Wow... I honestly wasn't sure
if I would ever live to see this day... The day has come to share
Omotion with the world. This record has been my life's work to this
point, I have literally given it every last piece of me... If it all
were to end right now, this accomplishment would have made everything
worth it, and would leave me with a smile on my face. I can't begin to
describe what I have been through during the making of Omotion, I don't
even know if I could describe it to myself at this point, all I know is
that good or bad, right or wrong, it is in this record, sealed. Music
is the only thing I've known in my life, the only true companion that's
made any sense to me, my church and gospel... to be honest it's
terrifying releasing such a stock of personal emotion to the world...
but this was the plan... and now it's come to fruition, the day that's
awaited me for over three years now... this is the end of a long road,
and the start of an even longer one.
I want to thank everyone involved in the record, my friends, my family, and my crew.
Here she is yaw'll...

(PLEASE Forward to all your friends and famly) Ok everyone, this is the official post of our "Hometown For The Holidays" nomination. We are going to need everyone to forward this to as many people as possible. This post includes a bit of what was said last night, but also includes every last bit of detail about the competition. We are doing everything we can to win, but are definitely not forgetting about what we've already been given, which is major radio play!!! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't forget to call and request "Miss Hedonist" at 93.3 KTCL on dates Dec 11 to 17 by calling 303-631-2933. I love all you guys and cannot express my thanks enough... Basic Details::WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1. We need as many people as possible to register to vote at http://ratethemusic.com/signup.cgi/ktcl before the deadline Dec. 10th at noon! You basically follow the link, fill out a short survey to better the station. 2. Wait for the Hometown for the Holidays e-mail, to vote, which will arrive THIS WED. or THUR. 12/10 or 12/11 and vote for Improv's "Miss Hedonist." 3. Call 93.3 KTCL and request "Miss Hedonist" every day from THUR. 12/11 - WED. 12/17! You can call 93.3 KTCL at 303-631-2933. Very important note!: KTCL WILL NOT SPAM YOU! You just need to give them your e-mail to ensure the contest is not rigged, and also to help them play your type of music on their station... pretty genius if you ask me. Extensive Details:
Ladies and Gentlemen! First off, I want to thank every single person who has been there for me throughout the years ... my FANS, my FAMILY, my FRIENDS, and my CREW. Without your loving support, I hesitate to think where I might be. Now I have to ask for your support in a contest that has helped other musicians in Colorado. The Flobots won this same contest last year, and it set off their careers. Saturday, I was informed that "Miss Hedonist", from my upcoming release, "Omotion", was selected as one of the Top 10 in 93.3 KTCL's "Hometown for the Holidays 2008". I could not possibly feel more blessed and honored to be in this line-up. My life has not been much of a cakewalk for the last two years, jumping off the boat and trying to feed myself off of my art. It has tested every bit of faith in me and challenged every note played and word spit. Needless to say, it's moments like this when I breathe easy and I'm filled with the most incredible feeling of accomplishment and hope.
And now the details (also below a message from Nerf of Channel 93.3 about Hometown For the Holidays):
KTCL will be playing "Miss Hedonist" 3-4 times a day starting this Thursday December 11th through the 17th!!! From the 11th through the 17th you will vote via music surveys that 93.3 will e-mail you. Then on Wednesday, the 17th, Channel 93.3 will announce the top 3 musicians, at 5 pm. Those three bands will play the Hometown for the Holidays show at Andrews on Lincoln that Friday (the 19th). AND the 1 band (selected from the music surveys) will be announced that night!! The winner will have the option of playing a Mammoth Game, or playing at Not So Silent Night 09, and get recording time at the Blasting Room. They'll also award one of the 3 bands (regardless of the survey results) $1,000 for the best Live performance. One of the jocks will get the crowd to cheer for their favorite, and the most noise (as judged by that jock) will get the prize money.
I know many of you haven't heard "Miss Hedonist"yet. But you can listen to this song on my myspace: www.myspace.com/improvmusic. It was going to be released later, as the second single off of "Omotion". But due to the situation, I've decided to release it early. I am trying to capitalize on all angles of this huge opportunity; so now that you know what song you are listening for, after you hear it on 93.3, we would like you to call the station (303-631-2933) and show your support, let them know what you really think, and request "Improv/Miss Hedonist". With the surveys and requests, this will boost my status with 93.3 and help get more air plays, no matter the turnout of this event.
How to VOTE: Sign up for the music surveys at www.area93.com under "Members", or click this direct link: http://ratethemusic.com/signup.cgi/ktcl. You and the people that already have filled out the form to receive music surveys will be the ones that rank me 10-1. The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, December 10th, at noon. Shortly after the deadline, you will receive a survey in which you will listen to each of the contenders and rate them (Improv / Miss Hedonist your top pick ?). However, they do expect you to fill out music surveys with national and local bands regularly, through the year. Other than music surveys, they will not spam you!!!
THANK YOU!
Improv Message from Nerf of Channel 93.3: So the band that sent you this email needs your help and so do we. If you're supporting a local band that most folks haven't heard of, sometimes to the point of letting them crash on your couch, you're most likely the sort of music-obsessed person we're looking for We want to know what you think. We'd like you to sign up to take our music surveys. Twice a year they include ALL local music (once to see who plays Big Gig, and the other for Hometown For The Holidays). The rest of the time it's mostly national acts (Linkin Park, Rise Against, Incubus etc.) with some local artists thrown in to see if you think they're ready for the big-time. These surveys have gotten a lot of bands signed including The Fray, The Flobots, Tickle Me Pink, Meese, Single File and more!
Here's what you do. Click this:http://ratethemusic.com/signup.cgi/ktcl, sign up, and when we send a survey to your mailbox fill out the survey. Tell us what you like, what you hate, and what you're sick of. The more honestly you answer the better we sound to you.
Listen to the top 10 local bands that make the survey on the air between December 11th and 17th on Channel 93.3, and no matter who the top 3 artists are plan to come see them live at Andrews on Lincoln December 19th where we'll announce who wins, and award a Live-Prize of $1,000 to the best performance of the night (determined by crowd noise)!
Remember the winner gets recording time at the Blasting Room, gets to play at a Mammoth Game, and gets to play Not So Silent Night next year, not to mention the bragging rights!
Thanks for supporting local music and good taste!

Ladies and Gentlemen… Tonight was a very special night, I was informed at 8:30 pm that my song Miss Hedonist off of my upcoming release Omotion was selected as one of the Top 10 in 93.3 KTCL's Hometown for the Holidays '08 and… wow… that is all I can really say. I could not possibly feel more blessed and honored to be in that line-up.. it is without a doubt the most exciting thing that has happened to me in my career as a music artist. My life has not been very much of a cakewalk for the last two years jumping off of the boat and trying to feed myself off of my art, it has tested every bit of faith in me and challenged every note played and word spit… needless to say, it's moments like this when I breathe easy and am filled with the most incredible feeling of accomplishment and hope.. for that I cannot begin to express my thanks for this opportunity, first to KTCL for the genuine local love throughout the years, to Elijah Pratt who made the song by amazingly dominating that hook, and also to Skimp Killah who produced the beat which was the initial spark of inspiration, and last but not least to every single person who has been there for me throughout the years.. my FAMILY, my FRIENDS, my CREW. Without your loving support I hesitate to think where I might be… Having said that..
KTCL will be playing Miss Hedonist 3-4 times a day starting this Thursday December 11th to the 17th!!!
BOOOOOYYYYAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!

This is the first random blog I've posted in a really long time, but I just had something to say, so here goes...
Since I can remember I've been around bboys and bgirls, and cannot think of time when it did not inspire me. There is a certain hip-hop cultural thickness you cannot find anywhere, but a bboy jam, for those who have been and felt this, you know what i mean... I'm going to be performing at 3 upcoming bboy battles in Fort Collins and Denver involving both city's Hip-Hop Congresses and bboys and girls from every corner of this square state and beyond. To say the least, I am honored. Emcees always say bboy battle's are very rough to perform at, which is true, but besides the point, if you are truly reppin' Hip-Hop as soon as you breathe in that funk, you know there is hardly a more real, culturally in-tune place to rock. I used to bboy myself and still mos def consider myself a bboy to this day, to me it doesn't necessarily mean whether you can break or not, but more that you rep this culture and understand what that means. So, to all my bboys and bgirls, I truly represent YOU when i rock, and will not waver from that standpoint for anything or anyone, it's who I am, and I am honored.
ONE! Prov.

As a lot of you know, I've taken on the production end of a project called Littleague, originated by Kneeel of Yo Flaco!, a program designed to teach kids (ages 4-15) a positive message through hip-hop music. Throughout the past six months the project has really taken off, with full graphic depictions of all the characters courtesy of the incredible local artist BEAST, the Why Try foundation offering marketing and distribution of our second record, and the entire Warren Village grade school knowing every word of every song, Littleague is quickly turning into a beautiful thing. You can download the first LL demo below for free, mos def roll by the myspace and peep the fresh characters and last but not least peep the hilarious "Homemade Haircut" video! Keep in mind it's for kids, I love it. ONE! Prov. littleague_demo.zipThe Littleague MyspaceBeast myspace

New record from Improv officially announced and titled "Omotion". This album will draw blood as his first "official" full-length release... plans are to be epic. Keeping the pool of colors ripe and unheard, excluding live shows, you can expect to hear some the first tracks dropping around Christmas here on myspace. Release is set to mid 2008, may be earlier, may be later, however long it takes Improv to squeeze every last drop of raw grit, funk, and soul from his form...

- 4/08/07 Improv - Littleague - Click Here to downloadRemember the kids yaw'll... One Beats's Improv has dove into a truly special project. Kneeel (formally of Yo Flaco) presented the very creative idea behind "Littleague" to Improv about 3 months ago and he decided to jump on board. The project is a hip-hop-based learning tool aimed at kids between the ages of 4 and 10. With tracks like "Homemade Haircut" and "The Overachievers" it give kids a humorous, positive, clean, cool way to experience and learn about music, hip-hop, and life. Improv's roll thus far has been the production of the beats, recording engineer and occasional scratching on the tracks. The project is still in early development, however a 5-track demo is available to give listeners a taste, you can download it for free by clicking below. littleague_demo.zip
