Hello All,
Just got back from the road and our 3 week LOUD/QUIET touring experiment. Thank you to the good people of LA, NYC, BROOKLYN, and TORONTO! Indoor Block Parties and Pillow fights were awesome!!! and Music to Draw to nights rocked in that anti-social but focused way! Much fun was had by the family and hopefully the attendees of the gigs and events. We are organizing our photos and tour mementos and will post them soon...
In the meantime it's back to the old drawing board (literally). Trying to finish up etching the last couple of chapters to Space Cadet. And recording stuff in the after hours.... It's nice to be home for a spell.
Thank you for tuning in...

Just confirmed! We are VERY happy to announce that our friend Lederhosen Lucil will be joining the bill at our LOUD Indoor Block Party at Lee's Palace this Thursday (May 7). If you witnessed her set on our Short Attention Span Audio Theater tour you already know how rad she is. If you missed that tour, you'd better get to Lee's early! Remember... she averaged 2 marriage proposals after every set in just about every city we played around the world, and 3 marriage proposals in Glasgow! She's charming, hilarious and lightning quick.
see you there.

Hello All, We've just added some wonderfully musical and highly entertaining friends to the bill at our LOUD half of our LOUD PARTY/QUIET WORK weekend. Indoor Block Party at Le Poisson Rouge in NY. (Sunday, May 3, 2009) Now... ALSO PERFORMING!!! * TERENCE BERNARDO singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist and frontman of TAXI TAXI and an old friend from Montreal. Terence and I are currently in the studio recording an album of very depressing slow songs. A project which some of our friends have described as: The Asian Portishead... whatever that means. Although none of those tunes will be ready for this gig, Terence will be performing some songs from his seemingly endless supply of beautiful and melancholy pop tunes. * DJ P-LOVE You know this guy already, He was the kid who tore it up on the Short Attention Span Theater tours as well as accompanying me on Wurlitzer and turntable on the "Nufonia Must Fall" book launch. Pretty much my go-to dj if you're looking for a cat with musical cuts. Has toured and performed with Amon Tobin, Sixtoo, and Medeski, Martin and Wood. P-Love will be the "back up band" for Terence during his set... as well as heating it up on his own on the 1's and 2's. * ADIRA AMRAM She sings, she jazzercises, she eats beef jerky in slow motion! Come witness her pop comedy spectacle featuring back up dancers and plentiful spandex! I met Adira a few years ago in NY and was lucky enough to catch one of her sets at a club while I was there. Absolutely amazing and hilarious. She is fully taking smile-making to a whole other level. try and get their earlier. You don't want to miss these folks! And of course, as advertised, there will be a raffle, a pillow fight, a sound capture session (which ROCKED! in LA last night by the way), and little ol' me on a bunch of turntables playing records in that "Canadian" way. Come on down and make some noise. see you there! e P.S. if a louder Indoor Block Party doesn't float your boat, we will also be holding our first NY installment of the quiet time "Music to Draw to..." event at the House of Yes the following evening. There will be a bake sale by Corinne and my mother-in-law. Bring a sketchbook/knitting needles or something to work on... free hot chocolate and a pencil with admission. check the tour section for more details. who doesn't like cookies while they draw?

Music to Draw to... part III. It was a lovely evening... thank you to everyone who came down to join us at Theatre Ste. Catherine for the third and final "Music to Draw to..." soiree in Montreal. We've been asked by many if we will continue doing this event. We had so much fun with it I think it may become a sort of winter time tradition for us. We have also been approached about bringing this event to other cities. We are very excited about that idea... just trying to work out where we'll get all the drawing desks and toaster ovens... we will keep you posted.
That being said... summer is rapidly approaching and it's time to put the quiet time records away... and to exchange them for the "party" box of vinyl. I will be doing some gigs in the U.S. at the end of March and April... we have confirmed shows in New York, Chicago, Denver, San Francisco, Orlando, Chapel Hill, and San Diego... please click on the "tour" section in the menu for more details about dates and venues...
Loud... the Slew album is now finished and in the artwork stage.... Looking at a late summer release.
Quiet... the Space Cadet book and Soundtrack is slowly coming together... one page at a time. Today is Page 80.
Also, I've just signed on to produce an album for a very talented songwriter named Terence Bernardo. Two months ago he played me some demos of 14 amazingly depressing songs he'd written. We will be in the studio this week starting to track them.
That's about it for now... thank you for checking in...

An evening of quiet time records to warm up those creative juices in this sub-zero weather. It’s winter time in Montreal… Are you slacking off on knitting that scarf you started in 2004? Maybe you’ve been trying to finish that third act of that play you’ve been writing…? How’s that collection of Sonnets coming along? Are you still sketching out storyboards for that animated short you wanted to make? Bring your sketchbook, yarn, or that lump of clay. Floor lamps, pens, knitting needles, and lap desks will be provided. Five bucks admission includes a free cup of hot chocolate or tea. Music will be provided by Kid Koala. Expect a full 5-hour set of some of his favorite quiet time records that he has collected on his travels around the world. Baked goods will be provided by Kid Koala’s wife, Corinne, who dreams of someday opening a bakery in Montreal and would like to try some of her new creations first. Quiet people are invited. Bring something to work on. No dancing. Hope to see you there! 3 NIGHTS ONLY : 7pm until midnight : March 2, 2009 March 9, 2009 March 16, 2009 Theatre St. Catherine: 264 St. Catherine E., Montreal, QC VIEW FOR MORE DETAILS
