Hi friends,

first of all thanks so much for your support. We are really happy that sooo many of you really like our underground space and italo disco classics mixes, please spread the word, the world needs to know what the origins of HOUSE music sound like!

We received some questions about where we are from, what we did in the last years, if we're new to the music business, if we spin live anywhere etc.

So here are some answers:

We are from Saarbrücken in the Saarland, a beautiful federal state of Germany directly at the French border. In the last 150 years, the Saar changed nationality several times switching between being German and French. For 12 years after WW2, we even were an independent state called "Saar". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saarland, with our own national football team, we even beat Norway in the 1954 World Cup qualifier! ;) Read more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saarland.

We are record collectors since the early 80s, especially me, Marco - I have more than 2500 vinyl records at home. My first record was a compilation with Bonnie Tyler - Lost in France and Supermax - Love machine, my first album Depeche Mode - Speak and Spell, the first Italo Disco record I fell in love with was Mr.Flagio - Take a chance. In the 80s, Stefano and I went to school together, in the same class, and always spent our money, not on girls, but on Italo Disco records. Nerd alarm! ;)
We were lucky, we had a great "Rimini-style" italo discotheque in town called "Chic" so that the local record store always had the latest imports from Italy - and we bought them. We created many Tape Compilations back then;). Occasionally, we were DJs at school parties and in smaller clubs, but the Italo hype was only really strong in 1984,85. But our italo love lasts forever.

When we finished school, we lost contact...for almost 20 years. Last year we met again. We found out we are still loving Italo Disco and started The Robot Scientists in order to present the beauty of underground italo and space disco to the world - and with the plan to be able to hear all these tracks really loud when spinning live.

In the last 20 years before The Robot Scientists, Stefano bought a few records. Marco decided in 1994 to boycot CDs because of the crappy covers, thinking "analogue is better", and bought even more records! He occasionally worked as DJ in the places where he studied and lived. In 1995, living in Spain, he wrote some articles and reviews for the fanzine "Subraum" that was started by his brother Oliver (the 3rd Robot Scientist from Berlin) and some friends, many of which later on became successful music journalists in Germany, writing for the largest indie / pop culture magazines SPEX, VISIONS and INTRO. From 2002-2007, Marco hosted (under the pseudo "äquatorboy") the radio show "Musique Elliptique" on bermudafunk in Mannheim/Germany. With his friend Eric aka Pierre Légère, they presented "underground" house, electro, indie pop, ragga, dub and hip hop "hits" while entertaining the audience with funny comments. So as The Robot Scientists, so far, we have created 13 mixes for our friends and several edits of unknown italo disco tracks, more to come...we did not do our own tracks (yet - but we might do this one day), we did not release an official CD/Vinyl-Mix-Compilation (yet - but we might do this one day), we do not have our own label (yet - but we are thinking about this to feature great contemporary space disco artists, release some edits and officially re-release obscure classics), we don't have a club where we spin regularily (but we are working on that - preferably in our hometown and in Berlin and Paris because we can get there quickly by plane and train)...so in case you like what we do and see chances for joining forces, let us know.
