This is a great quote that I read at he end of a book I just finished.

"When you send a man out with a gun, you create a policymaker. When his ass is on the line he will do whatever he needs to do. And if the implications of that bother you the time to do something about it is before you decide to send him out." -David Drake

A good point that politicians should think about before acting...

Seriously, can anyone answer this question?I have recently run into that barrier that is often called "Judgemental" that people put up when they think something is wrong and it offends their sensibilities.  I can understand it...sometimes. If I can answer the question above, I am alright with it, provided the reason isn't related to "They have their heads up their asses..." or "That's just the way it is..." or "Because...Just Because..."

As an example, I can understand the answer to the question when it comes to such things as:

"Why is it wrong to touch a hot iron?"

"Why is it wrong to clean a loaded gun?"

or

"Why is it wrong to mix bleach and ammonia?"

Then we get to the other questions that are not so easily answered.

"Why is wrong for a (White, Black, Asian) person to have a relationship with a (non-White, Black, Asian) person?"

"Why is it wrong for an old person to have a relationship with an adult younger person?"

and the one that got me:

"Why is it wrong for two adult persons of opposite genders to move in together when they are not married?"

And if any of you answer: "Because the bible tells me so..." expect to get a response that is the next best thing to verbal napalm....

So yes, I am feeling belligerent, betrayed, and upset...but I really want to know:  Why is it wrong?

Playing: DJ Tieto's Club Life Podcast 82
Song: Super 8 & Tab vs Nadia Ali - Crash & Elektra (Eteson Bootleg)

Yeah, that's what I am listening too as I start this latest Blog.  This is a great podcast.

Anyway, it's snowing here.  Surprise!  Wait, it's December in Western NY, of course it's snowing!  Duh!

It has put a crimp in the social events for a bit.  Those that have to travel have to consider the slower traffic and increased risk of getting stuck in the snow.  Years ago, this "storm" would have been a shoulders shrugged sort of whatever.  That was back before buffalo in all of its wisdom decided to get rid of half the fleet of snow plows to reduce costs.  Now, it is a sort of wait a day or two thing.

It doesn't stop me from getting places I have to go.  I have all-terrain, two foot drive on my personal vehicle.  I might be slow getting there, but the snow don't stop me!  Of course there are a few places I would LIKE to go...

Australia.

That is one place I would like to go.  Of course it IS summer down there right now.  Not that I am complaining about the snow and cold, it doesn't really bother me.  I understand however, that there are those that are unaccustomed to life in the northern climes.

So here I sit contemplating snow cones and thinking about you all.

Cheers!

Can we say "Landslide"?

Either way you look at it, this was going to be an historic election.  We would have had our first female vice president or our first black president.  We got the later, as you all know by now.

But, did we get the right president?

Given the choices, I am going to say we got the better candidate of the for president, and certainly the more experienced of the two for vice president.  I don't really care all that much about the Vice president.  People do not, and should not, elect a candidate based on the person in running for Vice President.  The issue should always be the candidate for president.

So we get Mr President Barack Obama.  Here is an open suggestion to the president-elect:  Don't forget why and how you got elected.  Don't forget that the last president made such a mess of things that the people of this country handed a resounding victory to the opposition.  Make good on some of those promises for change, because if you don't there is going to be ANOTHER riled up electorate and they are going to hand you your walking papers.

And we get a much stronger Democratic congress.  Say what you want about the presidential race, it is just a red herring for the truly important part:  Congress.  The president is a nice face to put on our country, but the congress is the will of the people.  They MAKE the laws.  John and Barack can promise all these policies until they are blue in the face, without Congress they are just hot air.

So to Congress: Make change happen.

To the Democrats:  Get off your @$$es and do the job you were elected for, or the people will give you the same treatment they gave the republicans.

That's all for now...

Humeur actuelle :  en éveil

So it is happening even now, as I sit here and watch history unfolding.  Wall street has just been handed a scathing condemnation by the law makers in the house of representatives.  The voters are enraged, at least a very vocal part of them, anyways, and the law makers are actually forced to listen.

I am not surprised, shocked, or even disappointed.

Do I think that it is a good thing to have Wall Street collapse in this manner?  No, not really.  I think everyone is going to suffer the consequences.  But, I have to ask, what did they think was going to happen?

The fact is that the elements of big business and the current government that so desperately want to avert this crisis are only really reaping what they have sown.  They have been betting on a house of cards and suddenly that house has begun to crumble.

Those of us that have been struggling to make ends meet in this "healthy" economy are laughing our assets off as the big boys suddenly begin to feel our pain.

The sad thing is that, though this will hurt them, they will just pass it on to the foundation on which their wealth is made and the general public will end up paying for it anyways, one way or the other.

Hi all, I realize it has been a while since I posted anything.  I would just like to pass on a recommendation for some books to read.  I have recently been doing a great deal of reading and have just finished the four books of the March Upcountry series written by John Ringo and David Weber.  They are science fiction/action books with a military theme and lots of violence, but they are also quite engrossing.  Quite complimentary to Marines as well...

If you get the chance, give 'em a read...

WARNING: If you are a super vegetarian, the following blog may offend you.

This blog derives from the following article: http://www.peta.org/feat_in_vitro_contest.asp

So now we are looking for a way to make meat without killing animals.  How nice.  Do you realize that everything you can derive nutrient value from is from previously (or still) living tissue?  When I sit down to eat my steak (medium rare, I like it a little bloody, but too rare is a bit chewy) I know that the creature who gave its life to sustain me had a chance to live, maybe even reproduce.  It was an adult animal.

I know, and accept, that when I consume something, another thing died to feed me.  I respect and honor that sacrifice; I never take it for granted.  On the other hand, I know that I cannot prevent the slaughter of creatures in order to provide sustenance for myself.

On the other, when I sit down with that bowl of peas sitting in front of me, I am about to chow down on some poor, helpless plant's BABIES!  Yes, many of the vegetables that you eat are the babies of something that is ALIVE!

Deal with it!

I wish it were possible for me to survive and live without having to kill another creature.  It AIN'T happen'in!

Gonna have to learn to deal with it.

Of course, on the other hand, we could find a way to generate pseudo flesh that kills no living creatures...wait, all living tissue is comprised of cells and those are alive...

I guess I am just not an ELITIST that thinks the only living things that deserve consideration are FROM MY OWN KINGDOM!

BAH!

I am an animal creature.  I must consume life to live.  At least I admit it and accept it, and try to remember (respect and honor) that sacrifice.

...start saving the pictures from all those spam friends requests I keep getting.

I would have a MASSIVE collection of near porn. Of course, I just got one where the (rather leggy) young lady was wearing these really amazing boots with eight inch heels and two inch lifts on the bottom of the boots.  I don't think she was wearing much else, but those boots were pretty fantastic so I wasn't paying much attention...

Of course, I wonder about these spam friend requests.  Obviously they get enough hits from people to keep putting out the effort.  Does anybody really believe that the person that sent the request REALLY looks like that picture?  Some of these things are obviously carbon copies of a profile with a different picture and name...

Come on, can we get any more lame!?

And they are all ads anyways for some site with "booty" pics or "hook-up" ads...

...if you play along expect VD (over 100 flavors available)!

DUH!

Of course, all of the "friends" of this "extremely hot" person that has requested to be your friend have a serious case of "hard-body", "stacked fender", or "booty-bumper" syndrome.

Yeah buddy, some super chika REALLY wants to be your friend.  After all, you have so much to offer her, with your acne, round belly, video-game playing godhood, and cheap fake gold jewelry...

GET REAL!

It was most definitely a Good Day today.  Thought I would share that.
I mean the sun was shining when I got up and I was in a very good mood.  I must have really gotten on the nerves of my co-workers with my really happy mood.  I was cracking my usual me jokes left and right, quoting (and misquoting) movies and literature; and paraphrasing songs.
Then, when the work day was done I got to go on a bike ride!  The first big one of the year.  Yay me!
What's to be said other than that?
