Some things to know:

Torche is now a 3-piece, as of just before this show. You'll live, they were still amazing, rocked out, and made the audience go crazy.

They brought out the fog machine and I had a flashback to 90s FLOOR house shows, at the Utility house.

I couldn't get close enough through the fog to shoot Rick more/better :(

Jonathan's neck and arms do things that shouldn't be humanly possible.

Steve makes an awesome singing cowboy with a shiner.

Dre does wear skirts (I'm one to talk.) And should more often.

And Clouds turn a quiet after-show sidewalk sing-a-long into one hell of a karaoke-esque moment. Including but not limited to singing/playing: The Misfits, Cheap Trick, Billy Joel and The Rolling Stones. Those of us that remained all joined in at some point.

Enjoy... jana

Looks like it was an awesome show! They had the fog machine kickin when they played here too so I didn't get many shots of them, not that I care because I would much rather rock out to one of my favorite bands ever, than have to worry about getting shots.

What happened to Jaunsito?

I've probably shot Torche more than any other band. It is a challenge for me to get new/different shots every time. And I can certainly enjoy and shoot the show. That's my thing. But the fog machine made it a LOT harder to get quality shots.

As for Juan, I'm not going to gossip. It would probably be best if you asked him yourself.

I hear ya. I personally have a hard time shooting a band like Torche (what with the crowd surfing and pushing "mosh pit" and all) and enjoying the performance.
Great set!

JARED GRABB (midwest tour in August)

A three-piece! Bummer. I'm sure it will still be good, but bummer.

I missed Juan, but the band seemed very positive about the new lineup. We may yet have a few more surprises in store.

Thanks Kyle! Sorry it turned out I had no pedal shots, which is really unusual for me.

Guitarist JUAN MONTOYA Talks About Altercation That Led To His Dismissal From TORCHE - Dec. 16, 2008

Before it was announced that guitarist Juan Montoya would be playing his final show with the Miami, Florida's TORCHE at All Tomorrow's Parties, Rhapsody spoke with Montoya about some of his best and worst memories of 2008. In what became his last interview as a member of TORCHE, he spoke about a black-eye inducing altercation that took place between him and singer/guitarist Steve Brooks. "I feel bad — I punched my singer in the face and gave him a shiner," he said. "We both attacked each other and unfortunately we fought in front of our friends that we traveled with and in front of everyone in the club at soundcheck, and it's just something I'm very embarrassed of." Brooks subsequently released a statement saying that "[Montoya is] no longer with us due to ongoing personal reasons."
