What an amazing amazing time. I arrived in Toronto some time ago (nearly 3
weeks) and stayed with my friends Ali and Amy for a few days. They were very
lovely and took me around some of the sights and the Yankees v Bluejays
baseball game. I also visited the stadium and did a tour of it, and the CN
tower which has a glass floor hundreds of feet above the ground.

Then the rest of the team arrived and we visited Niagara Falls -
unbelievable, beautiful, amazing - got lots of pictures and video.

On the Tuesday we drove to Algonquin National Park and stayed there a night
in log cabins. If I had only 24 hours to live - that Tuesday would be the 24
hours I would do. The park was sooo beautiful, our cabins were right on a
the lake, our meals were 3 course gourmet food, the most picturesque
setting, canoeing, swimming in the freshwater lake, diving in etc and the
THE most romantic night under the stars - watching satellites and shooting
stars and listening to all the animals in the forest. And yes, got to share
the romantic atmosphere with a beautiful beautiful woman. (more later). The
following day we hiked around some of the touristy trails in the park and
then drove back, only to get a puncture on our car, but the butch guys
changed the tyre heroically in the rain (although some how when we'd
returned the story had altered to everything thinking I'd be the most butch
and most able to change the tyre. Hah!)

On the Thursday I was ill so rested. On the Friday we got the train to
Montreal, registered our attendance at the games and went out and found the
rest of the team in the gay village of montreal. It's so big! (and montreal
is very very french it was weird knowing we were in north america but only
being able to communicate to locals in French).

On the Sat it was the opening ceremony which involved our teams parading
into the olympic stadium under the UK flag, and also throwing a Raiders cap
to KD Lang and her wearing it for the whole of "constant craving" - on
national TV (See
http://www.montrealgamespix.com/ceremonies/entertainment/index.html)

Sunday was our first game and we basically played, slept, ate and drank our
way through to the end of Friday. Our team came fourth, we lost in the semis
and then again in the bronze medal playoff) buyt we did really well and our
game really came together by the end. (not bad considering we were a mixed
team playing against mostly men's teams) Our men;s team got gold! and one of
the women's team got a silver.

This Sat was the closing ceremony and we all saw Liza Minelli (quite sad
really). Sun we chilled out by the harbour area and took the amphibus tour
(a bus which also travels on water, very James Bond) and yesterday my last
day (sob sob) we made it to a theme park which had some awesome
rollercoasters.

And then i left, which was very sad as most of the team actually come home
today. But more sad because yes, I fell for one of my team mates quite hard
out there (and her for me!), and we had a wicked time. But she has a
girlfriend back here in the UK so we kind of have to deal with that now.
Grr. So watch this space. ANd trust me to go to a place with 10000 lesbians
and come back a) with someone I already knew and b)someone who isn;t single.
Never take the easy road.

Photos etc etc to follow! But check out here for some previews:

Current mood:  excited
I finally got to see my new favourite band last night and I am soooo happy. The Rogues were sooo good, singing and playing their hearts out and Nat B was just so incredibly hot and performed amazingly. Incredible. They had the crown bouncing bouncing bouncing up and down, and everyone knew all the words which i think surprised them! Great night - come back soon guys!

there is no gay scene here in ayia napa - at all. I feel like the only gay in the village, only it's a big fuck off tourist city.

Current mood:  embarrassed
We lost abysmally yet again. But we played ok, apart from when i batted, hit the ball, a nice fly hit but I had spun so hard I fell over on the batting plate. so embarrassing.

I got a few good outs when fielding, but one did cause me to fall over again. Then we had a few (many) drinks at the pub and I fell over again on the way to the train station.  Just call me laughing stock!

Current mood:  busy
Finally managed to set up my long awaited wireless network so I can surf the net in the privacy of my bedroom - and have full control over the TV remote (or DVD player - re-watching 24 series 1 right now).

It's been a long and trying process - with the first 2 rouers failing to even power up. Third router came and now we've got the PC back and working (broken fan causing the PC to keep overheating) I set up the network today.

The only bummer is I have no excuse not to work now.

Current mood:  embarrassed
So somehow I managed to get soooo drunk last night (without spending even a penny and now oweing loads of drinks) that I lost track of all time, missed my last train home (and had to take a more expensive route home) and lost my railcard. Darn it. I am not a 'young person' anymore. At least I had the sense to put a big glass of squash at my bedside that has dulled the hangover a little. Oh I am soooo ashamed. I'm sure I embarrassed myself completely. D'oh.
