After three years, Georgie James is calling it a day. We're proud of the album we made and everything else that we were able to do during our time together. We are both working on our respective solo projects and hope to have albums out early next year. Thanks to everyone that helped our band over these past few years. And thanks to those who've listened to the music and come out to the shows. It is greatly appreciated. See you around soon. - John and Laura/Georgie James

Georgie James may not have been nominated for an Emmy exactly, but the NPR documentary "Project Song" featuring Georgie James was. So glad to see Bob Boilen (and his genius work on All Songs Considered) getting the recognition he so deserves. Congratulations to everyone involved in the making of the documentary -- from inception to the editing room. It was an incredible experience and an honor to be a part of this ground-breaking documentary series. Fingers crossed for a win!
xo, Laura/Georgie James
Last December, as part of NPR's Project Song challenge, Georgie James entered NPR Studio 4A to write and record a song in two days based on an image and a phrase. The entire process was documented by All Songs Considered. Now NPR's Project Song documentary has been nominated for an Emmy in the Best Approach to News Documentary category. To listen to the song and watch the whole process, go to: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=17260110.

Hey all. I've got my own specialty show on XM Radio and it's airing every Saturday at 4pm eastern time on the XMU Channel (43). The show's called 1, 2, 3, 4 More More More and I'll be playing lots of classic power pop, new wave, punk, post-punk, indie rock and more. You'll also hear a good helping of the bands of today that are keeping the tradition going. I've got a myspace page for the show at www.myspace.com/1234moremoremore. You'll find playlists, show info, links to the bands you hear on the show, upcoming special guests, etc. Have a look. - JD

Hey all. I'll be the guest host for the month of February on the AIRTime radio show on XMU (Channel 43). Every month, they have a different musician host the show and play some of their favorite tracks. I am fortunate to be doing it this month and my first show airs on Tuesday the 5th. I'll be on every Tuesday night in February at 10pm Eastern/7pm Pacific. There are encore airings on Wednesday at 2pm Eastern/11am Pacific and again on Thursday at 6am Eastern/3am Pacific. Check it out if you can. The XM folks tell that listeners who don't have XM, but want to sign up for a free 14-day trial can do so at http://www.xmradio.com/xmuoffer. - JD

We'll be issuing "Cake Parade" as the second single from our album, "Places," this February. There will be a digital version, which will include three extra tracks, and a vinyl 7" which will have feature one extra track on the b-side (though it'll include a voucher to download the whole 4-song package for free). "You You You You You" is the b-side for the vinyl single (and is a cover of a song by The 6ths) and the other bonus tracks on the digital single are a demo version of "Cheap Champagne" and our cover of "El Condor Pasa (If I Could)" by Simon & Garfunkel, which was available on an early single we did, but has been unavailable for quite some time. The digital single will be out February 19th through all of the usual forums and the 7" should be available a few weeks later. Go to www.saddle-creek.com for updates on that. Thanks. - JD

We're going to be one of the "Freshmen Five" bands on mtvU this spring and they're having us come by for one of their Backstage Pass features, too. There is a segment where they have the fans ask us questions. Now, I have to admit I'm not really expecting any questions when the time comes, but maybe you could ease our humilation by submitting some? Go to http://www.mtvu.com/music/backstage_pass/questions.jhtml. I think it should air sometime in March or April. We'll post more info here as we get it. Thanks. JD

Hey all. I'm doing a radio show (1,2,3,4, More More More) on WMUC FM (the University of Maryland's radio station). It airs Monday afternoon from noon-2 pm this month before we head over to Europe for some more GJ shows. But this week (actually at this very moment) and the next three weeks you can tune in at www.wmucradio.com. Even if you can't hear it live, there are archives up online for a bit that you can check out. Send any requests you have via email to 1234moremoremore(at)gmail(dot)com and I'll do my best to play them. I'll be playing all kinds of music. Basically, all of the stuff I listen to, so if you like Georgie James, it might be interesting for you to check out. Ok, Happy New Year and good luck in 2008.

bob boilen (all songs considered) invited us to the npr studios and dared us to write and record a new song in only two days -- and to let them tape the whole process. thankfully the 20+ hour sessions had to be boiled down to only about 16 minutes, so the most embarrassing moments can remain unseen outtakes until the big georgie james retrospective comes out (in about 20 years)... you can watch the video, hear the original piece that ran on "all things considered," and listen to the finished song ("monument") in its entirety here:
