FUCK YOU MASTROMARINO....ROT

Brooklyn, June 27, 2008 – Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes today announced the sentencing of Michael Mastromarino, mastermind behind a multi-million dollar human tissue theft conspiracy.

In accordance with a March 18 guilty plea, Mastromarino was sentenced today to 18 to 54 years in prison.

Mastromarino, 44, Joseph Nicelli, 52, Lee Cruceta, 35, and Christopher Aldorasi, 36, were all charged in February 2006, in a 122-count indictment, with orchestrating a large-scale, criminal enterprise, in which tissues were harvested from people who never consented before they died, to be donors. Those tissues were then sold to medical companies for use in surgical transplants, such as bone and skin grafts.

Aldorasi was sentenced earlier this month to nine to 27 years in prison. Nicelli's and Cruceta's cases are still pending.

The cases are being prosecuted by Rackets Division Bureau Chief Patricia McNeil, Deputy Bureau Chief Josh Hanshaft, Rackets Division First Deputy Bureau Chief Michael Perkins and Chief Counsel to the Rackets Division Monique Ferrell. Michael Vecchione is Chief of the Rackets Division.

KINGS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY CHARLES J. HYNES ANNOUNCES NINE TO 27 YEAR SENTENCE IN HUMAN TISSUE THEFT CONSPIRACY CASE

Brooklyn, June 18, 2008 – Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes today announced the sentencing of Christopher Aldorasi, 36, to nine to 27 years in prison, before Justice Albert Tomei.  He was convicted on April 28, on 20 of the 22 counts he was charged with, in a multi-million dollar human tissue theft conspiracy.

Aldorasi was convicted on the top charge of Enterprise Corruption, a Class-B Felony. Other charges Aldorasi was convicted of included Falsification of Business Records in the First Degree, Grand Larceny in the Third Degree and Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree.

Aldorasi and four codefendants, Michael Mastromarino, 44; Joseph Nicelli, 52; and Lee Cruceta, 35, were all charged in February 2006, in a 122-count indictment, with orchestrating a large-scale, criminal enterprise, in which tissues were harvested from people who either never consented before they died, to be donors, or whose medical conditions or ages would have prevented them from donating tissue. Those tissues were then sold to medical companies for use in surgical transplants, such as bone and skin grafts.

Mastromarino pleaded guilty in March and will be sentenced June 27, to 18 to 54 years in prison. Cruceta pleaded guilty and testified against Aldorasi. He will be sentenced at a later date. Nicelli's case is still pending.

The cases were prosecuted by Rackets Division Bureau Chief Patricia McNeil, Deputy Bureau Chief Josh Hanshaft, Rackets Division First Deputy Bureau Chief Michael Perkins and Chief Counsel to the Rackets Division Monique Ferrell. Michael Vecchione is Chief of the Rackets Division.

June 13, 2008 --

Admitted body-parts harvester Michael Mastromarino heard yesterday from the enraged victims of his anatomical chop-shop, but dodged formal sentencing to an 18- to 54-year jail term because of a paperwork glitch.

"It's horrible what they did. I'll never be the same," cried Donna Gage, 36, whose mother, Georgia Beaton, was butchered by Mastromarino and his crew at a mortuary in Rochester.

"We were hoping that she could finally find peace. And she didn't.

"I hate myself every day for picking the funeral home."

Anthony Dumaine, whose father, Thomas, a wounded World War II veteran, was carved up, scoffed at Mastromarino's contention he was helping people by increasing the supply of bone and ligament available for grafts and transplants.

"Did you think you were helping me, his only son, by breaking my final promise that he would be laid out and buried with dignity?" asked Dumaine.

"I will forever know that I was unable to keep that solemn promise because you wanted to make more money."

Dumaine then told Mastromarino:

"You are a butcher of lifeless bodies and you deserve to spend every day of 54 years in a jail cell. Only then will justice be served."

Mastromarino, 44, offered an apology that left most of the victims cold.

"I'd just like to take the opportunity to apologize for the pain and grief I've caused to the donor families and the donor recipients," he said.

"God have mercy on my soul."

Stephanie Berardini, 36, of Denver, who received dental implants made from possibly diseased bone, said the apology didn't strike a chord.

"It didn't strike anything at all," she said. "It wasn't heartfelt. I'm sorry I wasn't able to see him sentenced."

Mastromarino was set to receive a negotiated 18-to-54-year sentence after having pleaded guilty and cooperated with prosecutors, but an incomplete pre-sentence report put off formal sentencing until June 27.

But rather than turn away the scores of victims, many of whom traveled to the sentencing, Justice John Walsh allowed the heart-wrenching victim-impact statements.

Mastromarino's lawyer, Mario Gallucci, said the statements had a profound effect on his client.

"My client, today, after hearing from the victims, fully recognizes the effect he had on them," Gallucci said.

"He certainly did not intend on doing what he did. He is truly apologetic and he set forth to do this in a legitimate way, to help people, and unfortunately it ended in a way that it did not."

Mastromarino was the admitted ringleader of a group that harvested bone, tendon, heart valves and other body parts from more than a 1,000 corpses in funeral homes in Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Manhattan and Rochester.

Three other men were charged in the multimillion-dollar operation. Chris Aldorasi, 36, a "cutter," is awaiting sentence after being convicted after trial.

Fellow cutter Lee Cruceta, 35, pleaded guilty and testified against Aldorasi in exchange for an 81/3-to-25-year sentence.

The case against Joseph Nicelli, 52, the owner of the Daniel George & Son Funeral Home in Brooklyn, where much of the illegal harvesting was conducted, has been delayed due to injuries he suffered in a fall at a Jersey City, NJ, construction site.

NEW YORK (AP) — The mastermind behind a multimillion-dollar scheme to loot hundreds of corpses and sell their body parts apologized Thursday to families of the victims and thousands of tissue recipients.

Michael Mastromarino, a former oral surgeon who owned Biomedical Tissue Services, told victims of the scheme he was sorry for the pain and grief he caused. The New Jersey company shipped bones, skin and tendons to tissue processors.

Mastromarino was in court for a sentencing hearing but the sentencing was postponed because the probation report wasn't finished. He is to be sentenced later this month.

Victims of the scheme called Mastromarino "greedy" and "heartless" and asked that he be sentenced to the maximum 54 years.

Stephanie Berardini of Denver, who received dental implants from a body that hadn't been properly screened for disease, said the tissue and bone will "forever be a part of me."

"The disgust factor is enormous," she said. "I will never be the same because of his actions."

Anthony Dumaine of Brooklyn, whose father's body was plundered, questioned the sincerity of Mastromarino's apology. "I don't feel like that was from his heart," Dumaine said outside the courtroom.

In March, Mastromarino admitted he ran the macabre operation from 2001 to 2005. He pleaded guilty to charges of enterprise corruption, body stealing and reckless endangerment.

Three others who worked at Mastromarino's medical firm were charged, as were funeral home directors in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The bodies, including that of "Masterpiece Theatre" host Alistair Cooke, were carved up without permission and were not medically screened. They were sold around the country for dental implants, knee and hip replacements and other procedures. About 10,000 people received tissue supplied by BTS.

After the hearing, Mario Gallucci, Mastromarino's lawyer, said his client felt the "full force and effect of what he did" after listening to victims speak.

Fuck you Gallucci....back in 2007 when I did a story for the AP your words were "this woman should be thankful" for the tainted bone grafts I got.  I hope your client rots in jail you sick fuck

Michael Mastromarino pleads guilty in US body snatchers’ case

March 19, 2008 08:59am

A FORMER dentist charged with stealing body parts from more than 1000 corpses pleaded guilty in a New York court today, in a case that will likely see him sentenced to at least 18 years in jail.

Michael Mastromarino stands charged with illegally harvesting organs, body parts and tissue from the bodies of people who never consented to be donors, including veteran BBC broadcaster Alistair Cooke.

Mastromarino, 44, whose company sold the human tissue for medical implants, pleaded guilty under the terms of a plea deal that would see him facing 18 to 54 years in jail instead of a life term.

"He recognises that what he did was wrong and he admitted that in court today," said his lawyer, Mario Gallucci.

But he blamed the companies that bought the tissue for pressuring his client into doing what he did.

"He started a legitimate business. He recognised that there was a need for tissues from dead bodies because of major advances in medicine," he said.

"The problem is that things began to go wrong because he was put under a lot of pressure by the processors in this case to get them more and more tissue and as the demand for tissue increased, you know, he began to cut corners.

"Unfortunately it’s not legal to do that."

Mastromarino, who was charged in 2006 along with three other defendants, allegedly made millions of dollars selling the unscreened body tissue, in a ghoulish case compared by prosecutors to "a cheap horror movie".

The four face charges including enterprise corruption, body stealing and opening graves, as well as unlawful dissection.

One of Mastromarino’s co-defendants has pleaded guilty, another is on trial while the third is not being actively pursued on medical grounds.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes described in detail at the time the four were charged how they allegedly replaced the bones of their victims with lengths of piping to avoid arousing suspicion at the victims’ funerals.

According to the indictment, the team forged death certificates and donor consent forms to create the appearance that the tissue was harvested legally.

Though transplant guidelines set age limits and health requirements for donors, the defendants falsified the records.

In the case of Cooke, who was 95 when he died in New York in 2004 from lung cancer, the stolen body parts were listed as coming from a healthy 85-year-old who died of heart failure.

The accused tossed gloves, aprons, and other incriminating evidence into the bodies before sewing them back up, according to prosecutors.

"What happened here ... is like something out of a cheap horror movie," prosecutors said at the time.

"But for the thousands of relatives of the deceased whose body parts were used for profit, and the recipients of the suspect parts, this was no bad movie. This was for real."

According to prosecutors, the defendants allegedly harvested bones and organs from 1077 corpses over a five-year period and then sold them on to transplant companies for use in surgical procedures around the world.

Under the terms of the plea deal, Mastromarino was expected to co-operate with prosecutors in any further investigations against the companies that bought the stolen body parts.

On the open market, one body can bring in as much as $US250,000 ($271,532) for harvesting and transplant companies, according to prosecutors.

Mastromarino is due to be sentenced on May 21.

December 4, 2007 -- The former owner of the Brooklyn funeral home where prosecutors claim a ring of organ thieves harvested bones and tissue from cadavers is unfit to stand trial with his co-defendants, a judge ruled yesterday.

Justice John Walsh separated former Daniel George & Son Funeral Home owner Joseph Nicelli's case from his alleged cohorts' after a serious fall at a Jersey City construction site left him with severe brain injuries.

Michael Mastromarino, Lee Crucetta and Christopher Aldorasi are expected to stand trial on Jan. 8.

Not sure how I feel about this, actually.  The scumbag is GUILTY. but apparantly his injuries will fuck him up the rest of his life....GOOD

Guess I DO know how I feel about him after all.  I hope the medical bills bankrupt him

November 16, 2007 -- The cases of five defendants accused in a scheme to remove body parts from corpses bought from dozens of funeral directors in New York for use in surgeries will go to court in Philadelphia following their arraignments.

Funeral directors Louis Garzone, 65, of Philadelphia, Gerald Garzone, 47, of North Wales, Pa., and James McCafferty, 37, of Philadelphia, appeared before Trial Commissioner Russell Joell for the Wednesday arraignments.

Michael Mastromarino, operator of now-defunct Biomedical Tissue Services of Fort Lee, N.J., is being held in lieu of $5 million bail, and Lee Cruceta, a former nurse, is being held on $1.5 million bail.

A grand jury presentment said Mastromarino paid the Garzones and McCafferty $1,000 each for 244 bodies from which parts were removed without family consent. Joell scheduled a Dec. 10 pretrial conference where a judge will consider trial scheduling and procedural issues.

Two more plead not guilty in stolen body parts case

Kevin Vickers and Kirssy Knapp Two more people have pleaded not guilty to illegally taking body parts from the deceased and selling them for tissue transplants.

Kirssy Knapp and Kevin Vickers were arraigned Thursday on charges of body stealing, opening graves, unlawfully dissecting bodies, forgery and falsifying records.

No bail was given in the case but both had to surrender their passports. The prosecutor says there's a lot of paperwork involved in this case.

"I need to carry it on a cart I can't carry it. There's a lot of volume of paperwork," said Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Whitman.

Five other people were charged in this case last week. The story broke last year when a district attorney in Brooklyn indicted four men associated with a company called Biomedical Tissue Services. That company also had an office in Brighton and was working with local funeral homes.

7 here charged in body-parts scandal

(May 17, 2007) — Seven people, including three Rochester-area funeral directors, were arraigned this morning on criminal charges stemming from the harvesting of human body parts.

They are the first local charges brought in connection with the scandal surrounding Biomedical Tissue Services, a New Jersey firm that collected bones, skin and other tissue from cadavers and sold them for use in medical procedures. Biomedical, whose closure by regulators two years ago touched off the largest-ever recall of human tissue, operated its sole branch office in suburban Brighton from November 2004 to October 2005.

According to allegations released today, it was in 2005 that Biomedical personnel recovered tissue from bodies in three local funeral homes without obtaining permission from family members. The defendants who were arraigned this morning in state Supreme Court are accused of body-stealing, opening graves and unlawful dissection of human remains, as well as various fraud-related charges. Nearly all the charges are felonies. The charges of opening graves refer to defendants' gaining unlawful access to remains at funeral homes.

The charges are related to the recovery of tissue from 36 bodies at Burger Funeral Home in Hilton, Profetta Funeral Chapel in Irondequoit and Webster, and Serenity Hills Funeral Home in Rochester.

Dozens of relatives of the deceased victims in the case packed a courtroom at the downtown Hall of Justice where the arraignment was conducted. There was a hushed gasp when the charges were first read.

"Put yourself in the position of one of the family members. What we've heard from them is that this was absolutely devastating," Monroe County District Attorney Michael Green said at a news conference following the arraignment.

One family member said she was "glad it's finally progressing.
"Soon we'll have closure," said Jill Wirth of Hilton, who attended court and the news conference. Tissue was taken from the remains of her 82-year-old mother, Ruth Passarella, at the Burger Funeral Home in July 2005.

Wirth said she had tried to be patient while authorities conducted their investigation, which Green said began in March 2006. "I knew it would happen. Given the extent and the number of people involved, I knew it would take a while," she said.

Charged today were:

  • Jason Gano, 31, a former funeral director at Burger Funeral Home.
  • Scott Batjer, 37, funeral director and owner of Profetta Funeral Chapel in Irondequoit and Webster.
  • Serrell Gayton, 59, funeral director and owner of Serenity Hills Funeral Home in Rochester.
  • Kirssy Knapp, 29, of New York City, who managed Biomedical's office in Brighton.
  • Kevin Vickers, 53, of Honeoye, Ontario County, part of Biomedical's tissue recovery team in Rochester.
  • Darlene Deats, 46 of Honeoye, Ontario County, a member of the recovery team.
  • Nicholas Sloyer, 33, of Webster, a member of the recovery team.

Five of the seven pleaded not guilty at arraignments this morning before state Supreme Court Justice Joseph D. Valentino. The three funeral directors agreed to post bail ranging from $5,000 to $10,000, and Deats and Sloyer were released on their own recognizance.

Knapp did not appear for arraignment, prompting Valentino to issue a warrant for her arrest. Vickers' attorney said he was in England for a wedding and is due back next week. His arraignment was rescheduled for May 24.

Biomedical founder Dr. Michael Mastromarino and three other men were charged in February 2006 in Brooklyn with 122 criminal counts related to allegations that they forged documents and harvested tissue without permission in New York City. A later superseding indictment added other counts related to Biomedical's activities in Monroe County. Mastromarino's lawyer has said previously that Mastromarino was not guilty of any criminal conduct, and that it was the responsibility of funeral directors to obtain consent.

Biomedical, which was based in Fort Lee, N.J., closed in October 2005 when the U.S. Food and Drug Administration began an inspection prompted by the allegations of fraud. Because regulators could not be certain that Biomedical had followed proper procedures, thousands of pieces of human tissue were later recalled from the marketplace.

But thousands of other tissues had already been implanted in people during medical procedures, raising concerns that some could have contracted communicable diseases from tainted tissue. At least 450 lawsuits have been filed by implant recipients nationwide, according to a recent story by the Associated Press.

At his news conference today, Green said the recipients of Biomedical's tissues were the other victims in the case.

"Certainly the possibility exists that bone and tissue harvested in connection with this case (in Monroe County) made its way out to the public," he said. "To do something like this is just shocking."

    The 911 Mystery Plane
    First in a Series

    Mark H. Gaffney
    4-5-7

    ..> ..>
On September 11 2001, as the eyes of the nation were focused on the gruesome events at the World Trade Center, the networks interrupted their coverage in New York with a breaking story from Washington. A large plane had just been sighted over the White House. Exactly when it first appeared is not certain, but the reports aired at about the time of the pentagon strike, or just before. Witnesses who saw the mystery plane say it circled over Washington. CNN's Senior White House correspondent John King saw it while standing in Lafayette Park, directly across from the White House. King reported live that "about 10 minutes ago, there was a white jet circling overhead. Now, you generally don't see planes in the area over the White House. That is restricted air space. No reason to believe that this jet was there for any nefarious purposes, but the Secret Service was very concerned, pointing up at the jet in the sky."[1]
Kate Snow, another CNN correspondent, was standing two blocks from the Capitol when she saw the plane. Snow mentioned it on-air, adding that a security guard told her it was responsible for the decision to evacuate the seat of government.[2] In his book Against All Enemies, counter-terrorism czar Richard A. Clark mentions that the decision to evacuate the White House was made after a warning from the Secret Service about the approach of an unidentified aircraft.[3] Was this the mystery plane? ABC, NBC and FOX News picked up the story on 9/11. CNN actually filmed the mysterious plane as it flew over the Capitol, but, unfortunately, it was too far away to identify.
The sighting of a large white plane above the White House and Capitol on September 11, 2001 was very strange, because the airspace over Washington is probably the most restricted on the planet. At the time, the World Trade Center in New York was in flames. Hundreds of people had already perished. Multiple hijackings were known to be in progress. The only planes that should have been in the skies over Washington were fighters for the purpose of protecting the nation's capital. Yet, as we know, the city was undefendedtotally exposed. Scrambled F-16 fighters from Langley AFB, located near Norfolk, Virginia, failed to establish a Combat Air Patrol (CAP) over Washington until shortly before 10 AMmuch too late. And subsequently, as we also know, the 911 Commission absolved the Joint Chiefs of all responsibility. The 9/11 panel put the blame for the security breach squarely on the FAA for failing to notify NORAD of the hijackings. Incidentally, the pentagon has also dismissed the news reports cited above. To this day the US military claims that it knows nothing about a large plane circling over Washington on 9/11. So, what is going on, here? Did a large unidentified plane circle over Washington, or not? And if so, what does it mean?
After a crime it is standard procedure for police detectives to interrogate witnesses who were at the scene, and cross-check their testimony in an attempt to reconstruct what actually happened. Had the members of the 9/11 Commission been serious about their charge to provide "the fullest possible account" of the horrific events of September 11 2001, they would have followed this kind of procedure. Certainly the news reports and eyewitness accounts merited close attention. These were obvious starting points for the official investigation. It was not necessary to go above and beyond the call of duty. Had the members of the panel merely done their job they would have discovered the evidence I am about to present and, in all likelihood, would also have drawn the correct conclusions. But the simple fact is, the commission never investigated the mystery plane. The 9/11 Commission Report doesn't even mention itone of many grave omissions.
After I recently posted an article about 9/11, an independent investigator directed me to some stunning evidenceof which I was unawareabout the mystery plane. I was surprised to learn that this evidence has been available on the internet for quite some time. It seems that during the evacuation of the White House on 9/11 a woman captured an amazing photo of the mystery plane. Linda Brookhart, at the time Vice President of the Taxpayer Federation of Illinois, was in Washington on September 11 attending a National Taxpayers Conference in the Old Executive Office Building (located immediately next to the White House) when she and many others were told to vacate the building. Linda explained to me that after she walked outside she was standing in the street talking with a security guard when she just happened to look up and see the plane.[4] She then snapped this excellent photo with her Pentax. It refutes the pentagon and, fortunately, also enables us to identify the mystery planeas we will see.

Nor is this all. The same investigator also told me about another equally stunning piece of evidence. As it happened, a second individual also filmed the mystery plane on September 11 as it made a banking turn over Washington; and this short video segment even appeared in a made-for-TV docudrama about Flight 93. The two-hour movie was titled The Flight that Fought Back, and it aired on the Discovery Channel in August 2005. Once alerted to its existence, I had no difficulty locating this short segment on the internet. Someone had pulled it from the film and posted it at You-Tube as part of a short melange of video footage about 9/11. Anyone with access to cyberspace may view it on line.[5] The following still-shot was taken from this footage.
A DVD of the original Discovery Channel program is also available, and can be purchased at Amazon.com. The crucial segment appears 47 minutes into the film (in scene four). It is not a part of the dramatic production per se, but is a short segment of raw documentary footage embedded in the film. The crucial segment is very brief, only about three-seconds long, which may help to explain why this remarkable footage has not attracted more attention. Frankly, I was astonished when I learned about it, since I had seen no reference to this video evidence in the published literature about 9/11, nor on any of the many 9/11 web sites. I now realize I simply missed it. Pilots for 9/11 Truth has long featured an excellent forum discussion about this video.[6] Although the cameraman has not yet been identified, there is every reason to believe the footage is bona fide.
As I've noted, in the video the plane makes a banking turn. The angle is fortunate, because it brought the plane's unique features and markings into plain view. There can be no doubt as to the plane's identity. The aircraft belonged to the US Air Force. Moreover, this was no ordinary plane. It was an E-4B, the US military's most advanced electronics platform. Even a casual comparison shows that the still-shot from the docudrama matches an official photo (see below) of the E-4B, from a USAF web site.[7] There can be no mistake.

The plane is a modified Boeing 747-200. Notice the white color, the US flag painted on the vertical stabilizer (i.e, the tail), and the blue stripe and insignia on the fuselage. The clincher, however, is the "bump" directly behind the bulging 747 cockpit. It is clearly discernible in both photos. No other plane has this piggy-backed appendage. It is unique to the E-4B, and is integral to the plane's military role as an airborne command center. The appendage contains a communication satellite dish and perhaps other advanced electronic hardware. In fact, this is the same plane that Linda Brookhart photographed outside the White House. Although her vantage point was not idealLinda was standing in the street looking almost straight up when she snapped the shotnonetheless, a careful inspection shows that the plane in her photo is an E-4B. Notice, the aircraft has four engines and all of the characteristics of a Boeing 747. In addition to the white color, which is also a match, there is another crucial detail that positively identifies the airplane. Notice the tiny blue spot near the rear of the aircraft. Several close-ups of an E-4B clearly show that this blue spot is simply the place where the blue stripes painted on the fuselage come together at the rear of the aircraft.

This is the only place on the 747 fuselage where the E-4B's otherwise conspicuous blue stripes are visible, from beneath. No other airplane has this combination of features. Linda explained to me that at the time of the evacuation she believed the White House was the target of the attack. She snapped the picture before the towering plume of smoke became visible at the pentagon, which suggests that the E-4B was already circling at the time of the pentagon strike. Linda later contacted the FBI about her photograph. After she developed the film an agent came by her office to pick up a copy. But she never heard back. Nor did the 9/11 Commission ask her to testify. In fact, they never even contacted her.[8]
    No Ordinary Plane
Again, I must emphasize: this is no ordinary plane. The E-4B's official designation is the National Emergency Airborne Command Post (NEACP), pronounced "knee-cap." But the aircraft is more commonly known as the "doomsday plane," because its premier function is to serve as a flying command, control and communications (C3) center in the event of a national emergencyor nuclear war. When the president travels on Air Force One, an E-4B usually follows behind the presidential entourage. Unlike Air Force One, however, the E-4B can be refueled in midair and so has considerably greater range. For this reason, when the president goes abroad on long trips he occasionally flies on an E-4B to save travel time. The plane also doubles as a mobile office for the Secretary of Defense. Recently, for example, when the newly appointed Defense Secretary Robert Gates traveled to London for talks with Prime Minister Tony Blair, he rode on an E-4B. According to various reports, his predecessor, Donald Rumsfeld, often used the plane, and much preferred it.
A recent article in the Air Force Civil Engineer describes the E-4B as "a truly amazing" aircraft, and provides more details about its impressive specs.[9] The $250 million dollar aircraft has all of the advanced electronics needed for world-wide communication. If Air Force One can be accurately described as a flying White House, then, the E-4B is a substitute pentagon. The plane's electronics cover the full radio spectrum, from extremely low frequency (ELF) to high frequency (UHF). Which enables the E-4B to communicate with all US military commands, world-wide, including tactical and strategic forces, naval ships, planes, nuclear-armed missiles, even submarines. In short, the E-4B is a fully equipped communications platform and can serve as an airborne command center for all US military forces in a national crisis. The plane carries its own electrical-generating plant to power its electronic hardware, which is also shielded against the damaging electromagnetic pulse (EMP) effects generated by nuclear explosions. Even the plane's white color is a design featurenot simply cosmetic. Its purpose is to help the E-4B survive in a nuclear battlefield by reflecting heat away from the plane.
The E-4B carries a crew of 64, but can accommodate an additional 50 passengers, for a total of 114. The large 747 fuselage includes command and work areas, conference and briefing rooms, as well as an operations center or battle station. In addition the plane reportedly has a rest area, bunks for sleeping, even a galley stocked with a week of provisions. The Air Force has four E-4Bs, and they are normally assigned to Offutt AFB, near Omaha, Nebraska. Offutt is the home of STRATCOM, i.e., the Strategic Command (formerly the Strategic Air Command).
    Practicing Armageddon
According to one report, on September 11, 2001 three of the E-4Bs were participating in a live command-level exercise known as Global Guardian.[10] The exercise is an annual event, and is staged to test the readiness of the US military's command and control procedures involved in waging thermonuclear war. The 2001 exercise started the week before September 11 under the directorship of Admiral Richard Mies, commander-in-chief of STRATCOM. According to various reports, the drill was in "full swing" at the time of the 9/11 attack. Numerous other military commands were also involved, including NORAD. While few details have been released, we know that in previous years the US Space Command, the Air Combat Command, and the US Atlantic and Pacific Fleets were also involved.[11]
Starting in the 1990s, Global Guardian included pre-planned mock attacks upon the military's computer and information systems. For example, during the 1998 exercise "terrorists" attempted to disrupt STRATCOM's internal communications by hacking into its computers, and also by tying up its phone/FAX lines with phony messages.[12] Evidently, these "terrorist attacks" were at least partly successful, although the details have not been released. In recent years, the military has incorporated similar "attacks" into Global Guardian exercises. However, it is not known if these were a part of the 2001 drill. We do know that at the time of the 9/11 attack one of the E-4Bs was en route to Offutt AFB with a high-level military advisory panel on board, including its chairman, retired Lt. General Brent Scowcroft, evidently for the purpose of observing the exercise. The role of this panel, known as the Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board (FIAB), is to monitor US intelligence agencies. As we know, STRATCOM abruptly terminated the 2001 exercise at 9:03 AM, when Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower.[13] However, the E-4Bs remained aloft.[14]
In previous years the military always staged Global Guardian in October or November; and the 2001 exercise was likewise originally scheduled for October, according to various reports.[15] Curiously, however, for reasons never disclosed, the Joint Chiefs changed the plan and conducted the 2001 exercise during the week of September 11. The following year the date reverted back. The 2002 Global Guardian came off in October, as in previous years, and this has continued to be the case.[16]
All of which raises disturbing questions. Why did the Joint Chiefs change the date of Global Guardian in 2001? Even more importantly, why was the world's most sophisticated electronics warfare plane circling over Washington at the time of the September 11 attack? Recently, when the investigator who contacted me filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) concerning the presence of the E-4B over Washington on 9/11, the FAA responded that it "had no knowledge" of such a plane. My contact also shared the basic information presented in this article with his Congressman, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), and requested that he look into the matter. Schiff then made a formal inquiry through official channels, but was told that the Air Force knows nothing. Obviously, the pentagon is lying. If the E-4B was on a legitimate mission on September 11, why does the military deny its presence? Why would they do this? When people lie it is generally because they have something to hide. Is the US military any different?
Catch-22: The Need for a New Investigation
Although Linda Brookhart's photo provides sufficient detail to positively ID the mystery plane, the short segment from the Discovery Channel docudrama is extremely important corroborating evidence. For which reason, myself and others have been working diligently to learn more about it. The E-4B footage occurs in the Discovery film in the context of the evacuation of the White House and Capitol building on 9/11. This definitely places it in Washington on the day of the attack. However, we still don't know who filmed it. Nor does the footage include any visual evidence linking it to Washington. According to the credits for The Flight that Fought Back, a London-based company named Brook Lapping produced the docudrama for the Discovery Channel. When I contacted Brook Lapping I was told they used the E-4B footage under license from FOX News, which holds the copyright. Brook Lapping also informed me they could provide no further assistance in the matter. After numerous phone calls I was led to a company called ITN Source, which handles all of FOX's licensing contracts. A cordial individual at their Burbank office assisted me. However, a search failed to locate the short segment in the FOX News archive, at which point I was informed that there was nothing more they could do. My repeated attempts to contact the FOX legal department were also fruitless. FOX never responded to my queries. Thus, my investigation reached a blind alley. Evidently the same thing has happened to others. According to Linda Brookhart, "Every time someone has tried to research this plane it becomes a dead end."[17] Shades of Catch-22
All of this underscores the urgent need for a new 9/11 investigation: It must be nonpartisan, independent, adequately funded, and empowered with the authority to subpoena witnesses. Representatives of FOX News must be brought before a genuine panel and made to testify under oath about the whereabouts of this important evidence; and why it was made to go bye-bye. Without a true investigation, we will probably never learn the truth about September 11.
Stay tuned. This is the first in a series. More to come...
