Working on the assumption that end of October night weather will be a bit too chilly for navigating the fretboards, we played our final Last Thursday on Alberta for the year. It's a been a fun run playing on the corner of 30th and Alberta for the last three months and we look forward to the return of playable weather next year. Here was our set (reconstructed from memory):
Iko Iko When I Paint My Masterpiece What You Did * Norwegian Wood Shady Grove Red Haired Boy Everybody Knows Bird in the House Harvest Moon Talkin' Going to Alaska Blues Friend of the Devil The Weight Another Bend in the Road * Me & My Uncle Ne'erdowell Blues * St. James Infirmary Backroads of Life * On the Road Again Just Like Shakespeare * Wander *

Well, it was a splendid night on Alberta St. last night after an inauspicious start, marred by confusion between Portland Police and Portland sound ordinance enforcers and compounded by an errant (and apparently impaired) driver crashing through the street barricades and coming to a stop right on the spot we were supposed to be setting to play on. Those minor mishaps aside, once we finally did start playing, it had cooled down pleasantly and the street jammed up with the usual assortment of Alberta St. revelers and merry-makers. Mandolin pickin' Steve joined us again, and a good time was had by all. Here was our Set:

It was another fabulous, albeit quite wet at times, weekend at the Becholt ranch for Springfest. Thanks to Syd and Mary for hosting another fun and worthy festival, and thanks to Brent, Josh and all who helped make the sound for all the bands first rate. The sun came out just in time for our two hour set on Sunday. The Iron Man award for the weekend has to go to Scraf Orser, who played a 3-1/2 show with us Friday night, then played with Red Rubber Band and a separate solo set at Springfest. And that was just Saturday! On Sunday, he played a killer 2 hour set with us and was still jammin' on with Cabezon as we hit the road. We were winging it at Springfest, so here is what we played as best as my ever-leakier mind can reconstruct:
Magnolia What You Did * Bird in the House Trouble Way Across the Water * Red Haired Boy Friend of the Devil I Know You Rider Back on the Train Love Supreme Jam Have a Good Time Norman's Song * Ne'erdowell Blues * Playin' in the Jam Another Bend in the Road * The Weight

Wow, what a fun night at Duff's Garage. The Stragglers reunited for their patented blend of high lonesome harmonies and good time acoustic tunes.
