COMA is currently looking for individuals interested in working in the music journalism field. We are looking to fill the following positions. These are all non paying positions and we realize that not everyone is willing to work for free but most positions do have their perks (free concerts or CDs, meeting bands without having to wait with the rest of the crowd). Since these are volunteer positions, we don’t expect a big commitment, if you just want to cover one specific show or review one specific CD, let me know ad we’ll work it out.

Anyway, if you are interested in any of these positions shoot us an email @ contact@coma-online.com

Online Promotions:
Post MySpace bulletins, talk about COMA on music sites and forums.
When promoting new content you will be provided copy to use.

Interviewer:
Interviews will be set up for you along with access to the show (if applicable).
Must provide a digital video camera to record the interview.
You will be given an interview to write prior to being given an interview to conduct yourself to assess your question writing abilities. There will be a deadline for this and you will be expected to meet it.

Concert Photographer:
Access to the show will be provided.
Must be able to shoot live shows with no flash.
Semi-pro to Professional camera equipment preferred.
Send a sample of previous work when you email us.
Many labels prefer to have a review to go along with the photos so see if you can hook up with someone who can review the show (it is difficult to pay enough attention to the show to review it while concentrating on shooting).

Concert Videographer:
Access to the show will be provided.
If you have shot shows before send a link to your previous work when you email us.

CD, Concert or DVD Reviewer:
CDs and music DVDs to review will be provided.
If you are reviewing a concert access to the show will be provided.
If you have written reviews before send a sample to assess.
If you have not, write a review of a recent CD or DVD (depending on what you are applying for) that fits with our content and send it our way.

News Reporter:
You will have access to the press releases we receive.
You will also need to gather news on your own via MySpace, band websites & forums as well as other sources.
Gathering news from other music news sites such as blabbermouth and Metal Injection will not be permitted.

Ashley will be working with us on occasion, especially after my wife and I move to Phoenix, so I hope you enjoy her work and if not, just wait, she'll be getting a new lens soon and her photos will only improve.

An interesting piece of news I thought I would pass on.

Iconic thrash band MEGADETH has just been confirmed to headline the first annual EPIPHONE Revolver Golden Gods Awards, presented by the Honda Fury April 7 at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles.  America’s first-ever hard rock and heavy metal music award show will be broadcast on MTV2 as a one-hour special debuting Saturday, May 2.  The ultimate evening of heavy music will also feature performances from Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, All That Remains and Suicide Silence, along with a very special DJ set from Slipknot’s Corey Taylor to kick off the event.  The night will culminate with rock legend Ozzy Osbourne being honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

After over 20 million albums sold worldwide, metal legends Megadeth remain at the top of their game. The band are the reigning kings of thrash, with a classic catalog that stretches from Rust In Peace and Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying? to their latest critically-acclaimed creation United Abominations.  Megadeth has headlined stadiums around the globe for 25 years and influenced a generation with their classic sounds, incendiary and thought-provoking lyrics and screaming guitars.  The band is currently in the studio working on the follow-up to 2007's United Abominations which will see its release in late '09.

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine commends Revolver on the awards, noting: "Finally a heavy metal award, of the people, by the people, and for the people!  This evening's line-up of talent is a heavy metal fan's wet dream! Only Revolver would have the credibility to make our dreams come true with the First Annual Golden Gods Awards.  To see Ozzy get a lifetime achievement is long overdue.  It is an honor to say, ‘YES! Megadeth will headline!’…I doubt Jethro Tull will be getting an award."

Hosted by actor/comic Brian Posehn (“The Sarah Silverman Program”), the night--a celebration of one of rock’s most enduring and fan-supported genres--will also feature special appearances by Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister, Glenn Danzig, Maynard James Keenan of Tool and Puscifer, Jonathan Davis of Korn, Alice In Chains, Vinnie Paul, Scott Ian, Olympic gold-medalist Shaun White, Chuck Billy of Testament, Protest The Hero, Marta Peterson from Bleeding Through, Isis, Ken Susi and Trevor Phipps of Unearth, Brendon Small from Dethklok, Steel Panther, WWE wrestler CM Punk, Sirius XM radio host Jose Mangin, Chaos radio host “Full Metal Jackie” and many more.

Rock fans have the opportunity to experience this incredible night of rock and roll for a low ticket price. A limited number of tickets are now on sale to the public via
Ticketmaster.com , select Macy’s, all Ritmo Latino stores and 800.745.3000.  Tickets for Club Nokia events are also available from 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday at the STAPLES Center Box Office.  General admission tickets are $35.00 and VIP tickets are $75.00.  Look for additional information about the EPIPHONE REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS to be announced soon and go to www.GoldenGodsAwards.com for updates.

A statement from Kevin Lyman (Warped Tour, Rockstar Taste of Chaos, Mayhem, etc)
The state of concert ticket sales:

"As many of you are aware, the media has been reporting the problems concert-goers are encountering buying tickets for Bruce Springsteen and other superstar acts, however I thought fans of our projects should know that until these large companies get their act together, the place to buy tickets will be through the official websites of the tours.

Right now we have the Rockstar Energy Drink Taste of Chaos Tour starting February 14th at the Hollywood Palladium and there are tickets available for all shows at this time at www.tasteofchaos.com. Click on the link by your city and you will be able to purchase tickets.

In the world of concert ticketing there have never been more players and people trying to provide this service, and hopefully one day they will get it right.”

With 16 full-lengths and 25 years of historic, groundbreaking musical mayhem behind them, the legendary industrial pioneers KMFDM are ready to unleash the next album BLITZ on March 24, 2009 on Metropolis Records.

Fronted by the volatile and fiercely intelligent Sascha Konietzko, KMFDM has led the industrial evolution over the last two and a half decades with their self-coined "Ultra Heavy Beat" that continues to expand and evolve, ushering new beats and structures that push their music up into new plateaus. "I like to experiment," says Sascha about the new album. "Going in one direction and then trying something different is part of the way. If I don't change things constantly,  become irritated."

Appropriately abrasive and incredibly rhythm-heavy, BLITZ sees the Hamburg, Germany-based band redirecting the metallic guitars of previous releases and allowing the fiery dance rhythms to breathe and pulsate. From the opening beat of "(Symbol)" with Sascha's trademark growl coming into the forefront with chants of "up Uranus", the album kicks off an unrelenting barrage of heavily orchestrated chaos. "Bait & Switch" ups the ante with a blast of fierce, driving industrial led by the the dominating vocals of Lucia Cifarelli. Their excellent retelling of Human League's "Being Boiled" brings a level of sinister ambience with pounding beats and flourishing horns. "I am standing behind every song, 105%," Sascha explains, "though I am particularly pleased with the fact that native Russian speakers can understand what I am saying on track #3, 'Davai'."

BLITZ was produced by Sascha Konietzko with assistance from current guitarist Jules Hodgson and longtime collaborator and former band member Tim Skold. Although the album title may be returning to the trademark five-letter album titles of yore ("There was no thought wasted on the name of this album. However once decided upon, it seemed a fitting return to convention, especially after having had a string of non-five-letter titles for the past several years"), the album is by no means conventional. With a diverse 25 years behind them, Sascha sees no end to KMFDM's continuing legacy. "There's no looking back," he says firmly. "The future lies ahead."
