'Remember, remember the 05th of November!'

The amazing, manga inspired, renegade, fugitive band PSYDOLL, from Tokyo, Japan collide with raging, flash art, flash music creation, METALTECH from Edinburgh.

Propping up these comic book inspired stage acts and to add a touch of 'art-house' respectability tinged with total chaos, our wholly music theatre influenced trinity is completed by 'the Come Club Collective, DJ's and interactive artists!'

Together they take over the fabulous Voodooroom's Ballroom for a night of music circus inspired, mayhem, fireworks*, art, dancing, visuals, eye-popping and aurally inspired music and arts performances.

Psydoll are Nekoi, Uenoyama and Ucchi in Edinburgh on their UK, 'Through the Spyglass Tour,' 2009.

METALTECH are: Erik Tricity, Lord Thrapston Flagellator and System V

Come Club and Collective include Benjamin Newell, the 'Get Messy' DJ's, Steven Morrison, Callum Monteith and a cast of thousands of arthouse collaborators far too numerous to mention individually here! We thank them all!

Our mystery burlesque dancer and fabulous assistant will be, er, wearing a gas mask so you may not recognise her anyway but come see how hot she is in it! More on her to follow in subsequent updates!

Metaltech, metal-industrial band with uncontrollably wild, electronic beats, sequences and a show that is a charismatic celebration of flash art inspired rock music stage performance, signed to Alex Tronic Records.

Come Club and Collective develop and present multi sensory, interactive music and art club events. They work with bands, art installations, performances, DJS and visuals with the aim to create completely different clubbing experiences.

Together with our fabulous burlesque assistant, they bring you a night of music theatre and circus. Probably, the biggest, wildest, craziest music event, anyone has ever fitted into Edinburgh's most bijou venue! They will probably say that it shouldn't have been done, but here it is anyway! For one insane night only! Experience the mesmerizing stage presence of these incredible acts, in one truly entertaining show and one amazing afterparty! Everyone is invited!

*To avoid disappointment, please note that any fireworks mentioned above are by necessity, metaphorical ones. This is because they had to get the word 'fireworks' in somehow, as it is all on the 05th of November aka 'fireworks night,' for the kids! Well these are all grown up fireworks, certificate LPG and then some!

Nightnews Comment :: Just when you thought things couldn't be worst, what with the mad mullahs, war, genocide, the swine flu and the greedy bankers economic meltdown, some halfwits in Camden (London, England, UK) of all places and the dreaded UK .gov have decided to regulate 'burlesque performance and the performng arts' with the same ham fisted regulations that they use for er 'lap dancing,' establishments!

Say protestors, '...burlesque is not only been banned in the London Borough of Camden but under new licensing laws (SEEL), we will also be put within the same category as strip clubs and lap dancers!'....

Needless to say Nightnews knows you will all be bright enough to realise the implications of this .gov and council led stupidity on the performing arts in general if its allowed to go unchallenged! Think of the Fringe, think what 'Isadora Duncan,' would have said!

We therefore ask that you support the 'Pastie Protest in Camden on 30 May,' and please also read and sign the e-petition below. Writing to the usual suspects at your local council and various parliaments is probably also a good idea.

And please run this past all your mates on your personal mailing lists and ask them to do the same!

:: About the Edinburgh Alternative Club Scene

Says one successful, longstanding Goth Promoter & DJ who moved south, about Edinburgh’s alternative club scene. "I do not need to affirm my friendships by ostracizing other people.... I like to make up my own mind about people and don’t like people telling me whom I should be friends with..;" and, "I am so glad I had the opportunity to move away from Edinburgh. There are still some people up there that I have a lot of respect for, but the scene is repugnant."  

Most visitors to the city certainly find the locals ’unfriendly’ and the clubs with a ’funny’ atmosphere; Nightnews has heard visitors say, ’Whats wrong with these people!?,’ time and time again!

Nightnews considers the following to have cast long shadows over the scene. A lot of the problematic individuals in the scene are NOT goth at all. Firstly, alt Edinburgh has a network of clubbers that consider themselves ’poly,’ which to them means they have free licence to approach anyone at all. Monogamous dating couples seeing their partner approached may disagree and consider this to be ’sleazy.’ Secondly, some alt clubbers have numbered themselves as ’Pagan’s,’ which to them means that, ’they can do as they will,’ and as the preceding, have done untold damage. Those that know the full wiccan reed disagree with these false-pagans, because the full reed states; "Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill: As Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will." Thirdly, goth nights flirting with techno and dance in the early noughties not only introduced some new music but also new illegal substances into the scene, both of which diluted the customer base and actually lost some promoters their venues; therebye damaging the scene further! It also attracted a variety of drugged-up, usually cyberdog disguised and alcopop-crazed undesirables into what had been, ’something better.’ Finally, several years of £1.00 a drink all night promos in a number of rock venues on Sundays (and at some points nearly every day of the week) further decimated (with muffin tops and alcoholism) the local goth and rock scene which has always been largely alcohol centred!

Unfortunately, even WORST than all of the above has also gone on; primarily internecine badmouthing, evil gossip and dirty tricks between certain club promoters and the fawning, obsequious, cliques that they have encouraged; this has also dragged the whole scene down and many of the old staple clubs are now in steady decline for that very reason. Pathetic attempts to run gothic monopolies by repeated attempts at undermining other clubs have proven hugely counter-productive.

Former old supporters have had enough and have voted with their changing tastes.... but you may make your own minds up about all of this yourselves at some of these Edinburgh nights...

On a more positive note, those fabulous clubbers that have been lost in droves by the old Edinburgh goth clubs have found new inspiration in other clubs like Vegas and the city’s burgeoning burlesque club scene!

Other fashion and music conscious former goths that find the music policies and social structure of the old Edinburgh goth scene restrictive, have discovered that they can dress as goths if they like and enjoy unhindered, some of the city’s finest, nu wave, post post-punk and post-goth indie nights; playing great tunes from retro 60’s to progressive electronic and indie mixes.

As for the newly legal, until only recently underage kids coming out of unders-clubs such as the now defunct and infamous, ’mission junior;’ (closed down by the police.) They are embracing a variety of styles loosely described as emo, indi-emo, post-hardcore, hardcore gabba, gabber, screamo, grindcore, post rock, psychobilly, 80’s trad-power metal, contemporary goth-metal and just about everything but goth! These ’newbies’ have generally found their home at the newly re-launched Hive (ex-Subway but in the former Honeycombe venue) in Niddry Street.

Overall, alternative people will continue to have fun but the new intake to the scene will be doing so in new clubs and venues, with different DJ’s and dancing to a wider variety of musical genres! No wonder!

The book contains thirty pages full of images, plus also the opening and credits pages (i.e. 32 pages).  It is bound with a hard cover, which has a window looking onto the opening page's image of the May Queen. Each page of the book measures approximately 8.5"x11", and is printed at 300dpi onto 170gsm Allegro paper.
