Things here in "The Land of Lollygaggers" are goin'.

I thought I'd update ya'll FIRST...on Mike's Karaoke Nights.

Wednesday's, Mike is at Rick Fairless' Stroker's Ice House.  This gig is from 7-11 and is the one that I'll be going to from now on, so's if'n 'ya want to see me, this is where I'll be gettin' my karaoke groove on.  "The Ice House" is an awesome "biker" joint on Harry Hines that I can remember seein' the funky fun icons on top ever since I was a whippersnapper.  Classic Rock and County, a fantastic menu and pricy but then again, I don't buy my own drinks, drink specials are a bucket of beer for $13 and that's it, as far as I can tell.  But, I'm goin' for the earier time and the atmosphere of the open complex...it's neat.

Thursdays, Mike is at Lonestar from 9-12.  Lonestar is the typical "Neighborhood Bar" and is Located in Richardson, Tx.  It's fun.  It's busy, and the karaoke crowd is one to be reckoned with.  I will be visiting my parents and family on Thursdays until further notice.  I will show up to drop off and pick up Mike.  So, I'll be there at 8:45ish and at 11:45ish, so...I'll still get to visit for half-an-hour with all those Lonestar Chums which are some of the best.  Fairly decent bar menu and ROCKIN' drink specials...anything goes with Karaoke...it's really a fun fun night out.

Friday's Mike is at, "Prince Bistro" in Flower Mound from 7-11.  Prince Bistro is family friendly 'til 9 and then the bar spills onto the spacious patio and can get a little rowdy.  I will be attending this show as well, since it is only five minutes from our pad.  All kinds of music are likely to be heard and even kids get up and give it a go.  The atmosphere of this place is akin' to a restaurant at a resort.  I personally love it, so give it a whirl.   It's kinda' busy 'til the kids clear about (ends up being around 10) and then it's a bit more tired and laid back, with drinks a flowin'.

Saturday's Mike is at, Venice Italian Restaurant in Irving/Los Colinas.  This Karaoke Night is from 8-11 and is the perfect "romantic" date night kinda' Karaoke.  I recommend bringin' your honey and showin' 'em with songs from the heart what you have in mind.  Wink Wink.

So, there you have it.  Other than that, we still on the water.  Can't complain.  Lot's of pans on the fire and all that.  Leave a message and let me know what you're up to.

As most of my real friends know...my husband...who is also my best friend (I've been the spunky sidekick to this guy for over NINETEEN years) is a karaoke host in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area.  We go to a lot of bars and a fair amount of men care not that I am spoken for.  Therefore, they say things to me that are best left for the locker-room.  Most of the time, it doesn't bother me...sometimes, it does.

My story begins last week when I was at our regular Thursday Night Karaoke Gig and this dude who I have never set peepers on before was kinda' rude to me.

To set the stage...

Last Thursday, it just so happened that I was expecting quite the crowd to show up. So, I was super early and sure to secure one of the best tables in the establishment...You know the table, right by where the singers perform; as I was under the impression about 30 people were going to show up (which they did.)

Shortly after Mike (my man) started the "show" some regulars (not really my buddies, although one of them...Jason, is kinda' my kinda' guy) just UP and sat at MY table..........although, slightly taken aback at the brazen commandeering of my table, I didn't blame them...heck, none of my huge party were there yet.  (My people are the late crowd.)

I told them I didn't mind them sitting there (they are the type that are gone within the hour) as long as ONE member of their party (the guy I had never seen before) was willing to give up his space on the bar stool that I had pulled over.

The stool that was RIGHT next to me, I asked him if he would move.  (I don't like many people.  I'll ask you to sit by me if I want your company.)  So, I asked him to get off that particular bar-stool and that I didn't care if the rest of the group got their karaoke groove on and that they were welcome to stay at my table; since I figured they would be gone by the time MY large party showed up.

Anywhoooo,

The stranger told me he would give up his seat if I would, "Suck his dick." (Jokingly, but still.)

To which I replied, "How 'bout I just kick your ass."  (I'm a scrappy bitch...who has no qualms about crackin' a beer bottle and stabbing and and stabbing until the offending party is still.)

ANYWAY....I realized as soon as I uttered it that I MIGHT HAVE pissed off their party ('cause most of them are 'kinda preppy and not like me and mine AT ALL) So, I apologized profusely.

This week.

Mike, thinking he was "Standing by his Woman" in the classic sense of the sentiment, let the guy, whom he thought had offended my honor...that if, "he said anything crass to his wife again he would fuck him up."

(Which is really, kinda' sweet.  Like I need him standin' up for little 'ole me...I can totally take care of myself, but secretly, I thought it chivalrous and sexy, nonetheless.)

One problem...........my man had the wrong guy.

See, when I told Mike about it...I gave him the wrong name.  So, it's TOTALLY my fault.  I meet a LOT of people karaoke-ing and to be honest...I remember VERY FEW of your names.

"I am Yulaw! ..... I don't need to know you. *You* only need to know *me*."

I thought the guy (who I have on good "Chick Bathroom" authority isn't really that great of a friend of theirs) was out of line.  He didn't know me and had no right to joke with me in that fashion.  It bothered me soooo much that I told my husband.  Only when Mike asked me who it was that uttered such a bawdy retort, I didn't really know his name.  So, Mike guessed.  Only, he guessed WRONG.  (WRONG WRONG WRONGWRONGWRONGWRONG....sing it like Dr. Cox.)

Anyway...drama unfolded.  Words were twisted. Threats that weren't quite what was intended were inferred.  It was a big 'ole mess.

In the end, Mike was UBER embarrassed that he had promised damnation to the wrong bloke...Who was SOOOOO pissed, and rightly so (as he had never been anything but a perfect gentleman to me) sorta' accepted Mike's apology.

But, it breaks my heart that the guy Mike accidentally thought had been out of line to me, may or may not have understood just how sorry and embarrassed we both are about what had transpired.

So, to make a long story short...I know, I know...too late.

We both apologize to Kenny and his buddies.  Mike did NOT mean to offend you...and if you can't understand standing up for your woman...well, that's just not our fault.

AND

You best watch what you say to the karaoke guy's old lady.

Yeah, yeah...I know...It's been a while.  Count yourselves lucky....I wouldn't be blogging at all if'n my better half could hold his liquor...so this here drunkin' bloggin' is brought to you courtsey of well whiskey. (So, please see fit to excuse my spelling and lack of proper word usage.)

Let's see.....we're workin' on stuff.........nothing of note AND plan to be out of the red...welp......just any day now.

On a personal note.....We're in the middle of a Star Wars Marathon...followed by our annual Spring Buffy-a-thon----Which includes all of Angel.  By the way....are any of ya'll watchin' Dollhouse?  I am enjoyin' the Friday Night heck out of Dollhouse....NO it is not as well acted as the Christian Slater hour long dramedy of the same ilk that came before it...But, it's quality programmin' nonetheless.

Dollhouse is about the only thing I am watchin' on the telly these days...although "Reaper" still pulls a giggle when I catch it.

That's about it as far as television goes.  We're off to see Watchman, as soon as Spring Break is over, when there are fewer teeny boppers and other than that...we're simply just makin' it.

I wish a happy happy happy Saint Patick's to all that may stumble across this and have endured this much of this subpar prose...I love my hubby, rockin' family, and stalwart buddies.

Some day my friends, some day.

I read, knit, doodle, watch massive amounts of the telly, continuously try to work on random stuffs, cook awesome dinners and hang out with Mike.  Those are just a few of the lollygaggin' opportunities that are tops on my list.

It's no secret that several times a week, I like to go to karaoke.  It works out well for me, since Mike is currently the best darn karaoke D.J. in DFW.  So, as many of my fellow lollygaggers know, I generally go to his shows on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Well, this week...one of the places Mike used to have a regular gig with on Saturdays, told him that he could still do the gig as long as I didn't go with him.  Yep!  Lynn----Denied.  The thing that irks me about it as that NO one at the restaurant said, "boo" about it to me.  How can I just be banned from a public place?  A place that I happen to know for a fact...the karaoke regulars think I'm keen; but, the restaurant thinks I am too boisterous to enter???  Ahh well.

Mike said he didn't want to set foot in a place where his wife and best friend wasn't welcome.  Which is sweetly chivalrous and one of the reasons I love 'em.  Happy Valentine's Day, everybody.

As it is when one co-habitates...I'm sick.  Sicksicksicksicksick.  I haven't felt this lousy since I was a kid and found out I was allergic to saw-dust. (Ask me about THAT story sometime.)

Anyway....I'm under the weather.  I would murderdeathkill for a tissue with lotion embedded in it.

Next week...I plan on really kickin' my heels up...so's all you's better be ready to entertain me.

Mike's just put his key in the slot...(No, you dirty suckers...) he's home from his Karaoke Gig...so, he's gonna' entertain me for a bit.  Later.

(Oh....he brought me Puffs + Lotion......whatta' guy!)

Well.....literally, we were RIGHT in front of our apartments when blue lights started a-flashin'........so, good news...the cop didn't write us a ticket for sorta' turning on a red light...bad news...they totally arrested Mike for having outstanding tickets...which we knew about...but, he refused to pay...as he was driving his dead father's ride and didn't think he deserved a ticket....whatever...he's in jail now.

I'm a total basket-case...tears, heaving sobs...oh, yeah...I got ALL that....My Mommy and Daddy are on their way at 2 in the morning..........Thanks be to the Powers that Be that I lucked out on the parent front...'cause I have NO idea what to do.  Obviously, I don't feel close enough to ANY friends to help me through this time....thank god for my Mom and Dad.  Later.

I just got back from some funtastic girl-time with a neighbor girl of mine.  After two hours and a billion bobby-pins she had an adorable little 40's pin-up action goin' on.  I had a blast.

I had forgotten how much fun tunes and the smell of hairspray can be.

So, tonight...I'm gonna do some laundry,  work on editing Mike's VO Demo, clean the kitchen, and doll-up.  (Mike is goin' without me to Stroker's tonight for karaoke...I just gots too much to do.)  Not only am I workin' on various projects, I'm hopin' one of my dearest girlfriends can make it out this week and stay a spell, so...I'm really tryin' to get the house respectable...but, I'm not even sure if she's comin'...so's I'll probably work a bit more than clean and play a bit more than that.  (Sorry, it's my nature.)

Tomorrow morning, we have to drive out to Melissa, 'cause Mike might be painting this western town on a fence-front, then we have to go by his work in Garland...and all sorts of other things, so I have to make tonight count with the gettin' ducks in order.  Wish me Luck!

There was a time when Mondays were dreaded...Now, they are one of my very favorite days of the week.

They start around noon, when my man, Mike and I decide to finally get out of bed.  Sometimes, I go to the library or we run a couple of errands; but, today is one of those rare Mondays where we ain't got nothin' to do.

Mike is drawing a, "Marital Bliss???" and workin' on various projects today...me, well...I'm playin' on the computer, knitting a red poof ball hat (I finished the scarf and it is SUPER-cute,) doing some laundry and some dishes...and tadaDA...I am going to attempt Sopapillas.  Yum Yum Yum...I'll let cha' know how they come out.  (My Breakfast Burgers on a River of Fries was a HUGE success.)  Oh, yeah...and I'm gonna' work out today.

I hate working out with Mike, because after a week, his arms are already taut and starting to define...I'm just sore.

As for our Nights Out:

Wednesday we'll be at Stroker's on Harry Hines...this is a karaoke to go to if you like singing a lot and don't mind the drive.  Plus, it's early in the evening and the food is AWESOME here.  It's owned my Rick Fairless (of motorcycles) and is a NICE bar...just nobody karaokes...so, come on out, $13 Bucket of Beer (7-10.)

Thursday is Lonestar.  Lonestar is a "Neighborhood Bar" that is just huge.  Nice amount of pool tables, dart boards, shuffleboard, decent bar-snacks menu and yep!  Karaoke.  Now, there is a regular crowd here; sometimes you can sing loads, sometimes you can get in one or two...you never know; as the crowd is iffy as to when they show.

(This is my personal favorite show, as Mike and I graduated High School two blocks from this bar and my parents live only a few blocks more, so we get to often visit for a bit before the show....Plus, I have my own little table...I just love it.)

Friday night, Mike is at "The Buffalo Wild Wings" on Lemon in Dallas.  This place is commercial and HUGE!  The food is outstanding and the restaurant is located on the edge of all types of cool activities, making this the perfect "Karaoke Date Night."  Take yer lady here, then off to a show...total score.  The place has no real regulars so you'll be able to sing as much as you like, or be entertained by Mike.  The food is outstanding and the waitstaff, very friendly.

That's all we knows right now...something might come through on Saturday, it's still early in the week...but, people been askin'.  ---Later my Lollygaggers.

Mike and I find ourselves with a few days off and no need to even leave the house for some time.  We've been working so hard lately...that I think we deserve a few days of decadent frollic.  Later.

Well, Mike's regular Saturday Night Gig at Liquid Sports Bar is no more.  The bar has evaporated into the mist of bars that were.  No mas.  So...we have the night off and are totally lookin' on the bright side.

We're planning on going to "Our Karaoke Bar" which is less than a five minute walk from our pad.  We plan on having entirely too much to drink and showin' off our mad karaoke skills.  I am too too too too excited.

'Til we leave...I started a knitting project last night and am currently hip deep in bright blue yarn....and Mike's here, makin' jokes...keepin' me in stitches...get it???  Stitches.....Knitting...hahahah.  Yeah, I'm off.  (I also have to pick out an outfit, as I plan on looking sinful.)

Happy New Year to all us Lollygaggers.
Mike and I have been busy as all get out with the regular chaos of this time of year; plus, catching up with family, visiting with dear friends, gettin' our karaoke groove on, working on voice demos and other random acting endeavours.

Our "Karaoke Night" schedule this week is:
Wednesday - Rick Fairless' Ice House on Harry Hines from 7-11.
Thursday - Lone Star in Richardson from 9-12.
Friday - Buffalo Wild Wings on Lemon, show starts at 9!
and Saturday Night we kick up our heels at Liquid Sports Bar in Garland (10-1.)

This week we hope to pick out our Twenty-Five favorite "Marital Bliss???" comic strips and send them off to syndicates.  If you have a second, head on over there and look at the archive in photos and let us know which ones you think we should send...it'd really be a help!  (Remember to think Sunday Funnies.)

I've got all sorts of projects I'm workin' on this year and am REALLY trying to carve it down a bit...but, slow is the going.  As for resolutions this year?  Working Out and Eating Better...there you go.  Starting NOW!
So, I'm off to do some sort of exercise, later Lollygaggers.

Mike and I are finally home after ALL the holiday hustle.   Tuesday night we were at Lonestar...thanks to all you Christmas Karaoke Superstars...Tuesday through Thursday morning Mike and I were with my rockin' family and tonight we spent the plumb of the evening in the charming company of Mike's brood.  A Merry Christmas was had by all.

Thanks for all the presents guys...sorry I'm so poor right now and couldn't afford a proper holiday; but, them 's the breaks.  Hopefully, the new year will bring some changes in the best of ways.  My fingers sure are crossed.

Right now Mike is playing "Hitman" (I am grooving on the Ava Maria opening music...gorgeous...well, it was a second ago...now they are yappin'.)  Unfortunately, I saw the movie and thought it a horrid wad of garbage, so I'm playin' on the computer.

Tomorrow, we'll be at a new gig in Rowlett, at "The Track."  It's a new bar, so hopefully there will be some people there???  Saturday, we're back at Liquid (YAY, Shout out to all the "Liquid Folk.")

Well, Mike turned in early for bed now at midnight.  Christmas is officially over...well eight minutes ago.  I'm off to read, "Rhett Butler's People" that my bro and his honey gave me for Christmas...I have been wanting this book since I heard it existed.  YAY for Books!  YAY for family at the holidays!  YAY for Lollygagging.  Good Night Guys and Dolls.  ----Lynn, out.

(Actually, my eyes are kinda' blurry...I think I might turn in early myself.  So, this time I really mean it when I say, "Good Night.")

Hey, Lollygaggers...hope the holidays aren't Humbuggin' you to pieces.  We're all alright here...mostly.

So, here is where Mike will be this week (and you know I'll be in tow...so, come see us.)

Tuesday - Lonestar in Richardson (Which is my favorite of the karaoke gigs...lots of people, sometimes...and all kinds of bar games.) (9-Midnight)  Lonestar is mostly a country and classic kinda' bar...you can pretty much sing whatever you like and no one will look at you oddly.

Wednesday - Stroker's Icehouse on Harry Hines...this is a biker bar and we've never done a show there before; but, I'm super psyched...their website LOOKS awesome and I can't wait to feel the vibe of this joint. (7-10)

Friday - Buffalo Wild Wings off of Lemon.  We've been there once before and let me tell 'ya...there was NO line for signing up to croon...so, this might be a good one to visit. (9-1)  All kinds of music, so something for everybody.

Saturday - (7-9) at Dos Banderas...this is a really nice Mexican Restaurant...lots of regulars and perfect for an older crowd that wants to sit and enjoy dinner and a show.  It's only two hours, but everyone that wants to sing usually gets to and I like the people that show.  Totally country.

(10-1) Monkey's Grub and Pub...FUNFUNFUN place.  Lots of space to get your groove on if you like dancin' and it's a bit more D.J. than karaoke, but only 'cause people are shy about singin'.  It's also a biker bar...so, if you aren't a classic rock/metal fan...might want to steer clear.

Thursday is Mike's Birthday...so, if you are our friends, it might be nice to try to make it to a show this week...presents are also nice; but, your presence is present enough!

--------------------------------------------------

Where's the Justice in THAT?  Blog is still in the works...meanwhile, enjoy the X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE trailer.

(Hells YEAH!  It looks Wolvielicious!  I can NOT wait.  Tee Hee, twirl and skip!  I have to tell 'ya though...if that kid playin' Remy can't pull off a cajun accent...I'll be disappointed at that casting choice...but, everything else, EVERYTHING else looks AWESOME!)

Hey there my fellow Lollygaggers...

It's 2:55am...because, as you guys know...I'm a nightowl...as is my man...Mike.

He's sittin' here drawing...I'm watchin' Adult Swim (Moral Orel at the moment...which cracks me up!)  I thought I'd update you with what's goin' on and what you can expect in the upcomin' days (weeks...the year...blah blah blah.)

Mike and I are workin' on getting demo reels done and new resumes out...it's slow going.

We have also pledged to get our comics, like "Marital Bliss???" off to syndicates.

We promise to finish our western (that is basically done) and to produce at least two more screenplays next year.  Which is exciting.

Other than that...Mike is always lookin'....and this week I have finally started to venture back 'a'to the workin'....I'm takin' it slowly and am in no rush....so, all our other projects are still in the works...more than me gettin' some money makin' work, at the present.....(YES!!!! "Venture Brothers" just started.)  Anyway...yeah, I'm a little startin' to get back out there...but, mostly still writing and workin' on gettin' into voiceovers for both Mike and I...as well as the other projects...'til then...I'll keep 'ya posted.

Next BLOG...."Where's the Justice in That???"  a post about comic books, chicks and beach towels.
