Arrived Tuesday at 10ish am, and three people were wrapping up and one man loading a single washer. Pants went into a double washer, tube socks went into a single washing machine. Took a walk, came back, socks were done but pants still cranking. Used 5 dryers for the whole lot. Sorted pants there (by that point, no one was there), then sorted socks at home.

Laundromat report
Very busy. Had a quarter covered in red Kool-Aid/Jell-O goo. It wouldn't go in the coin slot of the double, but did so in the push handle coin inserter that's on the single washer.
Single washers have no lock so you can stop it during the spin cycle and throw the damper clothes into an available dryer before someone using a double or triple washer (that locks door while washing) can.
Come see Laundry Basket and Spiegelman perform this Friday the 13th. Details at funnynight dot tumblr dot com.

Ugh, Sunday. No matter what hour you appear at the 'mat it's busy. I got in and only saw one triple washer free. Thinking I didn't have enough quarters, I crammed adult clothes with the baby clothes in the triple. All the other washers stopped before mine, but as luck would have it, it was mostly guys doing clothes, and guys, unlike myself, tend to use one dryer for all their clothes. Myself, I used 5 dryers. Otherwise my clothes never get dried.
Stay tuned: I have to wash bedsheets very soon.

Thanks to the rain the only good day to go to the laundromat is the dreaded Saturday, where every 9-to-5er rolls out of bed to do laundry. There are waves where people show up all at once. First wave: the early responders at 7am, then the hung-over at noon. Trick is to show up in between waves, to get a washer while the dryers are being used.
At 10ish there was a triple loader free and a single. The other big washers had clothes in them but not running. I crammed all the t-shirts into the triple and immediately jammed quarters in before the woman with the full washers had a chance to start hers. That's why I carry quarters when I enter, to get a three minute edge I would had squandered breaking change from the change machine. I started the single and pour in powder when it was half full then put the underwear in after the detergent dissolved. That way I wouldn't have powder caked on the clothes like when you put the clothes in first, then the powder.
Every washer was being used but none of the dryers were. That meant I had to rush to get my clothes in the dryers before they are all used up. Everyone's clothes will be washed and ready for dryers at the same time. I did the spin trick with the single washer. That's where you take your wet clothes out early when the Spin light is on and cram them in an available dryer and dry for an extra quarter to get the damper clothes dry. You can't do that with the double and triple washers since they remain locked until the end.
When the t-shirts were done washing I crammed them into 4 dryers (there's a lot of shirts) and sorted them there.

This report combines two laundromats visits. A few days ago, I washed underwear. I found a double washer open with the washers full, but all had their time almost up. That meant the clothes will soon be drying and hopefully out of the dryers before the washer stopped. Used three dryers at 12 minutes, shoved into bag because there's no need to sort socks and boxers in the laundromat.
Returned days later to wash shirts and pants. Place was empty but quickly filled up. Got the triple washer, used four dryers. I wasn't hogging the dryers, there was still empties. What was uncool was there was dried clothes in three dryers but it was all good.

New Year's Day sucks for laundry because it's the holiday everyone goes to a laundromat and wash clothes for work the next day, and, resolutions were to do chores, so head to a laundromat on the first day of the year. One triple load was free, perfect for my load of exclusively towels. Towels are low stress to wash but seems to stay in the laundry pile until there are no more clean towels. Plus towels are always damp.Got the towels in four dryers. The people using the other washers arrived lated, way after my towels were in. It got very busy. Owner was there. Laundromat report for Jan 1 09, from Spiegelman of the comedy duo, Laundry Basket and Spiegelman.

Showed up in the afternoon with only one load. Used single washer, removed it early when it was spinning and got two top dryers. I split the wash and heated it for 30 minutes a pop. I threw the clothes in a bad and sorted it later.
