During the election campaign last fall I thought Barack Obama was a person who could be understood and one could expect certain outcomes for his presidency. A this point, he is  riddle wrapped in a puzzle which has no solution, only an ongoing path of confusion as to his ultimate goals. His eloquence invades hearts, lifts spirits, arouses emotions of hope and expectation only to vanish like a bubble pinched that disintegrates into nothing. I constantly pose the question to myself-who is he?

Some men dream dreams, others offer entry into new realms of human existence, but Barack Obama, in the end, allows us to discover dreams that remain unfulfilled. I cried the night he was elected, and now ponder what were my tears about. My tears were for those who struggled to achieve an integrated America and died before we had taken further steps along the road to finally resolving the unfulfilled dream of a society based on equity for all. Barack is a mystery man. Franklin Roosevelt laid his flaws open to scrutiny, a second rate mind who had first rate leadership qualities. John Kennedy understood the value of allowing one's guts to help guide decisions. Barack Obama, when confronted with a crisis, calls meetings, makes plans and focuses on reacting to the need for action. He frequently reminds me of Civil War general George McClellan, who drove Lincoln crazy. He spent months drilling soldiers, devising elaborate plans, micro-managing each detail in order to avoid a mistake. As he dithered Lincoln wanted action.

I recognize Obama took dramatic action in the bailout, but one has to wonder was he bailing out Wall Street or the American working men and women. Yes, he is pushing a health care bill that if it passes will provide health care to millions. Of course, most who will now get health care lack the money to pay for it, let alone pay for the drugs. There are 2,000 pages in this health care bill while the Constitution consists of fewer than fifty pages. Most unemployed people tell me they would much prefer jobs than a health care bill that is of scant benefit to them.

I have yet to witness a passionate outburst from Obama about the NUMBER ONE ISSUE OF THIS SOCIETY-- JOBS. Oops, I forgot, he is calling a meeting next month to discuss jobs. The American people do not need a leader who substitutes meetings for action. Just about every other modern post industrial society has done a better job of dealing with people losing their jobs by providing a financial support system. In America, we are still at the meeting stage of action. Oh, although not invited to the meeting, I can assure one and all as the meeting concludes, the president will announce he has a goal of creating millions of jobs.

Ironically, Barack Obama is among the most intelligent individuals to become president. Unfortunately, a good mind is not as important as leadership or risk taking or placing ordinary Americans at the forefront of being rescued, not Wall Street financiers. I believe his mind is in the right place, I believe he genuinely wants to help all Americans, but in the end there is need for action and challenging those in power. I admit my greatest disappointment is his tendency to placate wealthy people just as he placated Chinese leaders about human rights violations.

Is the Barack Obama problem, he is a nice guy who hates upsetting people with whom he must directly confront? Perhaps, the most striking symbol of the Barack Obama administration was the photo of Michelle Obama handing out food at a food center while she wore $550 sneakers. My comment is snide and petty, but there is something about the mentality of a First Lady who would dress in such a manner when dealing with people who lack food for their daily existence. Michelle Obama is not an Eleanor Roosevelt, that's for sure.

So, who is the real Balrack Obama? I honestly don't know. But, isn't the question, does Barack Obama know who he is?

It is sometimes difficult to ascertain whether Arabs of Jews are the most inept when it comes to securing peace for their people. For half a century, there have been numerous times when peace was possible between the state of Israel and most of its Arab neighbors, but lack of leadership prevented attainment of peace. For example, as recently as 2001 just before Clinton left the presidency he secured agreement from Israel to give Palestinians about 94% of the West Bank in exchange for peace. Yasser Arafat, the leader of Palestinians could not accept the idea of not securing 100% of the West Bank so he turned down the offer. Eventually, Arabs decided to resort to violence in organizing the second intifada to fight against Israel. We know the result of the intifada, the people who most suffered were Palestinians.
For some reason, Arab leaders have paid scant attention to Gandhi or the work of Martin Luther King in obtaining their goals through the means of non-violence. I suspect for all too many Arab nations, "macho man" is their idea of a "hero" and the very idea of allowing those who oppress to beat and arrest you without fighting back goes against their grain. I am convinced if Palestinians adopted the ideas of Martin Luther King and forced Israel police and soldiers to beat them without offering resistance, it would rip through the moral conscience of Israelis and compel a return to honest negotiating. Deep within the psyche of Israelis and Jews is the historical mistreatment and persecution their ancestors endured so the idea of beating up someone who refuses to fight back would tear at the moral foundations of Jews.
If a 100,000 people from all over the world joined Palestinians in peaceful protests from Gaza to the West Bank, the Israel government would have to respond and if it used physical force it would shock American and British Jews leading to an outcry of ending the physical abuse.
As far as I know, Arabs have never given non-violence a trial. Perhaps, if they tried a non-violent protest, it might actually work. What exactly do Palestinians have to lose?

AROUND THE WORLD

I worked at a  Catholic College in the 1960s where the nuns were  excited about the work of Pope John XXIII and believed the Catholic Church was on the verge of historical changes including marriage for priests and nuns. Fast forward fifty years and  the Catholic Church is denying Communion to Catholics like the Kennedy family as well as Joe Biden. Is it a matter of time before American Catholics finally decide to organize an American Catholic  Church and allow Catholics to live a 21st century life?

I was shocked to read a new report, "Violence Against Women IN Turkey" which states one in ten Turkish women are physically assaulted while pregnant and one out of three is physically attacked by a husband or boy friend  resulting in an attempt at suicide. The list goes on and on. I have never been able to comprehend the concept of male violence toward women.

Obama visited China, gave the "speech" about human rights, and left. The next day a Chinese court sentenced Huang Qi to a three year jail term for seeking to uncover faulty housing construction which led to the death of thousands of school children during the earthquake of 2008. I am not blaming Obama. American politicians love "the speech" which is ordinarily given to college students who listen politely. The American leaves and human rights activists remain to be sent to jail. How about no more of "the speech" attempts.

The Attorney General of Afghanistan is threatening to indict two members of the Cabinet on charges of corruption. I have a hunch this will be a "news story" that lasts about two days.

This past weekend I was reading several books dealing with early American history and once again I am reminded a major problem in this nation is failure to teach American history. The result is Republicans, gun control fanatics and whoever continually repeat slogans they believe relate to the past despite any semblance of knowledge about what happened in the history of this nation. Robert Leckie's wonderful military history, "From Sea To Shining Sea" depicts the complete incompetence of the militia that contemporary gun supporters cite as a reason why ordinary Americans must possess guns in order to protect our liberties. I can not go into detail, but Leckie rips apart the incompetent militia during the Revolution and the War of 1812, let alone their cowardly behavior in so many
units. Rioting, drinking, and disobeying orders were their main contribution to the War of 1812, George Washington's constant problem were the militia units who he detested and thought completely ineffective and dreamed of one day actually having an army of trained professionals. If the  rationale for owning guns is the performance of militia in our history, Congress within 24 hours should ban private ownership of guns.
How does one respond to the Palin mentality that America was founded on opposition to big government? Huh? Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams and so on wanted to end the debacle of states rights as exemplified by the Articles of Confederation and create a strong national government. Why do you morons think there was a CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION-- to attack Big Government!! Make a list of what BIG GOVERNMENT DID FOR AMERICA
 National highways
Canals
Transcontinental railroad
Tariffs to protect business
Preservation of our national forests
Internet
Air planes
GI Bill of Rights which revolutionized college education
Depression programs like WPA, CCC, which built hospitals, schools, eliminated drought, etc..
FDIC, Social Security, An end to lynching, right to vote for all Americans, etc..
NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE FOR THE ELDERLY, VETERANS, MEMBERS OF CONGRESS, ETC.. But, God forbid, we should give ALL AMERICANS THESE RIGHTS!!

Every idiot who wants to rant and rave against BIG GOVERNMENT  should be required by law to read a history of America. AND GUN CONTROL ADVOCATES WHO BELIEVE IN THE MILITIA CONCEPT SHOULD BE COMPELLED TO STUDY THE HISTORY OF MILITIA IN OUR WARS!!

A half century ago, historian Richard Hofstadter wrote a seminal book entitled, "The Paranoid Style in American Politics' which traced the ongoing examples in our nation's history of paranoia engulfing public opinion and leading to the Tea Party outbursts we currently are witnessing. Sarah Palin is simply a new example of frightening the population with tales of "those people" trying to take over "our country." Palin plays to the rustic mythology of America which functions on the proposition that those raised in rural areas of the nation have not been contaminated by the large city "foreign influences" that corrupt our youth and destroy the moral fabric of our nation. If Sarah had been around in the sixties she would be leading the fight to cut hair of any boy who had the audacity to wear his hair long or in a pony tail. Of course, today, the rustic male folk wander around high on marijuana and twirling their pony tails. Isn't it quaint that a woman who wants childen to "just say no" to sex prior to marriage has a young mother on her hand and Mom Sarah has banned the father from seeing his child. I assume this is simply upholding moral standards.
Hofstadter's book describes the anti-Catholic paranoia which swept America during most of the 19th century in reaction to Protestant hatred of Catholics, particularly, the savage drunken Irish who were pouring into American cities. Gee, if Sarah was around in 1846 she would be wandering the nation warning about priests seducing nuns in the evil monasteries. Or, if she was in rural America in the 1890s, one readily could imagine her hysterical denunciation of "Wall Street" and them "Jews' and "Eyetalians" flooding into our cities bringing crime and filth to the clean world of Protestant America. In Sarah's America, there is always, "them people" and "we Americans" even as she preaches the need to instill patriotism in the country!
If an intelligent idea about economics or world affairs entered her mind it would die of loneliness. She is against 'government dictating medical treatment" even as she insists the government can not allow abortion treatment. Her solution to any economic problem is "cutting taxes." Yeah, cutting taxes when the deficit is over a trillion dollars. But, to the paranoid speaker, the only concern is wiping out "evil" on the assumption if "evil people" are gone then prosperity and joy will return to America. You see, that is what God wants, -low taxes and no 'furriners" in this country.
Should we take her seriously? Not really. I have yet to hear her pronounce a single economic solution that would help this nation. She lacks an economic or foreign policy program other than telling us what she is against. She wants to end terrorism, but has she ever offered a single idea on how to accomplish that? Sarah is the ultimate con woman, all fluff and no substance. She is to politics what  Bernie Madoff is to economics-- you think he actually explained how to make money, but on reflection realize he said words that seem to express something about the stock market that has the appearance of sense.
So, why does she obtain popularity? Sarah Palin is an instrument of right wing ideologues who use her as a front in order to deflect any serious examination of their programs. Right now, fear is common in this country due to the job situation. I have been constantly stating my concern that Barack Obama has made an historic mistake by not making jobs his Number One concern!! Sorry, Barack, Jobs not health care is what most frightens Americans today. By not taking dramatic action for jobs, he allows the  Sarah Palins an audience among the frightened of this nation.

The story of Hillary Clinton has gotten lost in the madness which has swept the right wing of America,  but, believe it or not, she is the Secretary of State. One moment she is hopping over to Turkey to persuade the Armenians and Turks to settle differences, the next day she is in some place in Africa supporting the rights of women to equity. She is on the airplane so often one can only wonder what Bill does in his lonely nights alone with his body and no warmth in the house. In one sense, Hillary Clinton is an activist Secretary of State, but, in another sense, she some times comes across as a sacrificial lamb for Barack Obama. Until about three weeks ago, Hillary stood up to Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu by making clear she wanted an end to further housing on the West Bank, then, out of the blue, ten days ago, she praised him to high heaven for "slowing down." NOT ENDING, settlement building on the West Bank. The Israel right wing praised her-- until the next day when she realized her blunder had infuriated Arab nations and she retracted her statement. But, lost in this goof was the fact that President Obama had been opposed to further West Bank construction until he backed away from that strong stand. In other words, Hillary supported the boss man, he came out smelling like a rose while she came across as incompetent. Is it any surprise he gets the prize and she gets the short end of the stick.
But, also lost is another reality. Although Hillary Clinton is the  Secretary of State and supposedly the chief architect of foreign policy, President Obama has appointed special envoy Richard Holbrooke to oversee Afghanistan, Dennis Ross to handle Iran and George Mitchell to deal with the Palestine-Israel conflict. In other words, the three wise men get the glory if something good emerges and the little lady gets to eat crow for the mistakes of her boss. Hillary Clinton is a loyal individual who takes the flack for Obama, too bad the loyalty is not rewarded with additional power.

AROUND THE WORLD

Over fifty years ago, President Dwight Eisenhower(who was a key general in World War II) warned America about the dangers of an emerging military-industrial complex. Two days ago USA Today issued a report about retired  generals and admirals who are making millions after they retire serving as "senior mentors" for corporations who do business with the Defense Department. Naturally, an admiral who worked in navy aviation now receives thousands of dollars to advise his former subordinates why it is important to purchase weapons from the company he now represents. Something is rotten in the state of America.

A study in Australia reveals that two-thirds of students in school are the victims of racism, but the main target are immigrants from Africa or India or the Middle East. When it comes to racism, there are no borders strong enough to keep it out.

A few months ago in Sweden, a gang of forty Swedish students surrounded an apartment house which is the home of refugees from iraq, thew rocks and bottles at the people and forced the police to evacuate their homes. Two girls were charged with a crime. My question is-- shouldn't the crowd be evacuated, not the victims?

If the Turkish people don't watch out they will wind up becoming honorary citizens of Texas. Just like our beloved Texans, they enjoy treating teenagers like adult criminals and even sentencing them to death for crimes that do not involve murder. Also,we Americans had better watch out because the Turks will soon pass us and have a lower rate of child mortality. Oh well, who needs low cost national health insurance, isn't it better to rank toward the bottom in infant mortality?

I simply cannot bring myself to watch Sarah Palin on Oprah or wherever. If she ever stated an intelligent idea it would die of loneliness during the trip from her lips to the first breath of fresh air.

I teach several classes in education for those entering the teaching profession which puts me in daily contact with many young people in their twenties. They are intelligent, nice, hard working individuals who wish to become good teachers. In some respects they are a well educated generation and have access through Internet to the entire planet. However, this is a  Dreamless Generation willing to accept what is without any thought of what could be.

they are planet Earth people content to reside on this war-torn violent world since they assume this is all that is possible on Earth. This is not a generation that would feel uplifted  by John Kennedy's dream of a Peace Corps or ensuring a man walked on the Moon by th end of the decade. Their lives are not in the stars but in bed rock Earth. Yesterday, I shared my enthusiasm for the discovery of water on the Moon and was met with indifferent stares of disinterest. For them, science fiction focuses on violence and aliens killing and murdering.

Perhaps, one can accept the inability to dream about world lying beyond the horizon, but few of these students have any dreams about creating a new America  based on justice and the right of all citizens to enjoy healthy and meaningful lives. There are 12 million unemployed and 45 million without health care, but when I discuss economic reality in class, particularly lack of jobs in the field of education, many complain about my "negative attitude" and why can't I tell them about positive things. They lack a sense of being linked to those who are oppressed since their basic feeling revolves around their independent selves.

They are among the most narcissistic generations in American history. They can not grasp the concept that America can be revamped and made into a society in which all humans enjoy basic human rights of employment, health, free education, and social justice that ends discrimination. If you posed to them how they could restructure American society to achieve such ends there would be silence. They accept the basic tenets of capitalism even though increasingly it is clear we need to rethink the meaning of capitalism for the 21st century. However, if you asked them to discuss what they seek in their personal lives, they would talk.

The other day I was chatting with a manager of a Firestone store. He said: 'maybe, this recession is a good thing for people my age. It makes you think about  what happened and why it happened and how to make certain it doesn't happen again." This man has entered the initial stage of being radicalized by the recession. The Dreamless Generation lives in the present, lacks any knowledge of the past and absolutely no dreams about the future.

It becomes increasingly clear a hope that Barack Obama could inspire youth as did Franklin Roosevelt or John Kennedy is not happening. Obama's eloquence is a strength which got him through the primaries and the presidential race, but his refusal to engage in passionate action to deal with immediate needs of the unemployed is turning off people. FDR took office in March, 1933 and within several months over two million were working at building bridges, hospitals, schools, clearing the forest and  planting trees to help avoid another drought. Being engaged in productive work gave meaning to people who had lost hope they would ever again have work meaning in their lives. Imagine being a musician now performing in Grand Central Station every  day and sharing your love of music with the average person or a writer engaged in wring about the lives of people, or a member of a revolutionary theater group!

As an educator I am shocked the Obama-Secretary of Education Arne Duncan- eduction plan is to raise test scores? Isn't this time for bold thinking? Isn't this time to address the Dreamless Generation and have them create an education process geared to 21st century life? Isn't this time to have small research laboratories scattered around the nation with the task of inventing new products? Isn't this time to create a 21st century transportation system that ends dependance on gasoline? Instead we have a Secretary of Education who thinks testing children about a nineteenth century education model somehow prepares them for life in the 21st century!

Barack Obama has yet to display passion toward the needs of those who are economically facing a life without meaningful work. Is it any wonder that if the president lacks dreams, we should expect young people to become a Dreamless Generation?
Ask the average American-- and i do not mean Tea Party ranters-- who has a higher priority for Barack Obama-- wealthy financiers or the  unemployed and the vast majority will respond-- the wealthy!!

We stand on the threshold of inventing a new economic system that will end the tyranny of unemployment. We stand on the threshold of creating a new America based on equity and respect for the right of all to enjoy lives that have meaning. We stand on the threshold of inspiring youth with the dream of venturing beyond the stars on the journey to encounter our fellow life forms wherever they may be in the universe. This will not occur if Barack Obama continues displaying fluff rather than inspiring leadership that goes beyond words into actions. Only such leadership will create a Generation of Dreamers who see things that no one has yet to see or experience.

There are 12 million unemployed people in the United States but to Glenn Beck, Rush, and Bill Bennett the real issue confronting the nation is should our president bow when meeting the emperor of Japan! According to Dr. Bill Bennett, author of books on history and philosophy, "we don't defer to emperors. We don't defer to kings or emperors." No sirre, we are God fearing Americans and we stand up to any king or emperor and let them know that America may be having an economic collapse, but that is certainly not the most important issue facing this nation. William Kristol of the Weekly Standard believes the reason for America's economic decline is due to our president who has  become  overly-deferential to foreign leaders. This is the same Bill Kristol who hailed George Bush for invading Iraq despite UN reports there were no WMD in Iraq. Kristol hailed Bush for standing tall in the face of a bunch of foreigners who wanted to take the coward's way out and conduct more investigations of the supposed WMD.
Do you ever wonder who the hell are these nut cases who actually believe a president bowing to a Japanese emperor is the first step in the decline of America as a superpower. I hate to tell this people, but due to economic policies supported by Kristol and Bennett of cutting taxes on the wealthy, this nation's economy was endangered. I hate to point out to these supposed intellectual gurus but spending nearly a trillion dollars fighting wars when there was no reason to fight them helped unbalance our budget. Frankly, I prefer a president who bows rather than one who stands tall for stupidity and shakes hands with the wrong people.
Could someone please explain to me how I got stuck on planet Earth with these nut cases. Have you ever heard Fox News or Beck or Limbaugh or Bill Kristol go wild at the fact there are 12 million unemployed? Every so often I wish these jerks could take over the American government and run this nation into complete economic collapse. Perhaps then , the American people will wake up to the fact they have an infrastructure which has fallen behind most nations, they have a health insurance policy that makes a mockery of fiscal responsibility, let alone dealing with the nation's economic needs.
PLEASE ALIENS, WHEREVER YOU ARE SEND A SPACE SHIP AND GET ME OUT OF THE NUT WARD KNOWN AS THE UNITED STATES!!
DOWN WITH THE BOWING AND UP WITH THE HANDSHAKE! OR SHOULD I SAY, UP WITH THE BOWING AND DOWN WITH THE HANDSHAKE?

AROUND THE WORLD

A new report coming from the World Food Summit reveals there are up to 49 million Americans who depend on food aid in order to live. About one in five American children lives in a  home where hunger is known and 1.1 million have ongoing hunger. Last year, 4.8 million Americans resorted to private food pantries in order to live. Aren't we happy to live in capitalist America which allows such hunger??

New reports indicate Major Hasan was classified by his supervisors as a mediocre student and a lazy worker. Given  these evaluations is it any wonder he was promoted? Anyone reading these words is in an organization where such people as Hasan thrive and are never fired.

British foreign secretary David Miliband offers some intelligent advice. He suggests reaching out to Taliban leaders who are willing to dump the fanatic Taliban and be given power and responsibility in a new Afghan government. Of course, this would mean dumping President Karzai and shifting from a centralized to a decentralized Afghan government in which local tribal leaders exert power. Of course, this would also relieve the need for thousands of more US troops in Afghanistan. Makes sense to me

During his initial several months as president, Barack Obama sent a message to the Muslim world and people of the Middle East that he wanted a fair peace that both respected rights of Israel to security and the right of Palestinians to have their own country. Who can forget Obama's famous speech in Cairo which was welcomed by Arabs throughout the region as the harbinger of a new American policy of fairness. Since then, what has happened? Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyaju has refused to engage in any meaningful negotiations even though for the first time in the history of Israel the Arab people want peace and a new venture in cooperation. In reality, Netanyahu has  called every bluff by Obama for an end to housing settlements in the West Bank and everytime he refuses to do anything,  Clinton and Obama try to placate this man. Two weeks ago, Clinton even praised Netanyahu for agreeing to slow down housing settlements and hailed this as an historic step toward peace! Hu! He is going to slow down, not end the illegal construction of settlements and our Secretary of State and president hail his courage.
Palestinian leaders have come to the sad conclusion that Obama speaks with a forked tongue and have turned to the European Union and asked it to recognize the government of Palestine. This action infuriated Israel leaders and they warned Israel might take even more of the West Bank. Israel construction in the West Bank is illegal.
Why do Obama and Clinton refuse to stand up to the bullies who run Israel? Bu refusing to take a stand such as --end all aid to Israel, refuse to have any military cooperation, and make clear the US will cease vetoing UN Security Council resolutions against Israel.
I am left to wonder why Obama will not take a stand. Just about every survey of American Jews indicates a majority supports the idea of a Palestinian state. So, why the refusal to stand for the rights of Palestinians?
Does anyone know--WHO IS THE REAL BARACK OBAMA AND DOES HE STAND FOR ANYTHING?

AROUND THE WORLD

Geert Wilders, a fanatic anti-Muslim leader in the Netherlands is on his way to become the next prime minister of Holland. He wants to ban sale of the Koran on grounds it is just like Hitler's Mein Kampf and to make clear the Muslim religion is not a religion but a fascist organization. Ah, the joy of democracy.

The Swedish town of Landskrona has made clear to immigrants they can only use public facilities once a month for wedding ceremonies because they "throw cake on the floor" and make noise during a wedding.

Colonel Gaddafi, son of the ruler of Libya arrived in Rome and asked an Italian hospitality agency to round up 500 beautiful Italian girls, pay them about $100 for a night out and have them come to his party. Much to the surprise of the attractive women who were informed no plunging necklines or revealing dresses, the "party" consisted of listening to the colonel recite for two hours the virtues of the Muslim religion and warn them to abandon Christianity.

Do you ever get the sense planet Earth is headed by some weird people?

Having nothing better to do with my life, I set about exploring several sites which provide evidence that Barack Obama and Nidal Hasan are collaborators in the plot to destroy America. My initial reaction was, "not another conspiracy theory," but upon reflection, it increasingly became clear where there is smoke there must be fire. I decided to use my analytical mind and set about discovering if there was any truth to the claim that Hasan and Obama were conspirators. Let me submit my evidence to the world and allow intelligent beings to reach their own conclusion as to whether or not Nidal Hasan and Barack Obama are allies in the fight by terrorists to destroy America.
1. They both have weird first names, Nidal and Barack. Come on, is it a coincidence that  these men both do not have decent Christian-- or Jewish-names?
2.  Note that both names have two "a" letters in their name. Is that a coincidence?
3.  Nidal Hasan was in Washington D.Ç. at the same time that Barack Obama was in Washington D.C. Again, simply a "coincidence?"
4. Hasan is heavy set and Obama is of slight build. If you wanted to send two spies to commit terror wouldn't you want two men of different physical builds?
5.  Barack Obama was born in Kenya-that's why he doesn't have a birth certificate. Hasan allegedly was born in Palestine, but I have it from certain unnamed sources that he really was born in Kenya. And, he has yet to produce a birth certificate! Another coincidence?
6.  Hasan was in the medical profession. So, is it a coincidence that Barack Obama has devoted the initial ten months of his administration dealing with the medical profession!
7.  Hasan wants American troops to get out of Afghanistan. Barack Obama wants American troops to get out of Afghanistan. If this isn't proof enough, what is?
8.  Hasan wants US troops out of Iraq. Obama is planning to withdraw US troops from Iraq. Come on, everything just can't be a "coincidence!"
9.  Major Hasan went to peep shows. So, does anyone have any doubts that Obama selected Hillary Clinton for one reason-- so they could have sex in the State Department!
10.  Major Hasan is a Muslim. Everyone who knows anything knows that Barack Obama not only has a Muslim name, but is actually a Muslim. Another "coincidence?"
11.  Nidsal Hasan can't play basketball. Obama can play basketball. Again, never send two terrorists who either look alike or do the same things.
12.  Last, but not least-- Nidal Hasan hates America. Barack Obama hates America! heck he even insulted a policeman. No decent American ever insults a policeman.

From what I have learned from my secret sources, you can expect Barack Obama to use the killings at  Ft. Hood as justification for bringing soldiers back from Afghanistan and use the excuse if they linger too long, they will become homicidal maniacs.
I offer my evidence to a candid world in order to alert one and all that Barack Obama has but one goal-turn America over to Terrorists. He has already begun the program by turning our economy over to "INTELLECTUALS" like Larry Summers.
But, don't despair, our Guardian Angel, the one and only SARAH PALIN, will be riding to the rescue of America and you can bet your last dollar once Sarah gets the power all you gay perverts and abortion supporters will be given a one way ticket back to Russia or China or wherever they enjoy sick individuals. GOD BLESS SARAH, GOD BLESS THE NRA, GOD BLESS THOSE WHO BELIEVE THE POOR ARE POOR  BECAUSE THEY ENJOY BEING POOR.

How about some good news?  Secretary of Defense Robert Gates will not allow photos of American soldiers abusing prisoners because he doesn't want to shock the world. Bobby, keep the photos out of the public arena and no one will  ever know that we Americans abuse prisoners. Frankly, how about arresting those perverts at the American Civil Liberties Union who believe the truth will set us free!

Yesterday's column by Paul Krugman in The New York Times discussed the remarkably successful German plan to avoid job losses by having programs in place that focus on working with employers to avoid having men and women fired. For example, there is the "short-time work scheme" in which the government provides subsidies to businesses which will reduce work hours for workers in order to avoid having people fired. The result is there has been no mass lay-offs in Germany and most people continue working. When Larry Summers, the Obama administration's top economist was asked about using a similar approach in America, he responded; "It may be desirable to have a given amount of work shared among more people. But., that's not as desirable as expanding  the total amount of work." In other words, I'm a Harvard economist and we have nothing to learn from other countries. The only solution is expanding the economy and creating more jobs. However, every indicator suggests this is the first economic recovery which is NOT PRODUCING NEW JOBS! Perhaps, the great Larry Summers is WRONG AND WE MAY WITNESS THE ECONOMY EXPAND WITHOUT EXPANDING THE NUMBER OF JOBS.
Larry Summers exemplifies what is wrong with the Obama administration-- the president has surrounded himself with a host of very "bright people" who are convinced they are "bright" and know the answers to all questions. They have no interest in learning from others because to learn from Germany or France or another country suggests the bright people in the Obama administration may not be as bright as German economists!
Let me not the difference between Franklin Roosevelt and Barack Obama. Yes, FDR hired many bright people-- mainly from Columbia University-- but among his main advisors  was Harry Hopkins, a former social worker. During the early days of the Works Project  Administration(WPA) Hopkins recalls he was chatting with the president and asked how artists, writers, and musicians could be helped. He said the president threw back his hea and said, "throw them into the WPA." From that remark came a new birth of American writers and all aspects of intellectual life. The point I am making is that Hopkins was concerned with people, not just with bankers. Could  you imagine anyone in the Obama administration who would be like Hopkins and actually be concerned that young artists or writers also need assistance?
Oh, I forgot, President Obama is hosting a "Job Forum" in December. Instead of the Job Forum how about sending someone to Germany to learn how they  have avoided mass unemployment?

AROUND THE WORLD

Iraq doctors report a dramatic rise in chronic deformities in infants as well as other medical problems related to the war in Iraq. I am certain Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney sleep well tonight, but thousands of babies will not.

Marie NDiaye won the prestigious French literary prize, the Prix Congourt, but  some members of the French Parliament are angry because she launched into an attack on French President Sarkozy for his hateful laws against immigrants. She was told by MPs that she should show "a certain respect for its(France) institutions."

The most horrible story I came across today is from Saudi Arabia. An Australian woman who converted to the Muslim religion left her abusive husband. She worked as Director of Education at a university. One of her colleagues in order to prevent her from getting in trouble with Saudi law offered to become her guardian, or mahram. The husband then went to religious authorities and showed them evidence that his ex-wife had  made phone calls to Mohammed Ahmed Nagi, the man who was now her guardian. Mr. Nagi received 300 lashes and is in prison and she can't leave the country. I must confess to sometimes being bewildered by the Muslim religion.

Raquel Rolnik, the special UN rapporteur on the right of people to have decent housing just completed her report on the state of homeless people in America. She accused the American government of pouring billions of dollars into rescuing banks and financial institutions while completely ignoring the right of people to decent housing in this country. "The housing crisis is invisible for many in the US. I learned through this visit that real affordable housing and  poverty is something that hasn't been dealt with  as an issue. Even if we talk about the financial crisis and government stepping in in order to promote economic recovery, there is no such help for the homeless." Of course, she could have added there is no help for the unemployed or the under-employed except for vague comments from the Obama administration that once business and banks are OK, the unemployment situation will somehow work itself out. I read Rolnik's report and wondered -- we just elected a man to the presidency who  promised to focus the nation's attention on the economic needs of most Americans instead of worrying about tax cuts for the wealthy and what is the result-- not a damn thing is being done for the unemployed!
As I reflect on the current situation I am reminded about the last time hot shot bright people from the Ivy League took charge of this  country was in the sixties when they gave us the war in Vietnam. Somehow, people like Larry Summers do not impress me as concerned about the unemployed person in Kansas City, let alone our urban centers. Frankly, I am shocked at the failure of President Obama to get on TV and talk to the unemployed of this nation. Sorry, Barack, if your model is Franklin Roosevelt, within five months after taking office about four million unemployed people were working. Instead, during your initial five months, another three or four million lost their jobs.

George Bush cut taxes in order to give the wealthy a larger slice of the American pie. Barack Obama has given a couple of trillion dollars to bankers and financial wizards so they can have a larger slice of the American economic pie. I can even accept providing economic assistance of bankers, but the silence from the White House and his economic advisors about unemployment is deafening! I must admit to being baffled. What do these Ivy League characters think is going to happen in November, 2010? I hate to tell them but people may like Barack Obama,  but they like having a job even more. The only conclusion that makes sense is they are ARROGANT AND BLINDED BY THEIR OWN INTELLIGENCE. They display smugness in believing the American people will stand around waiting for non-existent jobs and still like Barack Obama.
I have a hunch if Joe Biden was in charge, there would be a job push. Step one in getting this country back on the road to prosperity is firing everyone who has an Ivy League degree. Step two is placing in positions of authority old fashioned machine thinking politicians who understand the need to get people working.
My final confession. I have no idea what is in the mind of Barack Obama about the unemployed people of this nation. I do not believe he has an emotional grasp of the fury building in this nation toward Wall Street bankers and financial leaders. It will explode in November, 2010 and the end result will be electing Neanderthal Republicans who are even worse than Ivy League thinkers.

In all honesty, the news is so depressing, who the heck wants to discuss it.  Twelve million unemployed and we are bogged down for a year discussing health care. Heck, iif you don't have a job, how the hell can you afford health care, either by government or by private insurance companies. So, with nothing better to discuss, how about dealing with the pudgy schmuck from southern Missouri- Rush Limbaugh.

Rush never encountered a fact he could not twist into a lie.

He is either a natural born liar, or he acquired the ability due to continual practice.

He has medical insurance and is damn well going to make certain, you don't have it.

Rush is most probably an invention of Osama bin Laden. If he didn't exist, Osama would have to invent him because ignorance is his greatest recruitment device.

I must admit that Rush knows he is lying. That is his greatest virtue.

Rush is the proverbial schoolyard bully.

He has single handedly transformed the Grand Old Party into the Grand Order of Putzes.

Rush is to truth as barry Bonds is to affirming he never used steroids.

Doubt is a stranger who has never knocked on the door of Rush Limbaugh.

Now that President Obama has loused up the Democratic party by failing to develop a job program, the likelihood of a Republican victory in the coming years is more likely. In anticipation of the probability, we provide an insight into the new America.

Emergency wards will be available to anyone who can get to one. If you can't make it to an emergency ward on your own, it is no emergency.

A flat rate tax of 10% will be placed on all incomes, rich and poor alike.

The Individual Rights Amendment will allow any employer to hire or fire anyone he damn well pleases.

Malpractice awards will top out at $10,000.  They will only be available to dead people.

All education grants for college students will cease. Heck, I worked my way through college so why can't you?

Another 100,000 troops will be sent to Afghanistan. Deployment will be reduced to a two week time with the family, then, back to real frighting.

Unemployed people will be urged to write to former president Barack Obama who created unemployment.

From now on, any candidate for the office or president, must provide a Birth Certificate that is notarized and contains the signature of the delivering doctor.

The age of being able to tell the difference between right and wrong will become 10.

All restrictions on carrying weapons into the halls of Congress will end. If you don't like what a congressman is saying, let him have it.

A new required course for all kindergartens will be, "self defense use of guns."

Each state will be granted the right to secede.

All confessions in church will be tape recorded. Anything you say may be held against you in a court of law.

Gays and lesbians will be restricted to living in San Francisco county.

When the topic of Israel and Palestinians is raised, I often feel like a Chicago Cub fan who would have to go back to World War I to  find the last time his beloved Cubs were in a world series. The use of the word, "negotiation" is an oxymoron when it comes to discussing Israel and Palestinians. Israel Prime Minister benjamin Netanyahu made statements yesterday which caused me to wonder if I was on a planet containing intelligent life. Let me present his actual words that he expressed to Palestinian leader, President Abbas:
1.  "We should not place preconditions for holding talks, such preconditions have never been set for 16 years" in referring to Palestinian demands that West Bank construction cease.
2.  "My goal is not negotiations for the sake of negotiations. My goal is to achieve permanent peace."
3.  However, he made clear to Palestinians, "they must abandon the fantasy of flooding Israel with refugees, give up irredentist claims to the Negev and Galilee, and declare unequivocally that the conflict is over."

Am I stupid or isn't his remarks to Palestinians a statement of preconditions??

My suggestion is to send Israel and Palestinian negotiators on an all expense  trip to the Moon where they can sit down and, first discuss how the two groups can live in peace on the Moon. After they have settled that issue, they could move on to Israel, Palestine, the West Bank, and God knows whatever.

The bottom line is there is no desire on the part of the Israel government to enter into negotiations with Palestinians. The other day in The New York times, Thomas Friedman suggested we leave the State Department phone number with both parties and tell them to call when they are serious about negotiations. Taking this step will lead to another Intifada on the part of Palestinians, violence, suicide bombers, rockets, bombing and so on. The people of Israel prefer living in the cellar of fear rather than getting outside and talking with Palestinians who finally want to talk.At this moment in time, Israelis have a sense of being abused by the world which allows them to ignore their abuse of Palestinians.

AROUND THE WORLD

OK, a health care bill passed the House of Representatives. Senator Joe Lieberman announced to the world he will NOT ALLOW a bill to be voted on that has a public option. Isn't it a wonderful country we live in when a single senator can decide what the country can or can not do.

Prime Minister Gordon Brown sent a letter of condolence to a mother of a fallen soldier. He addressed it to: "Dear Mrs. James." Her name is Jacqui Janes. Then he scribbled the name of her son and did not spell it correctly. Oh well, when one is a prime minister one can not always be right.

GOOD NEWS! An American bishop revealed he had prayed to Cardinal John Newman to return his ability to walk. "I said, please Cardinal Newman, help me to walk. Suddenly, I felt a tremendous sense of heat, then a sense of peace and joy. I could walk."
Big deal. I pray each year for the Yankees to win the World Series and one out of four times my prayer is answered. Of course, I have been  praying for thirty years to God or the Devil or whoever is up there for my New York Knicks to win something, but nothing happens. Am I to infer that God is anti-Knick?

What continues to bother me is since there was a Big Bang to begin everything did whatever started the Big Bang have their own Big Bang?
