I would like to thank everyone that attended our first film review at the Friars of Beverly Hills.  The Friars of Beverly Hills (FOBH) has been a prominent private show business club since its formation in 1961 by Milton Berle. Over the decades, The Friars of Beverly Hills has become world-renowned for its Roasts and testimonial dinners (now called Lifetime Achievement Awards). The FOBH is also famous for the entertainers who have been members over the years, including such notables as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Jack Benny, Groucho Marx, Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal.

We had Directors, Actors, and cinematographers all present to showcase their films and creativity.  This event turned out to be a great place to network with up and coming people in the industry.

The Friars film review even had a special treat!  The world premier of The Confession!  David Kebo "Film School in a Box" Won the coveted best Film Award at our premier.  Keep up the good work and we hope to see more original concept films in the future.  Head Count Cinema would also like to congratulate Ranson Riggs. His USC thesis film "Spaceboy" won the award for best short film.  Keep your eyes on this creative genius.

Honorable mention for film shorts goes to: Stanley Kubrick "Gas Mask Films" Fruit.  Their creative use of an Allegory was topnotch.  Steve Barr "SoCal Films" Quiet.  This short film's creative use of sound was the topic of discussion during our intermission.

Honorable mention for films goes to: Pedro Flores "P.D. Flo Productions" Thai Smile.  Their use of humor in outlandish situations with a twist was something else to see.  Slater Kane "Megalomania Films" In The Dark.  Keep your eyes on this team.  They may be redefining standards in the horror film industry.

Head Count Cinema will be hosting their next Friars Film Review on January 10th, 2007 at 7:00 pm. This event will be reserved for film shorts.  Prizes and awards will be presented at the end of the presentation.  Submit your shorts now to make sure you get into our next event.

As you all may or may not know, Head Count Cinema screened Michael Cory Davis' film "Svetlana's Journey" at our festival in Lakewood, CA. on 07/24/05. We awarded the actress Violeta Markovska the Best Actor award that night for her compeling role as Svetlana. We are pleased to announce that the film has gone on to win yet another award in Hollywood, CA. and with good reason. It is shot and colored beautifully in HD, directed with great care and the performances are gripping to say the least. It's edgy and makes no apologies as to the graphic nature of the subject matter of human trafficking. Congratulation Mike!!!!
