From the release notes:
.. .. 5U8.998 - Dismal Futures - Witchdoctor Massif & Song Without Fucksat long last, sub.dot unleashes two monster bootleg dubs from Denver's very own Dismal Futures. i'm going to abstain from actually saying what these are bootlegs OF, but seeing as how clever Dismal is with the titles, you'll probably figure it out before you get them loaded into your player. beyond being clever with the titles, Dismal's pretty clever on the buttons, and of all the bootleg's i've heard, Witchdoctor Massif takes the cake and eats it too. respect to Dismal for supporting sub.dot and feeding you lot some free beats. enjoy in 320kbps mp3 or FLAC at subdotmission.comsmash some bassbins courtesy of sub.mission.

From this link: http://www.coloradomusicbuzz.com/maincontentcmb.asp?ID=&CATID=1&SUBCATID=5&COLUMNSECTION=Electronica&VOL=3&ISSUE=2Pay No Attention To The Man Behind The Curtain is the debut EP from Denver resident Dismal Futures soon to drop on July 8th and available on iTunes, Rhapsody and AmazonMP3. The first track on the album “Straight From the Horse’s Ass” is about 90BPM, a dark hip-hop synth layered piece, sampling George W. Bush speech clips; a sardonic showcase of some of his most controversial statements. The second track “Theolitics” is perhaps my favorite track, a deep track around 85 BPM with an organic and wistful flute. The melody carries you down a nostalgic blippy and percussive river. The third track is a Dismal Futures remix of a song by Jaime Woon called “Wayfaring Stranger”. Jaime Woon’s vocals and lyrics are reminiscent of Jamie Lidell and the drums, simple synth and reverb make it a groovy track. The last track “Suicide Of The Everyman” is a slow and undulating track almost menacing as it builds gently and breaks on forgiving soft piano notes It’s a pensive and promising Downtempo EP to be released on Dismal Recordings.Buy this album @:Amazon MP3Rhapsody MP3and iTunes!

I've decided to remix tunes that influenced me in my youth as often as possible until it gets old. Currently, I have remixed: Prodigy - Voodoo People Bonecrusher - Never Scared
Please let me know if you have tunes that have influenced you from 2000 or before... I'm always looking for tunes that melted my head from back then. Some tunes have managed to escape me, and I'd like some reminders... Hope you like what's up.. and I hope you take a trip in Casey Kasem's 'Way Back Machine' too. In this "new-is-best" climate of musical culture, I feel the timeless classics are being neglected. Forgetting your roots can only hurt future music, and my aim is to push an interest in revisiting the tunes that helped shape your musical taste and, hopefully, your worldview! EZ, -dismal

I was shopping for music one day, and I found a Jamie Woon song called "Wayfaring Stranger" that really captured my interest. His voice is soulful, soothing and he sings from his heart.
I bought the song, and couldn't stop playing it over and over for a week.
His version (the accapella) is fantastic, but I thought that I could manage to add 3 instruments to the ensemble. I think I've done that fairly successfully, but that's for you to decide.
PLEASE visit his MySpace Page or buy his music at ClickGroove or iTunes. This man doesn't (and SHOULDN'T) work for free. Buy his CD's, pay to get into his shows, send him loveletters and all that. This guy is the real deal and he deserves all the praise and fortune you can toss his way. Let's hope that it does not elude him, as it does so many talented artists.
Enjoy the tune, -Dismal
Jamie sez: "I think it sounds really good! Like an Organ Donor/WS mashup! It's really cool to hear another person's interpretation from the other side of the world; given that the song originates from America that's all the more special."

So I decided to post this now, since I'll be really busy next week. I'm calling it 'Mix #1' because I'm hoping that I can find the time to post another mix this month. (With some of my own tunes I'm currently working on..) Some of you may notice in the tracklist that I have 'stacked' artists in the mix. While I have a general rule against doing that, they seemed to fit together quite well and I thought they sounded tasty... so I did it anyway.
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE MIX!!
Tracklist: Forensix - 1st Dynasty Decklyn - Messiah DQ1 - Wear The Crown Side9000 - The Bells Bowzer - Disconnect Me MarkOmen - Muddy Valley Vox Pops Sik Rebel - Mutant One Janner - The Power of Sound Distance - Fractured Distance - Night Vision Parson - Showdown Parson - Texas Crawl Si Begg - My Style (Si Begg's Bleep Steppas Mix) Soundbox - The Art of Soundboxing Milanese - Mr. Ion
