Current mood:  breezy
Last year when I bought my soup warmer, I knew that some day all of those three bays would be used. Although we began offering just one soup per day, we've ramped it up so that now there are three soups simmering and for sale for you at the cafe.

Soup is easy to make and can use up ingredients we have left over, it's an economical and healthy way to expand our menu. Today, for example we served curry coconut chicken soup, veggie lentil soup and cream of brocolli. There are so many soups we can serve, it's fun to be creative.

That's one of the best things about the cafe...the staff gets a chance to research cool new menu items and try them out. We go to the web and find recipes of all stripes...one new one we're contemplating is a wonderful cajun chicken stew.

Stay tuned, you'll be surprised the next time you stop by. Our menus grow and grow and you'll notice how much busier we are...it's that time of the year, the time that travelers, locals and tourists are discovering South Deerfield's culinary secret...the GoNOMAD Cafe.

It's April 27 and it's feeling very much like summer in the cafe. So hot, turning on AC and putting up a new screen door this week so that we can ventillate naturally during the hot times of the day.  We have a new team working now, Angela and Maria and Jenn and Ashley, with a new hire coming soon.

We have made some very popular specials this week....a crispy tuna with sliced almonds and dried cranberries and this week we will have a brat special. Grilled bratwurst split open to show off the juicy sausagey insides. It will be great.
Our cafe is also enhanced by our flowers...brought by Hope from Artemis Garden Design.  Flower boxes show off and make it look a little festive and that's always good for business.

We will be making some new drinks soon. Watch the blog and the menu display for many more new hot and cold drinks.

We have been battling snow storms and thriving with lots of great new menu items under Donna's  watchful eye. We celebrate this Friday March 6 our THIRD anniversary..wow, the cafe has been around just about three years. That milestone calls for wine...and soda...and tasty hors dóeuvres....we shall have all of this on Friday night between 5-730. If you're a cafe loyalist, if you love coming here during the day, come drink some of our wine and toast to our success on that night!
We've added many new photos of the new items like oatmeal and hot cereal and we will be increasing our drink selections using groovy tasty new syrups from Toriani. Soon we'll have Lime Rickey, soda floats and all sorts of exotic drink fare.
Hope to see you Friday!

The GoNOMAD Cafe in Deerfield
Thursday, January 15, 2009
Our new conveyor belt toaster means faster bagels and more even toasting for our sandwiches.  We had enough of breaking toaster after toaster, even the expensive ones at the store they call them 'temporary toasters.' It seems that all of the up and down with the arm and the heat just wears out.
So now we've got one with a moving belt that keeps the toast going and is the preferred toaster for most restaurants. It feels like with this, our pannini maker and our soup warmers that we have grown up a bit.
Our lunchtime business has never been better. We now are closing at 4 pm on the weekdays, but that hasn't slowed down the people from coming in and ordering their favorite grilled cheese sandies. Who can resist a grill cheese and soup??

It's a January ice storm here at the cozy cafe, so my workers had a hard time getting in. So I got a call at 6:30 in Holyoke, to come up and open. Oh the life of the owner!
I am heading to Mexico at the end of this month for more coffee bean research, and if anyone calls me then I'll of course be of no help.

The cafe enters January with some fantastic new offerings....our soup has become a great success and the panninis are finding many new takers. Every day we have at least three specials and the soups change daily. We might be bringing in another daily soup so that there will be two to choose from.

Lentil soup is one of our favorites...made from scratch right in the back. We hope that many new people discover the cafe and that our food offerings continue to delight and impress the local crowd.

Happy New Year to any new readers of this blog and we hope to see you soon...at the cafe of course!
