Recap of the week so far:
1) Weekend was awesome! Woo!
2) Monday: H gets bad case of croup, runs really high fevers, E has a bad day, W of insatiable appetite
3) Tuesday: H throws up blood, yet another trip to dr, H gets a shot, car radio gets stolen, W eats all day again
4) Wednesday: H still sick, falls over crayons and faceplants on floor which results in bloody nose & cut lip, which means no breathing treatments until her nose heals up, H also has diarrhea from all the food she ate last night. W’s appetite continues to amaze me.
Any guesses as to what the rest of the week will bring?

We've been using the naughty spot technique with Hazel lately to help correct some of her behavior, like hitting/biting/pulling hair or retaliatory throwing, to name a few. We give her one warning, then it's off to the naughty spot with an explanation of why she is going there. She has to sit in the spot for one minute, which restarts every time she gets up from the spot. It can be a long process but I can tell when she's figured it out because she gets upset and will stay in the naughty spot. Then when the minute is up, we talk about why she went there, ask for an apology (which she hasn't learned yet) and give hugs. It's been working fairly well, because if she's misbehaving and we let her know that she's heading for the naughty spot if she keeps on, she will stop the behavior - Mostly. :) We've still got some work to do. lol... Anyway, I googled naughty spot and was dumbstruck by the following: Naughty Spot 1Naughty Spot 2A plush rug? A rug with a smiley face? WTF? Are our children so lacking in self-esteem and self-reliance that they need a plush rug to sit on when they've been naughty? Or a smiley face rug to make them feel better because certainly a hug and kiss from Mom or Dad isn't enough? I don't even know what else to write. I'm still rather in shock.

So you all read the story of Walter's birth in a previous blog and you probably read that we posted it on our local community blog that we blog on. One of the comments was this: Tamara, I'm not quite sure what to make of this. Ezra emailed the commenter but I haven't said anything to her yet. It was quite a random post - she has never posted on the blog before. What do all of you think? Should I respond? For the record, when Hazel was born, I didn't have an epidural until 4 hours into labor and then the reason I had one was because it was suggested to help me save my strength because I was having major contractions with very little cervix progression. As it was, I was still so tired 6 hours later giving birth to Hazel that they were getting out instruments to help Hazel into the world. For the record again, I was begging for the c-section at the height of labor, when you think you are just going to die and you can't do it anymore and you don't want to push because you know that's going to hurt even more. What woman is in their right mind at that point? I think what bothers me is the unsolicited sermon on childbirth. In going to this chick's blog, I find out she's a doula and and other assorted things and had a natural labor and water birth (of which you can watch a video!) Good for her - I chose the medical route and would do it again. It's what's right for me. Besides, I don't have free cable at home.
