+ Summer has arrived +
++ A slight delay for "24/7" - and the first single of the year++
+++ Remix +++
++++ the concert menu for GusGus and President Bongo ++++
+Summer is here+
Summer is here and our boys in Gus-gus are livelier than ever. This winter the
seeds for the "24/7" album were planted in the studio at Önundarfjordur and
the crop will be harvested and disseminated far afield this summer. The testing
of "24/7" has been gone over tremendously well in the Icelandic market, despite
a national dance of financial crunch in times of crisis. The result of a
remarkable diligence and resilience was obvious at the two first SRO local
Gus-gus performances in Reykjavik and in Akureyri, you could see the
perspiration cover the walls, jaws caressing the floors and all joints squirm
and wriggle in amazement and joy !

++A slight delay for “24/7”’s release date - and the
first single++
Our record company has decided to delay the release of “24/7” for about three
months, so the album will not be in shops until early September. However, the
first single is due at the end of June. The title will be “Add this Song.” with
remixes from: Patrick Chardronnet, Lopazz, Klovn, Kasper Björke and Gluteus Maximus!
+++ Remix +++
As we told you earlier, the Gus-gus group has signed a contract with the
outstanding German record company KOMPAKT in Cologne to a great mutual satisfaction.
The Gus-gus group has recently been busy as bees in remixing; they have always
been sought after in the remix field as you know. One of their recent remixes
has been a new effort for the aberrant and spunky SNAX from Berlin, "Out of Trouble". This remix was
done in collaboration with Gluteus Maximus, which is a twosome made up of
President Bongo and Jack Schidt. On the same record you can also find fantastic
remixes by Peaches and Crazy P.
Then there are
remixes for Remute and Paul Jackson coming up soon!

Nýútkomin er endurhljóðblöndun á nýjustu smáskífu hins afbrigðilega og hressa SNAX frá Berlín, “Out of Trouble”. Endurhljóðblönduna

Gus-gus: Newsletter – March
+++ A New Publishing House+++ +++ The Date for “24/7” Confirmed +++ +++ Festival Bookings this Summer +++ +++ Concert 20 March 2009+++
We are well into the month of March, as you may have noticed, and that in itself is a good thing, considering that this means that we are one month closer to the release date for “24/7”. The energetic and well groomed multi-media collective Gus-gus has now with diligence, solicitude and scrupulousness reached the point of perfection of the project – and now we can announce a release date and new label.
New record label: KOMPAKT
You can say that Gus-gus has been under microscopic observation at several respected record companies for a good while. There have been ongoingdiscussions with interested companies who have all shown great interest in “24/7” the Gus-gus threesome definitely knows what they want, and what the requirements are for their band. So they have agreed upon the selection of the company to act as label for “24/7”
The saying goes that a good house is a good omen for its guests and that the location of the house is of great importance. Therefore one can understand the reason for a true and well bred techno-group such as Gus-gus to select a house such as KOMPAKT, the most respected electronic/dance music label of today. The company has its headquarters in Cologne. It is directed with the experienced hands of Michael Mayer, Wolfgang Voigt and Jurgen Paape.
Many people may recall Mayer from his successful concert at Iceland Airwaves last year.
KOMPAKT is known for having created the minimalist Cologne-sound, and their record labels have international music stars such as DJ Koze, The Field, The Orb, Kaito, and other noteworthy artists under their wings. The British music journalist, Simon Reynolds, has written of KOMPAKT that no record company has contributed more to the superior standing of German dance music than KOMPAKT. Reynolds has written several books about music and contributed articles about music to Melody Maker, The Observer, Rolling Stone, The Wire, and other publications.
KOMPAKT has already announced that the company will publish the remix version of the Sigur Rós composition, “Gobbledigook,” as done by Gluteus Maximus (President Bongo and Jack Schidt.)

The Date is Confirmed
We just got the good news. The release date for “24/7” has been confirmed. The date for “24/7” is the 6th of July 2009.
Festivals and Music Tours this Summer
The coming of the “24/7” will be the cause for international plaudits for sure. The Gus-gus group will first and foremost take part in several music festivals around Europe, to begin with. The group has already been booked for a concert at the Total 10 festival in Cologne and of course the famous Sonar Festival in Barcelona in June, where GusGus will appear alongside stars like Grace Jones, Fever Ray, The Orbital and El Guincho.

GusGus spiluðu einnig á nokkrum tónleikum erlendis seint á síðasta ári, þ.á.m. í Bern, Moskvu, Tokyo og í Berlín þar sem þeir spiluðu á showcase-tónleikum á vegum nýrrar bókunarstofu þeirra, Wilde Bookings. Berlín-tónleikarnir voru lofaðir hástert af þýskum fjölmiðlum og sjónvarpstöðinni MTV sem voru á tónleikunum ásamt útsendurum virtra hljómplötuútgáfa sem hafa verið áhugasamar um hljómsveitina.

GusGus hafa klárað lokahnykkinn á sjöttu hljóðversskífu sinni og hefur hún hlotið heitið "24/7" eins og áður hefur komið fram. Breiðskífan var að mestu leyti unnin af meðlimum sveitarinnar, þeim Birgi Þórarinssyni (e.þ.s. Veiran), Daníel Ágúst Haraldssyni og Stephan Stephenssen (e.þ.s. President Bongo) í Tankinum við Önundarfjörð og í hljóðveri GusGus í Reykjavík. "24/7" kemur út í júní hjá einu raftónlistarfyrirtæki í heiminum í dag.
Jón Jónsson ehf. hefur nánast eingöngu sérhæft sig í skipulagninu fyrsta flokks klúbbakvölda í Reykjavík og á Akureyri og má þar nefna kvöld með plötusnúðum á borð við DJ Mehdi og Busy P frá Ed Banger útgáfunni í Frakklandi, Carl Cox, Dusty Kid, Yuksek. GusGus – the continued saga of working men and animals
GusGus, the cosmetic animal, has kept underground as well as on distant (fishing-)banks for the past few weeks. GusGus, as you know, is ever searching and plotting, but always returning with a good catch in the stomach, following a well planned search on the analogue fields of Germany..s Bayern as well as in stony and snow-covered mountain areas of Iceland. GusGus has kept away from daily toss and toil, consumed good and nourishing food, - making complete use of each and every calorie, because GusGus knows very well that in order to work on difficult and demanding projects you need the best raw materials available. Today..s project is the next studio album, their sixth one. This album has been given the professional name of "24/7", a name very typical for GusGus. GusGus is, of course, the multimedia band, an audio-visual collective that you could often describe as being a triheaded animal. Some times they remind you of an animal from a different planet or from an adventure tale, and sometimes they are like a gigantic whale that scientists follow to previously unknown, munificent fishing grounds.
 It should be obvious that a triheaded animal has three heads – and in this case their names are Daniel Agust, President Bongo and Veiran. This animal is superior to other animals, because this animal utilizes technical aspects produced by men for men, women, and even children. You see, GusGus had a Bayern genius build a specially designed analogue modules in a system called Doepfer A-100. The designer who is responsible for the A-100, Dieter Döpfer, has designed similar instruments for the last three scores of years, meeting the special needs of various famous musicians such as GusGus. The Doepfer-instrument, the A-100, played a major part in GusGus performances last year. The A-100 sound engrossed the membranes of astonished concert and club audiences in the international cities of Reykjavik, Berlin, Moscow and Tokyo – and the reaction from these good people indicated both pleasure and astonishment. With visual memories from these cities, GusGus brought the A-100, a sound system for club performances, their wardrobe, combs and brylcream, to the TANK in Önundarfjordur in Iceland and recorded the spinal support for the "24/7." Most of the spinal work is original materials coming from the "intestines" of GusGus. "On the Job" is a phrenetic song of the working man to the unbroken animal called love. Then on "Thin Ice" the bloated donkey goes out on the ice to dance. And on "Add This Song" the listener is encouraged to add - the song in question - to his collection. The GusGus analogue sound environment has never been better and Daniel Agust..s singing reigns again and thus opens the group..s variability to new heights. As on previous occasions GusGus performs a song written by Jimi Tenor, the fantastic "Take me Baby" where Jimi is a guest singer. "Hateful" is a pretty familytype song that GusGus and Aaron-Carl composed together while being on different sides of the Atlantic. GusGus and Aaron-Carl, on one hand, and Jimi Tenor on the other, enjoy a mutual respect and friendship. You can tell from these songs that a further cooperation between these fine artists would not be a surprise in the future. GusGus is putting a final touch on "24/7" Therefore, only a selected few have had the opportunity to listen. But among the lucky ones are record labels, international companies that have shown their pleasure, enthusiasm and even reverence for the A-100, the animal, and the whale ! President Bongo and the rumpmuscle.
Rump muscles are important for dancing and President Bongo knows that very well. Therefore the Prez at times likes to tear himself away from the GusGus environment and activate people..s rump muscles along with his friend and colleague Jack Schidt. When working together they call themselves Gluteus Maximus, which is of course the latin name for the muscles of the rump. Gluteus Maximus is a DJ-Producion-Duo that entertains club audiences all over the world. The duo has also engaged themselves with remix for celebrated artists such as Sigur Rós and the danish Trentemöller, who is one of the foremost contemporary dancemusician. Gluteus Maximus did a remix of Trentemöller..s tune "Miss You" in the fashion of minimalistic monster for the Danish genius. This particular remix is the sixth most downloaded mix from PokerFlat ever!
