We've had the Gravity Tree album, "Life or Dessert?" on sale all summer and part of the fall, for just 5 dollars (CD or download MP3s). But we're actually running out of copies of the CD (!), so we're going to have to call it quits on the sale.

What all that means: through November 1, you will still be able to go to our pages at CDBaby.com and pick up "Life or Dessert?" for five dollars US. (Fans can contact us directly through their newsletter email address and just order through PayPal if they'd like.)

So if you haven't picked it up yet, make sure you go to CDBaby right away and get "Life or Dessert?". Because when Monday roles around, the party's over. Well, as far as our sale goes, anyway...

Thanks for listening.

Don't forget about the new song, BUILDING, now on sale at our webstore...(or grab it from our SNOCAP player on our MySpace profile).

Cheers.

We're a bit slow on the post, but we've released a new song.
The song is "BUILDING," and is available as a special web-only mix.

You can hear it in our MySpace player, and grab the MP3 from our SNOCAP widget below; or at our Audiolife webstore, our page at Boost independent music, or the ZeBOX music store.

More new music coming soon. Thanks for listening.

If you head over to our page at Jamendo, you'll find a free Gravity Tree EP/Sampler you can listen to or download. It's a 3-song collection just to give those that haven't heard our brand of progressive rock a better taste of what the heck we're up to.

The EP includes "Harmonic Indulgence" from the album "Life or Dessert?", and the songs "Wait" and "Aim to Please" from our newest CD, "Ultimate Backward". These are full-length songs, ready to download.

You can preview the songs right here on the player posted below. Again, the link is:

If you like what you hear, our 5 dollar CD sale is still going on at CDBaby, so don't miss out.

Thanks for listening.

For a limited time, we're having a five dollar sale on our CD, "Life or Dessert?". The sale is going on right now at CDBaby. "Life or Dessert?" is selling for several dollars more at almost every other store (Amazon, CDUniverse, Target, etc.). Even the download sites charge more (Napster, iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.) - and you don't get a physical CD or all of the artwork that way. So at 5 bucks apiece, you could buy a few copies, keep one, and sell the rest to your friends at a profit ;-)

They are getting low on stock on this CD, and we don't have many copies left ourselves.  So if you like your rock progressive and a bit crazy, you might want to hurry over and get your copie(s) soon. (Click here to go to our page on CDBaby.) Thanks for listening!

Gravity Tree has been expanding. No, we're still a duo. But we've been spreading out over some of the more popular places on the web.
First, for all of you who find one social network isn't enough, we're also on Twitter. We have a new (and fairly undeveloped) page on Facebook. But perhaps more importantly, you can find pretty much everything we've released so far over on Napster. It's free to listen and they let you play whole songs instead of the usual 30 second samples. If you're so motivated, you can buy the music over there as well.
Now that MySpace has allowed us to add more tracks to their player, you should see some additions in the coming weeks. Until then, thanks for listening.

Gravity Tree received a nice review from progressive music magazine Exposé last year. It's finally posted on our Reviews page at our official site, but you can read it here (see below).
We've obviously been absent from blogging much this year, but there will be some new announcements, probably next month, about new downloads and the next Gravity Tree CD. Until then, here's the review:
Gravity Tree is one of the more interesting progressive bands around, a duo who covers all the instruments of a four piece band, plus vocals; and they do this live too. Guitarist Linc plays a combo-guitar that has both bass and guitar strings, and separate pickups for each, allowing him to play both parts simultaneously. Drummer Alan Nu handles a keyboard with his right hand and drums with the others, as well as using various drum controlled triggers. The result is an amazing full band sound from just two players. Both provide the vocals. Some readers may remember "Aim to Please," their contribution to the Bay Prog Sampler disc that was included with issue #24; in fact that song has gone through further refinement in the years since and appears here on this, their second album, along with nine other original compositions. Their material bears a stamp of currency, yet also features the conceptual ideals of classic progressive rock. Their influences likely include Zappa, Happy The Man, Van der Graaf, and Gentle Giant, which they assimilate well as they explore new musical territory; most of the songs are long and labyrinthine, and rarely settle down into a pattern for very long. In that respect, I am reminded of another current band, The Underground Railroad. Familiarity with Ultimate Backward will require a few repeated plays, but over the haul the listener will be rewarded. This is a solid second effort.

We hope everyone's having a safe and happy holiday season.

After a short break, Gravity Tree is beginning work on new songs, most of which will be included in our 3rd CD release, about nine months from now. But you won't have to wait that long for new prog rock tunage. We're going to try and release a new web-version of each song as it's finished. Hopefully that means you'll see a new mp3 download available on the usual sites about every couple of months.

We probably won't release all of the material this way, mostly because some of them are shaping up to be quite long. But we might release a "part 1" of a piece as a download. It's an experiment, and you'll have to give us feedback on it. But as folks are beginning to move away from the album concept (or is that concept album?), semi-monthly download releases seem to be in order with trends. Not to say that we're trendy! Expect the first new release January-ish.

One more thing: If you're on our official mailing list or Yahoo group and receive the Gravity Tree newsletter, you'll get a message as soon as the first song is available. And if you're a member of the Gravity Tree street team, you'll receive most of these mp3s for free. So if you haven't joined one of our groups, sign up today!

Little did we know as we planned the release of a new Gravity Tree song, that MySpace was also planning a big change. Of course I'm talking about the new music player. As everyone knows by now, the player is still undergoing some tweaks, and there's an issue with uploading that MySpace is aware of. It's going to be great when it's done, and they're working hard on it I'm sure. No complaints here.

But in the meantime, we have a new song we can't properly roll out. So the decision was made to delay it's release until MySpace has their ducks lined up a little better. We thought about putting it up in other places first, but truthfully it's much easier and less confusing for us if it all happens at once. That's our reality of being an indie artist.

So...the current plan is to release it in 2 weeks, the weekend of October 11-12. If at that time you find the player is still not 100%, you can guess we'll be late again as well. We're going to use the time to tweak the mix a little more, well, because now we can and I'm just a big geek, you know.

And we will make a big announcement, in this blog, through the newsletter, on our Yahoo groups page, Twitter, all the usual places.

Thanks for listening, and waiting. We wait with you...

So the subject is the message...Gravity Tree will release a brand new song in a month. You can hear a piece of it right here in a couple of weeks or so. Then the song will be out and about for download in full-length, MP3 style. September 27.

We'll put up a blog when we're about to release the clip. Then you can decide if it's proggy enough for you. I just want to go on record as saying it's got a tricky little drum pattern that gives it it's sig sound IMHO...so you'll want to check it out for that at least. Oh, and Linc let's me do a synth solo. So there you go.

More, well, when there's more.

We had a long technical delay in getting the newsletter out, just in case subscribers were wondering where it went. The service we use had some down time and we just had to wait it out. Once they were up we had to update things before sending since some time had passed.

Well it's all better now but we're rethinking the newsletter delivery system we're using and might update it in the near future. In the meantime, you should see the August newsletter show up in your inbox (if you're a subscriber that is) today (Tuesday). There's a fairly big announcement in there, we'll keep quiet elsewhere until the fan base has a chance to get in-the-know about it.

For the rest of you, sign up for the newsletter or stayed tuned here. Thanks for listening.
