I just returned from Toronto after seeing The Musical Box concert last Saturday. What a great time that was! They recreated the Selling England By The Pound tour that Genesis performed back in 1973 in the most painstaking detail. As a Genesis fan myself I was absolutely amazed at the quality of artistic spirit they put into and brought out of the performance. From stage design, sound, lighting, backing images, instrumentation, and choreography, not to mention their abilities at performing the music itself - instrumentally and vocally - I couldn't help but feel transported to another period in time. It was a sonic and visual recreation for sure. Each member of TMB is excellent at their role of imitating the members of Genesis - Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Michael Rutherford, Steve Hackett, and Phil Collins - but I would have to say I most enjoyed Martin Levac on drums...he looks like Collins, sings like Collins, and even plays drums left handed! Levac's sense of rhythm and "feel" even grooved like Collins! I really enjoy musicians who break ground and create their own unique sound (last Thursday and Friday I attended Dennis Chambers and Alain Caron master classes in their improvisitory jazz styles - amazing!) but what The Musical Box has undeniably succeeded in is an artform in and of itself, allowing Genesis fans a portal to experience these classic performances once again.
Three years ago I saw TMB perform the Foxtrot tour from 1973 and I became an instant fan; now I have just seen Selling England By The Pound and I REALLY enjoyed the show; I will look forward to seeing The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour as soon as I am able.

...today I checked into MySpace and found four inappropriate blogs that apparently I posted! huh? what's that all about? So I login and see a big note from Tom (thanks Tom...you're a true friend) and an email from another friend concerned that I be aware of this. Thanks.
So someone found a way to invade my site and post these inappropriate blogs...and this is called "phishing". Well, here is my solution for this: if someone wants to phish on my site they'd better watch their back 'cause I'll be coming after them with one of those really good fishing rods that have cross-scrim construction and fitted with one of those Dancing Stinger hooks so that when it hooks into your nose you will not be able to escape! Then I'll drag you around for awhile in one of those bigass Sea Phantom boats at 70 mph (there'll be no trolling here!). And after I've had my fun I'll just throw you back in the water (oops, are those sharks?...sorry).
I'll open this blog for any one else's comments...we could riff on this one for awhile.
Jason
BTW...they should have called "phishing" something else...because I like the band Phish and, to me, "phishing" is what you do when you listen to their music. My suggestion is to call this form of online invasion "nerd-ing" or "pimple-faced with no date-ing", or "my RAM is so small and my disk so floppy-ing"...which seem more to the point.
