Hello,
I’m am writing to you from lovely California. I have been here since finishing my last tour of 2009 with The XX and The Friendly Fires on the West Coast in early December.
Being as it is two days before New Years Eve, I have been reflecting on the year that has past. I cannot begin to say how grateful I am to everyone who has come out to support Timmy and I on the road. To those of you who have given us warm, home cooked meals; a cozy bed to sleep in or visited me at the merch table and kept me company. We could not have done it with out you.
From the Midwest tour with AA Bondy, the East Coast with The Antlers, Europe with The XX, and then again with The XX and The Friendly Fires on the West Coast. We have been busy, but there has been no shortage of good music and amazing people surrounding us at all times.
I am happy to announce that it looks like the coming year will be more of the same…
First I am so excited to say that we will be opening for Vampire Weekend in New York on January 18th at Webster Hall!
Secondly, beginning in February, we will be touring across the continental United States with Tegan & Sara!!!  The tour dates are below, PLEASE GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!
Last, but not least, I'm happy to announce that my full-length album The Magician's Private Library will be out on XL Recordings February 23rd!
Cheers! Here’s to 2010!

I hope this finds everyone safe and warm and having a happy holly day!
See you in the new year!
xoxo,
Holly

Hello,

I'm writing to you from a warm room on a chilly Brooklyn morning. Since the end of September Timmy and I have been out on the road. We kicked it off with The Antlers in Chicago, headed across the Midwest and up to Toronto, Buffalo (Niagara Falls!!) then down to DC, Philly, Dartmouth College (which IS an Ivy League school, dammit!) and finally back home with a show at Maxwell's. You can hear a song from that set where The Antlers joined us onstage for a Pink Floyd cover. It was hard to leave The Antlers, we really fell head over heels for them.
More to come from Holly/The Antlers collaboration, don't you worry...

A few days later, Timmy and I hopped a plane across the pond to London and played one night opening for the lovely Wild Beasts and Blue Roses (both really great bands!); took a train to Paris to meet up with The xx and the big orange tour bus. From there we drove to Amsterdam (with a couple stow-aways, no seriously) and had quite the Epica experience.

From there we played at a beautiful venue in Brussels (watch a video of us playing "No One Just Is"), after that we played a few shows in Germany, we had a minor set back in Munich when the bus broke down  in the center of town on a very narrow turn (sorry drivers of Munich).
Alas, Rich the mighty tour manager and Terry the "extraordinary at everything" man, saved the day with an 11 hour train journey to Bologna (by way of  fair Verona... where we all stopped and quoted a little Shakespeare).

The last few days are a bit of a sleepless daze, there was a show in Milan and a 4am flight back to London with The XX kids, who are absolute gems! We had such a blast with all of them..

Timmy and I played one more show (our first headlining) in London, before getting on a flight back to New York to play two shows as part of the College Music Journal Festival (aka CMJ... click here to see a video of "Mark My Words" at Le Poisson Rouge.

Lastly, a few days after the CMJ madness died down Timmy and I had the great honor of playing a show at Bowery Ballroom with our dear, dear friends Nada Surf backing us! Holy Crow! There are some good pictures here.

Its been a busy but interesting Fall so far, now we have two weeks to catch our breath before heading down to Austin and then out to the West Coast for a string of dates with The XX and The Friendly Fires!! We will be traveling from San Diego all the way to Vancouver, but I have a feeling the dates are going to go quickly, so get your tickets now!!

After that I'm checking out until February (when the record comes out... yessss!)... That was a lengthy, but much needed update...

I hope this finds you all well, and welcome to all the new additions.

Thank yous for the support!

XL Recordings is excited to announce the signing of HOLLY MIRANDA. Holly is a New York based musician and her debut album will be released in early 2010. It will be preceded by a 7"/digital single in November with a song called "Forest Green Oh Forest Green" and a cover of Yoko Ono's "Nobody Sees Me Like You Do".

Holly has been singing for as long as she can remember. She first began playing in New York at age 16, when she dropped out of high school in Michigan, told her mom she was going to visit her sister in New York for a few weeks, and never turned back. She soon discovered the world of the East Village and started playing at places like The Sidewalk and meeting kindred spirits in the New York scene. Whether solo or with her band, she's become an artist consistently able to mesmerize with her range as well as her songs.

Holly starts a tour with Antlers tonight in Chicago, and will be in Europe in October for shows with Wild Beasts and The xx. She will be back in NYC for a CMJ show on October 23rd.
