So we are just recovering after what was the pinnacle of Phix’s "career" last weekend. We were fortunate enough to have been invited to play the newly expanded Langerado Music Festival this year which was held at the hallowed Phishy grounds of Big Cypress Indian Reservation in Florida (not on the actual site of the Phish show, though.) We were given a great slot for late-night Friday, the longest set of any band all weekend, and it started right at 11:55, when Phish’s marathon Millenium set started (that was the festival’s idea.) It was a great, large crowd that had to pass on both Umphrey’s McGee and Sector 9 to catch us. We were bummed to be playing at the same time as those bands as we really like them and wanted to catch their sets, but such is life. There was a great glow-stick battle during The Curtain that really blew us away, then there were the bikini-clad hoola-hoopers dancing behind us, none of which we had planned, but all were greatly appreciated. Then the way the fierce rain ended our set at 3:45 am - it felt like the weather was climaxing with the jam in Hood and it was just really emotional for us. Before playing we were a little worried since we had never gone 7 months without playing this music before, but it felt really good so I think there may be a few shows in the future, starting with our 500th show here in Boulder next month on Friday, April 4th.
That’s right - 500 shows. It’s hard to believe, and it gives us a point from which to look back on what we’ve been able to do with this project. From playing dive bars to a few people to playing at Big Cypress to a few thousand, it’s been very cool. When we announced we were calling it quits last summer, it was essentially putting the era of our consistent national touring to rest. With Derek living back in Chicago with his family, it seemed like the thing to do - we didn’t think we’d be able to do it casually and keep it at the high level we had always expected of ourselves unless we were going at it 100%. But after playing Langerado we feel like we can still do it pretty well even if it’s just every once in a while. So we’ll probably keep doing special events and festivals occasionally as long as the interest is there. Just don’t expect to see us back touring the country any time soon.
At Phix’s 500th show on April 4th you will also have the opportunity to catch a couple of Phix’s new original projects that we’ve been working on since Phix stopped touring. The Higher Good features Paul Murin on Guitar and drummer Chris Sheldon and some other Colorado friends playing all of their original material. The Ethereal Plane, a band that has been around Boulder for a few years, now features Phix bassist Brian Adams. They will be starting off the evening at 9 pm. Please join us.

Hello Phriends, So we have just been informed that we will be playing a late-night set at Langerado on Friday, March 7th, at 11:55 PM (the same time Phish started their marathon Millennium set at Big Cypress.) We will play as long as they will let us (music is scheduled to stop at 4am each night so don't get your hopes up for an all-nighter, as much as we would like to do it.) Tickets can be picked up through the official Langerado Web site at www.langerado.comSee you there! Edit: This replaces our original Thursday slot. ****We will not be recreating Phish's Big Cypress setlist

Honestly, we didn't have plans to play again so soon after what were supposed to be our last shows back in August, but we did leave the door open and how could you turn down an offer to play Big Cypress if you are a Phish tribute band? Anyway, we are extremely excited to be working with Ethan and South Florida Jams again, who brought us down to South Florida in the past when we were touring. Langerado is one of the finest festivals in the country and we look forward to providing a little Phishiness for those that are interested. For those that are not, there will be 4 other stages where you can check out other things while we're playing. There are also 2 Grateful Dead tribute bands at the festival!

So we just wanted to answer the inevitable question of "What are you guys doing now that Phix is done touring?"
Guitarist Paul Murin is still living in the hills of Boulder County, teaching guitar lessons and playing with a few different projects. One is a new original project called The Higher Good with Phix drummer Chris Sheldon and some other people from Chris' old original bands, Running With Sally and Purple Buddha (Trevor Clendenin, Ted Tilton and Stork). Paul and Chris also play obscure Grateful Dead tunes together in a band called Mason's Children (which also has Ted and Stork in it.) Paul and Trevor also do duo acoustic gigs together. Paul's Web site is www.highcountryguitar.com.
Chris lives near Paul in the hills and in addition to the above projects with Paul, he is also playing in another original project in Boulder called Enzo and an Allman Brother's tribute act called One Way Out.
Phix bassist Brian Adams, who also still lives in Boulder County, has been playing around locally and has an upcoming New Year's Eve show planned with the Tiffany Christopher Band at Kansas City's Uptown Theatre.
Derek Berg (Keys) moved back to the Chicago area back in the summer of 2006 with his family and teaches piano there with his "Creative Piano Strategies" (www.creativepianostrategies.com). He ocassionally plays around Chicago with Chicago Pop-god MER.
We'll keep this page updated as our projects change. There should be links to most of these projects on our "top friends."

Humeur actuelle : empreint de gratitude
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has had anything to do with Phix, whether you used to be in the band or just stumbled into one of our shows wasted out of your mind and immediately forgot about it.
Our utmost thanks go out to:
The guys in Phish and their whole organization, not that we ever got any official blessing or assistance from them, but they did, you know, create the whole thing.
Eric Pirritt, Sarah Finger, Jon Caprio, Rob Kurtz and everyone else at the Fox Theatre in Boulder, CO - our home venue (23 shows!) and the team that helped get us out on the road.
Jay Bianchi and the gang from Quixote's and Cervante's in Denver for giving us a residency and many other memorable shows (31 of them.)
The couples that invited us to play at their weddings - we were really honored to be there and they were all phantasticly phun weddings: Matt & Arlene (Monterey, CA) Jeff & Jessica (Long Island, NY) Jeff & Suzy (Miami Beach, FL) Brady & Emily (Atlanta, GA) George & Elayne (Boone, NC) Curt & Kristen (Tupelo, MS) Sean & Skippy (Rochester, NY)
Founding Bass player Brad Wilbur and all of our sound and light guys we've had on our crew over the years - Dex, Isaac, Alan, Dickwagon, Saxton, Nelli, etc.
The folks that invited us to their festivals and the private parties and all the venues we've played all over the country (and Canada and Mexico)
All the other non-venue music types we've worked with (agents, promoters, talent buyers, publicists, etc.) - even the ones that screwed us!
Everyone that came to see us and our street teamers that helped to spread the word!
People that felt compelled to talk about us, good or bad.
Thanks

Covertry News Flash! We just got some awful news about State Bridge Lodge. The Lodge burned down early this morning and we can't express how bummed we are that such an amazing, historic structure is now gone. Paul and I were both just there last weekend for the opening weekend with Shakedown Street and it was magical as always and looking better than ever. It appears that the yurts and cabins were spared, but we don't know the status of State Bridge as a venue for the rest of this summer. Of course, this is a big deal for us since this is where we have scheduled our final Covertry shows. Rest assured that we'll either be at a modified State Bridge or another fitting replacement venue come August 4 & 5. We'll keep you updated as we figure out what's going on. Peace, Chris et al.
