Hey guys!
Wow, what a busy past few days! I can't believe it's Monday, already! AGAIN! (I guess that's how it works :-)
Last Thursday Ma and I did the MDA "Lockup." Thank you so much to all who donated money for the cause over the past few months. An officer showed up at my apartment, "arrested" us, and took us to "jail." We successfully raised $1510 bail, which will send some kids with Muscular Dystrophy to camp this summer!
So we played Bahama Joe's Friday, and had a really great night! We had two new "tops" to add to our sound system, which are twice as powerful as the ones we were adding them to. Yup, that's right.... We had to buy more equipment, so we can rock you THAT much harder at the club! It was really great seeing a ton of people come out and enjoy the night with us. We had bunches of folks grab flyers, and promise to vote for our video "Queen," this week. THANK YOU!
Saturday we played at Rockahock in Lanexa, and it was a really a fun night. I had been fighting some sort of cough/sore throat, and John was struggling with some food poisoning, but I think no one even knew! The show must go on! Right?! We had a great crowd come out, a packed dance floor, and it became clear that more and more folks are making the trip to the Campground to see us play there. I cannot say it enough, THANK YOU for all of your support.
My Ma and I have even had a busy Monday for the band. Our buddy Bill Bevins conference called the two of us at 7:00am this morning, to do an on-air chat for the CMT contest we're in! If you haven't gotten the memo (where have you been?!) We are in the top 64 videos at madness.cmt.com.
The end of my report will bring you up to date with us in the past few hours..... We got a call from Tracy at News Channel 6, asking us to do an interview about the video for tonight's news! Shew! How cool that they want to help! My roommate works at Bev's Homemade Ice Cream in Carytown, they just remodeled and it looks AWESOME. We thought "what a great place to film the interview!" We spoke about the "Queen" video, singing as mother and daughter, and had us some ice cream (sorbet for me since I don't do dairy...) Check it out TONIGHT at 6:00pm on News Channel 6.
Well.... I think that's it for now. Again, thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has been helping us with the CMT contest. Your dedication to helping us reach our goals is undeniably flattering!
Remember.... the contest goes through until Monday, Feb. 26th. ONE MORE WEEK!
****We are the top left bracket****

Wow! I watched the Grammy's last night and was blown away. It was so nice to see live performances from stars that could deliver, and sound good! ya know? Congrats to the Dixie Chicks for nearly sweeping the awards.... and my personal fav. Carrie Underwood for best new artist of the year! I knew as soon as I bought that album that she was going to win something for it. And she did!
If you didn't make it out to Cabo's on Saturday night you missed a good show (and cake)! We had a fun room, lots of people, and some great dancers! It was my roommate's 23rd birthday celebration, and we had a few tables full of people that really enjoyed seeing the band for the first time. Thank you, as always, to Cabo's for being such a nice group of people to work with, and thanks to the familiar faces in the audience that regularly see us there. You do not go unrecognized. ?
It's a busy, busy week for my Ma and I. Tomorrow night we will be hosting the 2nd "Songwriters Night" at Cabo's. Thursday we will be arrested at my apartment, taken to jail, and HOPEFULLY we'll have enough bail to NOT SPEND THE NIGHT! If you're reading this, and want to make a donation to our "lockup" experience, LET US KNOW! Every little bit counts, and goes to a great cause for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Friday night we play Bahama Joe's, and Saturday we'll be a few miles East on 64 at Rockahock. If you're up for it either or both nights, come hang out!
Hope to see you out!

OOOOok....so it's been much longer than it should have been since I've updated this blog! My mom's gonna ground me or something if I don't get it done.
Did you guys see the face melting performance tonight from PRINCE on the halftime show? Purple Rain....more literally than anyone could have planned.
Anyhow! I hope everyone had a good week. I know we did. I'm not sure if you caught it, but the band was on "Virginia This Morning" Channel 6 CBS Wednesday morning. My Ma and I did a live interview with Bill Bevins and Cheryl Miller, and the band played "Hey Hey Baby" live. It was a cool new experience to be playing in a TV station rather than on the radio. Pretty cool.
If you haven't gotten the memo, we wrapped our music video project "Queen of the Neighborhood" this week, and sent it off to CMT! The video footage from our gig last Saturday was really awesome. You can check out the video on our www.marnamacy.com webpage, let us know what you think! Thanks to all who came out and supported our opening for Tracy Lawrence last weekend. The night at Cattle Annie's was great! We really enjoyed seeing Tracy perform live that morning at the radio station WYYD in Lynchburg as well. (Despite the major speeding ticket I got on the way.....)
Plans next weekend? We're playing Cabo's on Saturday night, and would love to see you!
Did the groundhog see his shadow? IS SPRING HERE YET?!
Happy Super Bowling....

Hello All!
Hope everyone stayed warm last weekend! We had a good time at Destry in Emporia. Some awesome people contributed more to the bail that we need for our MDA "LockUp". Looking forward to playing there again!
We're playing at Cattle Annie's this weekend! We will be opening for Tracey Lawrence on Saturday night, and shooting the last bit for our "Queen" video. If you haven't made up your mind to come out.....do it! You too could be broadcast on CMT if we win this contest!

Happy MLK day! Not to be confused with yours truely (Macy Louise Kaczmarek).....:-) I hope everyone had an awesome weekend. Were you as busy as we were? It took me a full day to recover after the ball-busting Saturday we had. Friday night we played at Cabo's, woke up at 6:00am Saturday to begin shooting our "queen" video, did a benefit gig at the Positive Vibe Cafe, and then played Cabo's again Saturday night. Needless to say we were running on pure adrenaline by our last stretch Saturday, but we made it through...and I was pretty much dead to the world until dinner time on Sunday. We had an incredible day with our shoot. Our "queen" was PERFECT, and the weather could not have been better. We had some hot boy toys show up, along with an audience from the neighborhood we were shooting in. Thank you can not be said enough to the crew for the shoot....Dan, Tim, Kevin, Mel, and Nicole...a special thanks! Nicole put this little video clip together which is pretty hilarious. Another 'lil sneak peak at what we're working on! Hope to see you this weekend if you can make it down to Emporia. We will be playing both Friday and Saturday night at Destry. They like to line dance to our originals...so come out and learn a few! Have a safe week! (is it really the middle of January already?!) :-) Macy Lou

Happy New Year! This past Friday we played our first gig as Marna & Macy. We had a blast playing at Bahama Joe's again, and brought down the house! I don't know if it was the refreshment of a new year, having some faithful fans in the house, or just something in the air, but I felt like the performance of the band was our best yet! My Ma and I made our way out into the crowd quite a few times, and even had some audience participation for some of the songs. Please check out the new video Nicole shot of "Hey Hey Baby" posted on our myspace, and on youtube. It's short, sweet, and to the point :-) We're going to start recording some more this week, have the first Songwriters Night at Cabo's on Tuesday, and will begin shooting our first video for "Queen of the Neighborhood" this weekend! Keep your fingers crossed, and eyes opened for lots of new and exciting things from us...'cause I think we're on a roll!
Hope to see you this weekend at Cabo's...Friday and Saturday.
New pics posted from Friday! My Ma said maybe I didn't want to show them all, because I'm a sweaty mess in most of them....but I'll share anyway...because what you see is what you get!
Macy :-)

....Because now we're Marna & Macy! We played at Cabo's last Saturday, the eve of New Years Eve, and it was the last gig with the title Marna Bales Band. It was a great night at Cabo's. Quite a few MBB fans came out to party with us a little early for New Years, make quite a few requests off our first two albums, and it ended up being a really great night to dance! Believe it or not, we did not gig on New Years, and layed low! My Ma and Jo said that they hadn't spent a New Years not gigging in at least 15 years...and I imagine Velpo, Audie, and John are in the same boat. So I hope they enjoyed the much deserved break. ...'cause it's a new year and time to work! We got some demos this past week as promised from some publishers in Nashville. We are truely honored to be given the opportunity to take a stab at them, and have already begun to play around with a few of the tracks. Maybe we'll play one at a gig in the near future?...... Hope to see you at Bahama Joe's this Friday! First gig of 2007, and as Marna & Macy...so don't miss it!

(I have to be honest....it is really strange seeing my name with the band now..."no pressure or anything".....surreal...hope I don't let anyone down!...)

The first thing we saw was the Outlaws "Marna & Macy" marquee as we drove in Friday night. What a nice welcome! During the first set we performed many of our original songs to a packed dance floor - Judy has been teaching line dances to about 10 of our songs - yeah!! I think I need to go to one of her classes. Our song "On This Chrismas Day" was recently added to a compliation CD that was sent to our troops overseas so about midway through the night we thanked our local military for their service by giving away a box of our holiday CDs. It was great seeing so many new faces - hope to see you all again soon.

Jody and I met at Bahama Joe's last Friday afternoon to load in and it felt like we hadn't moved gear in a year! In reality, it had been just 3 weeks since our last gig but after Nashville, Thanksgiving, and a weekend off we were ready to rock! At the beginning of the night, we were all a bit skeptical of the "holiday crowd." Because of shopping, company parties, and travel, it's normally a slow time of year in the bars. Play your best whether it's for 5 people or 500 people, right? So we did! We played all of our hard-hitting tunes with our super loud subs and drew the growing crowd onto the dance floor for the night. One of my best friends just returned from Iraq, and was experiencing the band for his first time with some girlfriends of mine. With original plans to stick around for 1 or 2 sets, they were having such a blast and quickly gave in to staying for the whole night! Right before our last set, I noticed some more familiar faces in the crowd, and realized that people I had not seen since high school were there! They had no idea that I was in a band, and were absolutely SHOCKED to find out that the "hot girl" I was singing on stage with was my MOM! By closing time I think the high of being back on stage took over for the band, and we were having a blast! I was taking pictures of the crowd and band from the stage, learned my first line dance with the help of some BJ regulars, and Ma and I sang the last few songs while getting our groove on within the crowd. Jody said "now THAT'S entertaining..you've GOT to do that ALL THE TIME." I think he's right ? 'Cause it kicked ass!
