Today it is exactly 6 years that Eric passed away, it always makes me kinda sad and still a little angry.
I´m trying hard to keep all my memories alive so I can tell Lola (his beatifull daughter) what Eric meant to me. She´s only 5 years old and has to hear from others what her father was like.
To me Eric was always the guy with the balls, he did and said things I didn´t dare to, the boy who refused to grow up and did the things he wanted to do without being egoistic. He made his dreams come true; building an old car to a muscle car, riding a awesome Harley and... become a tattoo-artist.
Most of my memories are connected to music; spending a few days on vacation together where he drove me mad by playing she sells sactuary (the Cult) about a hundred times a day, at that time I didn´t like rock but that song never left my brains anymore.
Also a drive together in his old Volvo singing very loud together the right ting (Simply Red) which we both didn´t like.
Eric handed me cd´s of Gary Moore and Jeff Healey and my re-interest in rock (at age of 18 till 28 I was into soulmusic, we all make mistakes) was born. Till this day on lots of artist remind me of Eric, he served me lots of bandnames.
We went together to my first concert (Pat Travers) and we got both extremely drunk, we talked about life and death and it was the first time his talked open to me about his desease. I had a terrible hangover the next day and was concerned over Eric, lots of beer and a desease don´t go well together but he was doing great!
I´m planning to write all my memories down, just for Lola so she can learn at a later age about her dad. Hopefully more people are going to do so, there are many friends and family out there who knew Eric longer and better than I did.
If any one who knew Eric reads this and wants lo leave a message or a memorie; feel free! Dutch will do, I´m going to do that too
