Show last night was great even though I thought my banter was slightly off. The band was hot and I was in good company with Atlantic/Pacific and my friends from Split Lip backstage. We had an awesome projection of a bunch of Mexican revolutionaries as our backdrop, felt big.

I met Cisko Adler from Shwayze at the show, turns out he is a Walking Concert fan. I don't know his work but he was really nice. I'm going to google/youtube him and find out more.

I went to the club to pick up the equipment this afternoon. When I pulled up to my place I locked myself out of the car. I parked halfway into the lane and in front of a fire hydrant, pure stress. Lucky for me it was a zipcar and they have a mothership that unlocks their cars by magic. Heck of a day.

I got home very late last night from my show in Philly, around 5:30 am. I was so tired but I needed to unwind a bit before going to sleep so I put on the Military channel, nothing like "Battle Plan" to lull me to beddy bye. Drawing parallels to several conflicts of the 20th century this episode was about the necessity of air superiority when launching an invasion of a sovereign nation. The segment I saw was about the gulf war. The footage of Saddam flanked by his supporting cast of mustached sycophants, all looking so sharp and yet relaxed in their fatigues and berets made me feel a sweet nostalgia. Saddam was bracing for the coming wave of Allied onslaught, his advisors and his people vehemently in support. This was before I knew what a sunni or a kurd or a shiite was. They were all just Iraqi's then and wether out of fear or repression they had order and we weren't responsible for them. It was better than the Smashing Pumpkins reunion.

We played an arts center/Film house/my friends house last night in Philly and it was awesome. Quest Love from the roots was there and was TOTALLY jocking me, was flattering but got embarrassing after a while. Chuck Treece ripped many tightly inspired riffs and solos with McRad. The space is in the oldest part of Philly and there are tunnels under the building built by the illuminati AKA Ben Franklin himself, some real Nick Cage Treasure Hunters type shit. Me and the band played polyamourous set, shifting paradymes, just about put the entire system on trial. I love Philadelphia, it's people, culture, thank you for being you.

Firstly, I'm pumped to play in Philly this Friday night. I'll be playing someplace besides the Khyber which is bittersweet but I suppose this is a time for new challenges. Rehearsed the band today and we sounded tight as fuck, new songs included. In conclusion, this show is going to be awesome. @ Media Bureau Studio B 725 N. 4th St. w/ MC RAD!

Getting psyched for Did You Hear About The Morgans? Totally, me too. First of all it has one of my favorite stars, Hugh Grant. He was awesome in all those movies where he plays the guy that he plays. The best part is that Sarah Jessica Parker stars opposite as his love interest, holla (is that how you spell it?) ! Anyways, I don't know (besides me) who could possibly be into this movie besides me and the people who are really holding on to the Sex In The City dream and I think it's wrong to take advantage of those people by making and marketing this movie. I don't have anything against SJP or HG besides that they are rich and famous for nothing that I am a fan of but this movie strikes me as cynical at best. Instead I recommend you see a good movie I saw on an airplane recently called Land Of The Lost, it was pretty funny, really wasn't bad.

Andie is so beautiful. I love her for her performance in Groundhog Day in particular. I love and admire her so much that I'm ready for her to just look old already. She doesn't have to look bad or anything, she couldn't. I guess I'm just sick of the myth that she's selling, not only to women but to men that a woman can remain so beautiful, sweet and youthful for her entire life if she just buys this product or that. She can do better than that professionally in my view by just allowing herself to grow old already and let somebody take a photograph that's not doctored up beyond belief. I mean look at Bill Murray these days, isn't supposed to be the other way around?

I'm at LGA waiting for a flight to Sante Fe, night after the emmy's. I'm sitting around eating a terrible and overpriced egg and cheese that I got from Sbarro when I notice a familiar yet unexpected figure in my periferal vision. I look up and see that it's Alec Baldwin about ten paces from my table and about to walk by. I'm a 30 Rock fan and I had just seen him on the Emmy's so before I realized that I didn't actually know him we caught eyes and I smiled at him in recognition. In turn he gave me the scariest look I've ever seen, it must be the way he looks at Ireland when he's really pissed and she's acting like a Piggy, the look that made Kim Bassinger crazy, the look that says "don't you fuckin dare think about coming up for an autograph or any shit like that because I will fucking kill you by ripping your head off and shitting down your neck". I wasn't going to ask him for an autograph anyway but I was kind of nervous being in the same part of the food court with him after that look. He was all smiles and good cheer on the Emmy's only the night before but at the airport he looked pretty shitty, must have went out to celebrate after. He was with a much younger women, maybe slightly older than Ireland, which only gives her more reason to act like a piggy toward her Dad. That said, if he were to have smiled back at me I might have taken it as green light to have my picture taken with him. I thought it was cool that he knows how to guard his perimeter with out a security team ala .com but it was a little awkward.

Halloween was hectic, always is, I hate putting together a costume until it's done then I'm usually pretty satisfied. Last night I went as Roman Grant AKA "The Prophet" though I was confused with David Byrne in "True Stories" twice. I went to a nice house party in Williamsburg with a great view of the Empire State building. Top costues I saw there were..."Grey Gardens but slutty" and Anna Wintour. At 1am I went to the Vice Party to see The Bad Brains. The line was psychotic and even though I had a pass it didn't look likely for me to get in. Lukily a friend of mine was working in production and got me through. I walked in with the band. I saw my friend Chippy Love AKA Hesher. We had a project years ago called Crosby Stills and Hash along with Sergio Vega that we never put out but is awesome. We reminiced. Also saw my friend Sasha who's a writer. He wrote a book about hip hop that came out a few years ago, was supposedly good. The warehouse that the show was in was very sweaty. the Bad brains came out and cooly set up their equipment. HR sat behind the git amps in a white hooded sweatshirt and a bulletproof vest underneath, hood up. After around ten minutes they were ready to play, opening with "Attitude". the thing I like about Bad Brains these days is the disconnect between HR's experiance and everyone else in the room, the two couldn't be furthur apart. The band plays great, total pro's, HR is just art. His art might be to see how far he can test the patience of Bad Brains fans, how far he has to go before people accept him for who he is and/or destroy the Bad Brains. He is uncomprimising which I admire. He gives no angst or energy to songs that pretty much set the bar for how pissed music can be. Watching his still mumbling silhouette with the crowd going totally crazy in front of him I wondered what was going on his his mind. He flashes lots of peace signs yet the crowd is so violent, at least violent looking. The bummer is that the show kept getting interupted by security, who were doing their jobs I suppose. It seemed like a dangerous place to have a show like Bad Brains. The interuptions really must have thrown HR because he sang the word to Attitude during Sailing On. To his credit he kept singing the word to Attitude even after he heard the band singing back ups to Sailing On, he's uncomprimising. I didn't make it through the whole set as it was late and I wasn't really enjoying the show too much. I watched their whole set at Fun Fun Fun Fest last year and I loved it. I'll always be a fan and there's nothing HR can do to stop me but last night wasn't my time to indulge. I'll be playing a couple of solo acoustic shows with HR next month, I hope he shows up!

Gary Shandling has botox inflated lips. Why? What group of people love Shandling for his good looks. I don't know his work too well but I think he might even make some of his living from making fun of his own appearance. I don't condemn the man for jumping on the artificial lip bandwagon. I think Hollywood prolly makes it more acceptable to do what I percieve as crazy shit to the body that you were given, inherited from your parents. I guess I've harped on this subject before as it pertains to David Bowie's teeth but you need teeth to eat, lips are a part of it but they don't need to be big for someone to eat.

Waiting for Julian Casablancas to come on Conan. I'm not quite used to him in LA. He seems like such an east coast guy. Well I thought he wasn't very good when he (Conan) took over Letteman;s spot to begin with and he went on to rule so I have faith he will get it together. It's funny though how a different skyline behind him changes perception.

Here comes Julian...he looks good, skinny in black, he dances like Mr. Burns, the song is good not much different than the Strokes. I'm not into the band, too un cooly cool. A buddist thank you at the end, praying hands. The girl in the band looks cute. I'm a fan but this will have to grow on me.

Though I love him, Paul can't talk about a song on camera without singing part of it. Doesn't matter if it's his song or anyone else's.
