Jackie Kennedy, Annette Funicello, Supremes, Priscilla Presley, Paul McCartney
These are the levels of donation-giving in support of LOVE IS IN THE HAIR's wig fund work.
Tina M. sent us a letter of thanks for her wig, provided by our wig fund. Our liaison wig shops give each wig recipient a small Hair Theater tag explaining the fund and telling the recipient that they are our 'star today'. Tina wrote in part, "When I read the part that said, 'You are our star today,' it made me feel special and gave me hope. I cannot express the way I feel about this wonderful gesture of kindness from people I do not know and will probably never meet."
To date, 462 Central Ohio women and girls have received wigs and hats through our fund housed at the Columbus Foundation. (Wigs are around$350 each). The wonderful stylists at Over My Head, Hope's Boutique, and Jan's Place carefully assist our Star Recipients through this tender process.
You can help too! Donations are always accepted (www.columbusfoundation.org). But right now you have a special opportunity to make a HUGE impact! We are accepting donations at a variety of levels ($500-$10,000) for our upcoming fundraiser, LOVE IS IN THE HAIR, Nov. 7, 8, and 9 in conjunction with Columbus Dance Theatre(www.coldancetheatre.org). Surprise of surprises, this year's show will be a hairy-aoke, love-in, sing-along, happening, BALLET! You read that right. A portion of the ticket proceeds will go to our wig fund. If you would like to be one of our donors, with a totally tax deductible contribution (and adoring mentions in our publicity materials and at the shows) do contact: patwynnbrown@yahoo.com. Our donor squad of LaFawnduh, Trixie, Norma Jean, and La Patrice will be at your service, happy to meet with you, pronto and on point!
Your donation goes directly onto a woman's head!

HAIR IN THE NEWS
- Amy Winehouse has big hair and some big problems. Sadly at a recent concert an audience member threw something at her bouffant hairdo. Being Amy, she went into the audience to bop the perpetrator. Also being Amy, her aim was not true and she hit the wrong person. La Patrice continues to hold out hope for this, our highest of high hair stars.
_ The height of polygamist wives' hair denotes their status in the cult.
- Cameron Diaz and Jeff Bridges have both shaved their heads for their respective movies
- In Jackson, Mich, (acc to Sports Illustrated) Emmarie Truman (sophomore at Jackson High) pitched a one hitter with 5 strikeouts and a win—She did this 3 months after brain tumor surgery and chemo. She also did it bald.

ANGELS AMONG US
Thank you ever so much to….
Pam Glasgow and Terry Oliver at OHIO HEALTH who helped with the copies for the donor info packet.
Ohio Court Reporter's Association for their generous donation to the wig fund.
Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Warricka who also gave a donation.
Those sweet Daughters of Erin continue to support our efforts to cover heads with their kind monetary gift.
THIS WEEK reporter Jennifer Nesbitt who wrote of the wig fund in an article about the "Parenting Salon" show episode.

LISA PAQUETTE'S GRANDMOTHER
Lisa Paquette is a trainer and yoga teacher. She recently told us that her grandmother was on a bowling team called the "Hair Pins." Lisa said the bowlers had shirts they proudly sported with Hair Pins emblazoned across the back.

LUCY'S FINAL HAIR THOUGHTS
La Patrice attended a humor conference in Upstate New York this summer. The keynote speaker was the very entertaining and inspiring Lucie Arnaz. Lucie gave a talk about the importance of laughter for our general well being. She also did a session called, "Ask Lucie" where you could ask her anything about her famous parents, Lucy and Desi Arnaz.
Lucie told the story of her mother's final days. Lucy had an aneurysm and Lucie was called to the hospital. Lucille Ball was in an oxygen tent but mumbling and obviously very weak. Her daughter got very close and asked the nurse permission to lift the mask a moment to hear what her mother was saying.
Lucie lifted the mask and Lucille Ball said with great sadness, "I was supposed to have my hair colored today!"
Lucy died that night.

THE HAIRDO MONOLOGUES
Hair Theater comes in a variety of episodes. La Patrice has always wanted to orchestrate, "The Hairdo Monologues." When she read about The Groove Group in Columbus Dipatch's Joe Blundo's column she knew she had found the group who could commit.
The Groove Group (Girls Realizing Outrageous Opportunities with Variety for Everyone) is the brainchild of group leader, Sheri Widder. These wonderful women are hell bent on having adventures and a good time.
They also earn merit badges for their activities. The Groovettes committed to 5 two hour workshops and to the work of the additional work of producing The Hairdo Monologues. They wrote their own hair stories to be included. La Patrice received funding from IQ*ity (an educational software system) for her work in writing, directing, and performing the show with the Groove Group.
