second night, but it was all fantastic and I wish the sound was this crystalline at every concert I went to.

Here is a gallery, the best I could shoot round the plumes of dry ice, a review will follow on www.metalteamuk.net in a couple of weeks.

Photos are all copyright Pete Woods, anyone found using without permission will be rolled in flour, flattened and cooked into a pancake.

London Deathfest Photos 2008

Some things are inevitable in life and one such thing is the annual Deathfest, London's extreme festival at The Underworld put on almost religiously by Arcane Promotions.

This year some favourite UK faces popped out the woodwork to open things up in style and we were visited later in the day by some heavy hitters from further flung shores.

No matter what anyone thinks about the new Cryptopsy album 'The Unspoken King' with it's clean vocals, there were none being crooned on their set and if you want to read a proper review of the whole show check out www.metalteamuk.net over the next couple of weeks.

The Paganfest - London Koko 6/4/8

Snow in April, no doubt it was brought by the Finns who were invading along with friends from Switzerland and The Faroe Islands. The Vikings were bringing their brand of paganism to Albion and they all proved themselves as warriors on the night. Although it must be said there was a bit too much naked man flesh on show.
Here are a selection of photos, all are copyright Pete Woods, please do not use without permission. A full review is forthcoming at www.metalteamuk.net

'National No Music Day'
The second worst idea ever from Bill Drummond, a man who once burnt a million quid. "Even one day without music is one day too many" said a wise man (well me, just now). What are we meant to do? Stay in and watch our sporting heroes crash out of The European  cup? I can assure you the herds on the way through Wembley were baaing and crying like the pathetic sheep they are as I travelled home from a night of vitriolic black metal!
The pictures speak for themselves, here victory was in the air.
National no music day, no thanks!

I wish I could present these photos in some kind of scratch and sniff version so you could get the full effect of Watain's foul stench. They brewed up a potent cauldron of rancid pigs blood last night at The Fridge in Brixton and literally stormed through a set that puts them at the very top of the elite as far as black metal performances are concerned. It was also a displeasure to catch Singapore godz Impiety over here for the first time as well as Pentacle from Holland.
A full review will be up on www.metalteamuk.net soon

The Pest Pandemic tour kicked off in London at The Fridge in Brixton last night. Contagion was spread with rituals by local support Spearhead, Vorkreist (Fr), Blacklodge (Fr), Horna (Fin) and for the English date only Dodheimsgard (Nor). Visually it was rather interesting and debate is out on just which zombie film DHG Kvohst is modelling himself on, I'm going with Dawn Of The Mummy. Here are photos from the show.
All are copyright by Pete Woods, abusers will be fed to Blacklodge for scientific drug eperimentation.
Thank's to StataNael for another great show.

Sorry about the lack of updates here recently. If you want to check out some more band shots head over to www.metalteamuk.net where you will find recent ones of Type O Negative, Paradise Lost and a host of others.

Been a while since I did a cemetary shoot and I was amazed at discovering the monuments, mausoleums and the catacombs (where unfortunately photos were not allowed but £1500 will book you a place for internment) in this sprawling tranquil place. Popping along on an open day there was plenty to do and see with groups of people dressed in Victorian costumes having picnics, stalls selling everything from gingerbread skeletons to books and hats and even decorated coffins and guided tours which were highly enlightning and informative.

Starting at 5PM on a tuesday afternoon, this tour hit London in style and provided a real diverse and entertaining mixture of bands. There were groups like Root from the Czech Republic, who I had never heard before and who were the surprise of the day. On the other hand there was Napalm Death who I have probably seen twice a year for the last 20. The pit beckoned and yet again they put on a show and a half.
