HAITI Challenge Match

Help us double the impact of our work in Haiti!

The deadline for our Matching Gift Challenge has been extended until midnight November 15th, so you have one more chance to help us meet the match!

One of our most generous sponsors has pledged $100,000 in support of our work in Haiti, one of the world's poorest countries. We're asking our friends like you to help us match this pledge dollar-for-dollar so that we can reach even more of the working poor with our life-changing Village Banking loans.

So if you haven't already, make a generous contribution today.

FINCA Mexico: Stories of Hope ,” a moving new documentary, features Golden Globe Award winner Natalie Portman—FINCA’s Ambassador of Hope —visiting clients of the FINCA program in Mexico to learn of their struggles, triumphs, and determination to craft a better future for their families. The film was directed by Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize-winning documentary director Juan Carlos Rulfo.

Ms. Portman, who also serves as a co-chair of the
Village Banking Campaign , created the film to offer FINCA supporters a more in-depth view of a program in action and open a window into the daily lives of FINCA clients.  Don’t miss her Web diaries  in which she talks about her trip to Mexico and shares her views about the power of microfinance to change lives."

Honduras is one of the 21 developing countries where FINCA operates, and we are monitoring closely the current crisis there. According to the most recent update we received from our regional director, all of our offices are open, and the situation in Honduras is relatively calm at the moment.
"There have been only two difficult days, including the violence this past Sunday at the Tegucigalpa airport, however, our operations have not been affected. There were threats recently by Zelaya supporters that they would essentially try to shut down the country - closing major highways, etc - but they have put these actions on hold for the moment as the two parties have expressed a willingness to negotiate. Oscar Arias, president of Costa Rica, will lead negotiations and we are hopeful that this situation will be resolved in the very near future."- Phil Broughton, Regional Director FINCA Latin America ( Click here to go to the FINCA Latin America page
