Alrighty Folks...it's Becky coming to you live from Fido's Coffee Shop on Hillsboro Road in Nashville, TN.  I've got my Berry Blast Naked juice and a bagel and I'm ready to take on the world!  Emily, Joanna, and I just got out of a meeting at our label and WE ARE PUMPED!!  So so so many exciting things coming up in the world of Carter's Chord.  As many of you know, we have been taking this last year to do a lot of writing and recording...trying to really perfect our craft and zero in on what we are about as a band.  We have had a whirlwind of a year...performing around the country....hanging in the studio with Toby...doing charity work...singing everywhere from Atlanta Braves games to The Breeders Cup.  It's been both a taxing and rewarding year for each of us. Well...it looks like we are getting ready to see all that hard work pay off and we can't wait!

Mark your calendars!!  2010 is gonna be a big year for Carter's Chord.  We are thrilled to announce that we have a new single that is going to be hitting the airwaves at the beginning of the year.  The song is called "You Knock Me Out" and our plan is just that.  We want to knock down doors all over the country with our music.  Next week, we are hopping on a plane to California to start a radio tour.  We're going to be traveling all over the country visiting our friends at radio and bringing our new music to them.  We can't wait.  So get ready...hopefully we'll be heading to a town near you soon!

We are also very excited about a show that we have coming up in Nashville, TN on December 2nd.  This year our hearts felt moved to begin working with an amazing organization called Compassion International.  Compassion makes it their mission to free children from poverty in all corners of the world.  We had the priviledge of traveling to Guatemala in September to see how Compassion operates in that country.  To say the trip was life changing would be an understatement.  We were overwhelmed by the human spirit and the way that God provides for children in need.  Our eyes were really opened to the global food crisis that is gripping the world right now.  After returning home we decided that we want to do everything we can to spread the word.  On Wednesday, December 2nd at Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN we will be participating in a benefit concert.  The cost is $10 at the door and the money is going towards Compassion's effort in the Global Food Crisis.  More artists are to be announced soon but so far other acts participating will be:  Julie Roberts, Bryan White, Blaine Larsen, Rob Blackledge, Mica Roberts, and many others.  It's going to be an amazing night of music, Christmas cheer, and philanthropy.  If you are going to be in the Nashville area, we would LOVE for you to come spend the evening with us.  More information about Compassion can be found at www.compassion.com

I could go on and on and on about everything we have coming up...(and believe me...I'm an oldest child so I can babble and dominate a conversation...just ask Emily and Joanna)...but what I am going to say is this...If you want to keep up to date with Carter's Chord please become our fan on
Facebook (www.facebook.com/..carterschordmusic) or follow us on Twitter (our profile name is CartersChord).  We have up to the minute updates as well as funny rants...and Joanna's occasional random thoughts.  We want you in the loop!!  Stay tuned as well for information about an exclusive opportunity for die-hard Carter's Chord fans.  It's called the "First 5000"...more details to come VERY SOON.

Hope everyone is having an amazing Fall!

Carter's Chord Races Out Of The Gate With USO-Sponsored Breeders' Cup Performance Band Kicks Off Busy Holiday Season With Two Christmas Songs And Numerous Appearances NASHVILLE—Country trio Carter's Chord has been selected to perform the national anthem at the Breeders' Cup World Championships November 6. Their performance will be part of the USO-sponsored opening ceremonies at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif. The Breeders' Cup is Thoroughbred racing's most prestigious global event. This year's races will be televised live on ABC and ESPN and in more than 130 countries outside the United States. For the first time in the 26-year history of the event, the Breeders' Cup has partnered with the USO to host 350 American service members and their families for a day of fun. That event kicks off a busy holiday season schedule for Carter's Chord, who record for the Show Dog Nashville label. Next week, they are sending a special holiday card to country radio, which contains two Christmas favorites performed by the band: "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "Santa Baby." The card will also give radio programmers a preview of their upcoming single, "You Knock Me Out," which will be shipping to country stations in January. The band will be visiting and performing for country radio stations throughout November and December. The group, which comprises singer/songwriter siblings Becky, Emily and Joanna Robertson, will be participating in a Dec. 2 Nashville event to help raise money for Compassion International, a child development ministry they wholeheartedly support. The charity works on behalf of the world's poorest children in 25 countries to help release them from poverty. The Nashville gathering will raise money and awareness of the food crisis in Guatemala. In September, the sisters visited Guatemala on behalf of Compassion International, meeting with families in their homes, visiting staff and volunteers at child development centers and distributing food. On Dec. 4 they will spread some early holiday cheer in Music City by appearing in the 57th annual Nashville Christmas parade. And on Dec. 11, the group will perform a holiday show at Fort Campbell in Kentucky for U.S. troops and their families stationed there. ABOUT CARTER'S CHORD Carter's Chord released their critically acclaimed debut album last year on Show Dog Nashville, and have recently been in the studio working on new material with their producer and mentor Toby Keith, who is also the label's proprietor. Carter's Chord toured nationwide in support of the album, performing with Keith, Montgomery Gentry and Trailer Choir, among others. The group actually made its major label debut as children, singing on Waylon Jennings' 1998 country album for kids, "Cowboys, Sisters, Rascals & Dirt." They also performed with Jennings on a number of TV shows. Their parents, Barny and Carter Robertson, toured with Jennings during the height of the Outlaw movement. The sisters' inevitable immersion in music led them to Nashville, where Keith was one of many instant fans drawn in by their unique sibling harmony and accomplished stage performances. -30-

Hey Y'all!!!

We have exciting news in the world of Carter's Chord. We were honored to be asked by the executives at Lifetime Television to write the Theme Song for their "Every Woman Counts" campaign. "Every Woman Counts" is a campaign dedicated to encouraging women to vote and get involved in this upcoming election season. Not only did we write the song, but we are serving as spokespersons for the campaign. During our tour and concert stops, we will help spread the word and encourage young women to register to vote.

Lifetime is also hosting a Bus Tour that will be traveling to several different cities across the country. The first tour stop is TOMORROW in Nashville. The bus will be parked near the Country Music Hall of Fame. We will be on hand to talk with people and spread the word about this important campaign.

Check out the website here for more details:

http://www.mylifetime.com/community/my-lifetime-commitment/ewc/2008-bus-tour

Once the page opens, you can click on the right hand side where it says "Carter's Chord" and you can hear the whole theme song in it's entirety!

Hope to see ya out on the road!!

Hey Ya'll!

We just wrapped up the second weekend of Toby Keith's Biggest and Baddest tour. Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows in West Palm, Tampa, and Charleston! We had an absolute blast and it was wonderful to meet so many of you!

On a funny note...I (Becky) have now joined the club of folks who have tripped on stage while performing!! I am surprised that it hasn't happened earlier than this...anyone who knows me well knows that I am not the most "graceful" person in the world. So it doesn't come as any surprise that last night in Charleston, SC as we were walking off stage and I was waving and smiling at the audience...my heel got caught in several cables and I did a face plant on the side of the stage!!! No injuries...just a new hole ripped in my jeans. So for those of you at the show in Charleston...if you happened to catch my fall..you witnessed a true "Different Breed Moment"!!

Get ready West Coast! The Toby tour picks back up on July 10th in Phoenix! Hope to see you guys there!

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

Hey Ya'll!

Hope life is treating you well. We can't believe it is already May! The past few months have really flown by for us. We wanted to let everyone know that next week marks a really exciting event for us! Our second single "Different Breed" will offically be out on the radio beginning Monday, May 12th!! For those of you who have seen us live, you know that Different Breed is exactly that...a "different breed" of country music. This song was written by all three of us and it is definitely our "baby". Different Breed embodies everything we are as Carter's Chord. It can be an anthem for anyone out there who feels like they are a little different.

The day we wrote this song we were on our way up to our Writing Room and we got stuck in an elevator (which by the way is Becky's biggest fear). So we had plenty of time to discuss what we wanted to write about that day. Growing up with our parents being musicians, we always felt a little different from the norm. This day in particular however, I think one of us had run into an ex-boyfriend with their "perfect" new girlfriend and we were venting about how we are SO NOT THAT GIRL! We try but we are far from the girls who have everything together all the time. We think a lot of people can relate to this song. The groove on "Different Breed" is a bluesy, smokey sound that encompasses our favorite musical styles. We are so excited that this song will make it's debut into the marketplace next week.

But...WE NEED YOUR HELP!! We believe in "Different Breed" so much and we need all the support we can get. Call your local radio stations next week and request the song...Tell all your friends that "Different Breed" will be available for download on itunes beginning later this week...Crank it up in your car and roll the windows down...Start your own Carter's Chord Street Team (see our blog about that) or join a local one in your area...We want everyone to be involved in starting our "Different Breed" movement! Be as creative as you want!

We are overwhelmed by the support we have had so far with our fans. We are really excited about what this Summer has in store for Carter's Chord!!

Love ya'll!

We’re on a plane headed for North Carolina to do a radio show right now. Traveling always makes me a little delirious, so I’m a little out of it, and I can write whatever I want in these blogs. Traveling, delirium, blogging, and me. Interesting combination. This is gonna be fun.

I feel like talking about Soulja Boy. If you haven’t seen the video of me doing the Soulja Boy dance, it’s on our YouTube channel and our Myspace. Still not quite sure what "crank that soulja boy" means, but I’m pretty sure it’s something inappropriate. I have to give a shout out to my friend Maria for teaching it to me. Without you, I, a skinny girl wearing leggings and "Robin Hood Boots" as my friends call them, would not be all over YouTube and Myspace doing this glorious dance. So for that, I thank you. Alright, I know Soulja Boy is like, so last month. Let’s move on.

In case you haven’t heard, this past February, we had the privilege of being an opening act for Toby Keith on a quick tour consisting of 7 dates in the northeast. I think I had the time of my life in those seven days. And the best part is, we get to do this all summer. A basic synopsis of the week is:
hanging out with amazing people, performing music with amazing people, eating good food, staying up late, and sleeping in till noon. And that’s gonna be my job this summer. Yep. I think I’m okay with that. Performing in front of a crowd of thousands of people is one of the biggest rushes I’ve ever experienced. And what goes on backstage is pretty fun too. We share a bus with our label mates, Tralier Choir, and our band. Shout out to Trailer Choir!! These guys are awesome. Check ’em out on Mypsace. All in all, there are ten of us sharing one bus. I thought that, since I can be quite the introvert, it would be difficult for me to share one bus with ten people, the only personal space being my bunk. But to my surprise, I preferred to be sharing space with those people as opposed to having alone time. (Ask me how I feel at the end of the tour) It’s like summer camp! Summer camp...with bus parties. One of my favorite bus party memories is Emily calling our Dad (Barny) at 2 am to tell him "Dad, you’re the ’shiz’"! (incorporate choice word there) And yelling back to our guitar and bass players, "guys, isn’t Barny the shiz?" They agreed. And our Dad pretty much is the shiz.

On our dressing room door, there is a piece of paper posted that reads "Hotties". We share a dressing room with our beautiful and talented label mates, Chrystal Hoyt from Trailer Choir, and Mica Roberts. We have nicknamed this dressing room the Self Esteem Room. Starting out just at the door, you can see how this room lives up to its nickname. You walk in, immediately greeted as a "Hottie", (thanks to the piece of paper posted on the door) and as you get ready, everyone around you is showering you with compliments, saying "that outfit is hot!" "you look gorgeous!" "you have perfect hair!" To every girl out there, I think you all need to spend some time in a self esteem room. It’s good for you. I could have about seven zits on my face and a bad hair day, and I’m still being told "Oh my Gosh you’re gorgeous!!" It’s great. Girl power. And you know, every girl out there has a bit of a hottie in them. And with that last sentence, I have officially made this blog dorky.

And now moving on to more important things...I was very pleased to find that Toby’s catering services on the tour are delicious. You see, Carter’s Chord takes food very seriously. When we’re hungry, we mean business. I know what you’re thinking. And YES. WE DO EAT. ALOT. I can’t tell you how many times people look at my small frame and ask "do you eat??" The answer is yes. I eat. All three of us eat. And we eat too much sometimes. Just thought I’d clear the air. Whew. That was awkward. So catering is our new friend. I think my favorite part of the day on the Toby tour is waking up, walking to catering, all of us in our pjs, no makeup, and eating breakfast together. It’s like we’re all a big family. Because, you know...breakfast in your pajamas clearly says family, right?

Good times.

Oh and btw...Carter’s Chord is planning on taking over YouTube. Just a little heads up. That’s all for now kids.
