The Hawaii Fashion Incubator (aka Hifi) is charging into the Year of the Ox with a slew of exciting new projects and events!   Read more about what we’re up to and find out how to get involved below…

Incubating the Next Generation of Fashion Writers…
Hifi is pleased to announce a new collaboration with The Honolulu Advertiser.   Starting now, Hifi members interested in getting ahead in the competitive field of fashion writing are invited to submit contributions to the Advertiser's Fashion Forum blog.  Receive professional feedback from Advertiser staff, develop your blogging persona, and gain exposure through one of Hawaii’s most prestigious media outlets!   Paula Rath publicized our nascent collaboration in last week’s Fashion News.  Interested writers, contact Melissa@hawaiifashion.org for details. 

Hifi Designers Take Center Stage at February Night Market!
The February installment of the popular “Night Market” event at Aloha Tower Waterfront will feature a fashion show of local designers from Hifi’s membership!  Produced by Hawaii Red Magazine, the show (and the event) promises to be spectacular.  As always, Hifi will also have a booth at the market where designers can sell their work.  Booth space is still available – please contact Jodi (karijane@hawaii.rr.com) for details.   Event is Wednesday, February 18, 5-10 pm. 

Green Style on the Big Isle, April 10-11, 2009
Hifi is planning our second annual eco-fashion weekend April 10-11 in Kailua-Kona in partnership with Hawaii Red Magazine.   The weekend of events will introduce Hifi to the Big Island community and raise awareness for homegrown and sustainable fashion.   On Friday, Hifi, Organik, and Green Drinks will host a VIP reception, fashion panel, and after-party at Sushi En Fuego.  On Saturday Hifi, All Things Creative, and Hawaii Red Magazine will showcase local designers, boutiques, and beauty vendors in an Eco-Market & fashion show, and Organik will host an Ecolounge after-party.   Hifi will begin accepting online vendor registration for this event soon.  Stay tuned for details!

* Fashionista’s Market will host a one day event this Saturday, February 7 at Luana Hills Country Club featuring exclusive designer denim, must have spring dresses, tops, swimwear, accessories & MORE for up to 50%-80% off retail!  10am-4pm, $3 for FM members/$7 general public.  Visit www.fashionistasmarket.com for details.

* Ground Up Modeling Agency is hosting an open casting call for models this Saturday, February 7 at the Honolulu Design Center from 10:30 am to 3:00 pm.  Open to ages 17 and up.  Bring photos, valid id, and portfolio.  For more information, please contact: Noa (nboss@groundupmovement.com) or Steve at (steve@groundupmovement.com).

* Kane Magazine is seeking designers and models to participate in a spring Men’s fashion show on March 27 at the Honolulu Design Center.   For more information contact Doris Bitonio at 225-2272 or doris@kanemag.com.

Aloha MySpacers,
We've been MIA on our Myspace blog for a bit, working to establish new projects and partnerships and continuing our mission to move Hawaii fashion forward. 
We are still aiming to be a one-stop shop for info and resources on fashion in Hawaii, and so we're pleased to announce that we've merged our blog with The Honolulu Advertiser's Fashion Forum, a new blog with all the haps on HI fashion.
