DEVILS DUE PUBLISHING & CBS CONSUMER PRODUCTS GIVE NEW LIFE TO FAN-FAVORITE TV SERIES JERICHO WITH NEW COMIC BOOK SERIES

CHICAGO - March 5, 2009 - Devil's Due Publishing (DDP) has
announced a deal with CBS Consumer Products to publish a new comic book
series tied to fan-favorite Jericho, the one-hour drama series that
garnered critical acclaim and ran on CBS for two seasons, from
2006-2008. The series centered on the residents of the fictional town
of Jericho, Kansas in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on 23 major
cities in the contiguous United States. The comic book series will pick
up where the television program left off, answering many questions for
its passionate fans. DDP has teamed up with the show's creators and
producers to develop an authentic story that will hit comic book
retailers this fall. Jericho fans are some of the most dedicated in the world of
television. In 2007, devotees to the show produced by CBS Paramount
Network Television rallied together to bring back the fan-favorite
which was initially cancelled after just one season. The show returned
for a seven-episode second season, but was not renewed for a third
season. While fans received a little more closure with the end of
season two, there were still loose ends that could be addressed. "Jericho is alive and well, thanks to the amazing fans who've
driven us to find new and fresh ways to tell the Jericho story," says
Dan Shotz, Co-Executive Producer of Jericho. "Josh Blaylock and the DDP
team are great partners and have shown a true love for our show. We are
so thrilled about this comic book series and the endless possibilities
for the future of Jericho."
Joining Shotz in developing the comic book will be most of the
original creative team including Jon Turteltaub, Carol Barbee, Karim
Zreik, and Jon Steinberg. "I can't tell you how cool it is for DDP to be able to
continue the Jericho story in comic book form," says DDP President Josh
Blaylock. "We plan to give fans the story they've been craving. This is
going to be epic stuff."
About Devil's Due Publishing:

Proliferators of comic culture, Devil's Due Publishing (DDP) is
one of the largest and most established comic book publishers in North
America, carrying a diverse line-up of original, creator-owned and
licensed properties. With offices in Los Angeles and Chicago, DDP has
many projects in development for film and television with major studios
including 20th Century Fox, ABC Family, and Rogue Pictures. DDP's
titles include Drafted, Lost Squad, Sheena, Dungeons & Dragons,
DemonWars, Voltron, Rest, Serpo and the cult-favorite Hack/Slash. The
company recently launched a line of cutting edge designer toys and
lifestyle accessories under the imprint DDPOP.

JERICHO LIVES!

Friday, December 26, 2008

Yep, we're still here!

Merry Christmas Jericho friends and family! John Stahl -  legal writer, computer instructor, avid TV watcher and fellow Ranger, gives us a few holiday chuckles.

--

In thinking of a holiday gift for my fellow 'Jericho' rangers, I determined that a list of alternative concepts for the show that CBS would likely accept would hopefully bring a smile to their faces and those of the rest of you.

1. "CSI: Jericho" Jake gets trained as a forensics expert and returns to Jericho to solve murders in this no longer serene community.

2. "Survivor: Jericho" a group of contestants compete to survive in a community that a nuclear attack has devastated; each week, someone gets voted off and must move to New Bern.

3. "Worst Year" Stanley's good-natured but bumbling efforts to assist with reconstruction efforts always cause damage.

4. "How I Met Your Maker" The character who I believe had a very justifiable death in Season Two narrates a new story each week in which this character relates various close encounters with death that occurred before the actual death.

5. "Two-and-a-half Farmers" Jake and Eric buy a farm and run it with the surly unappealing teenage boy that Jake discovered that he fathered before he left Jericho the first time.

6. "Kansas" Townsfolks break into "Oklahoma" style musical numbers as they try to rebuild their lives. "My crops may be aglowin', but that don't stop the raiders from showin'."

I hope that you enjoyed this attempt at both light and dark humor, and I would love to hear some of your suggestions. Please feel free to add comments to this entry or e-mail me at tvdvdguy@gmail.com.

Please visit the original site of John's article, hey even his picture is there! ;)

November 20, 2008

Dear Affiliate:

We are now two and a half months into our new season and some terrific progress has been made.

Our strategy this year was to focus on Monday-Friday, particularly the early part of the week. Clearly that strategy has worked, as we are up in our key demographic of women 18-34 by 150% Monday and 41% on Tuesday. "Top Model" continues to shine Wednesdays, winning its time period on a regular basis, while "Smallville" and "Supernatural" continue to keep us in the game on Thursday versus tough competition. Additionally, we have improved our 18-49 demos by 78% Monday and 8% Monday-Thursday.

In the process, we are building a distinct and powerful brand of young-female skewing programming with new shows like "Gossip Girl" and "90210" complementing veteran hits "One Tree Hill" and "Top Model."

As you know, to focus our efforts on the earlier part of the week, we entered into a time buy agreement with Media Rights Capital to program Sunday night. While this move has clearly paid dividends for the overall schedule, the results on Sunday night have been below expectations. The MRC shows are simply not working.

To that end, we have made a business and programming decision to protect our network and your local interests on Sunday for the remainder of the season.

The programs from Media Rights Capital will have their final airing this Sunday, November 23, 2008. Effective November 30, 2008, The CW will resume programming Sunday nights.

Our plan is to program Sunday with distinctive, first-rate programming that can quickly stabilize the night. We will work with you to promote and market this new night, with a lineup that will include quality scripted series and contemporary theatrical titles. Here is the lineup:

5:00 – 6:00 p.m.: EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS/THE GAME
6:00 – 7:00 p.m.: THE DREW CAREY SHOW
7:00 – 8:00 p.m.: JERICHO
8:00 – 10:00 p.m.: MOVIE

Our Affiliate Relations and Affiliate Marketing teams will be in immediate touch with your personnel regarding this important schedule change.

We will continue to work diligently and find success via the best means possible and move quickly to shore up troubled timeslots. We will continue to invest in new programming that will evolve into valued primetime assets for you, our affiliates, and our parent companies, CBS and Warner Bros.

We appreciate the partnership we have with you, our affiliates, and we will continue to work closely to take our success to the next level.

Sincerely,

John D. Maatta

Jericho fans, rejoice.

The CW has dumped its Sunday night programming by Media Rights Capital and will replace it with various repeats including the canceled CBS fan favorite "Jericho," reports Broadcasting & Cable.

Just a note to inform everyone there will be no more blog updates regarding Jericho from here on out, because there simply isn't any news on the show itself. In the event Jericho is revived in some form, you can expect the blog to start back up as well as receive news bulletins.

The campaign still continues so please check the CBS.com message board as well as Save Jericho Again for the latest news within the fandom.

There are some great new shows out there as well as some returning favorites!

First and foremost, CW shows Smallville and Supernatural are back and better than ever. Sci Fi fans of 'The X-files and 'Fear Itself' may take to FOX's new show - Fringe. FX gives us the last season of  The Shield and the first (of hopefully) many seasons of the outlaw motorcycle club - Sons of Anarchy (did I mention Sprague Grayden [Heather, Jericho] is part of the cast?). Blood Ties/Moonlight/Buffy/Angel fans - are you feeling a little bloodthirsty? Then check out HBO's new vamp show (which I love already) - True Blood. HBO has already ordered a second season only three episodes in, so it's safe to invest yourself. That's what fans like to hear!

Last but not least - Heroes returns - TONIGHT!

Sales matter, even now. The canceled TV show 'The Family Guy' was the top selling DVD in 2003 with 1.6 million in initial sales. Another batch of DVD's went on store shelves and another 1 million sales were tabulated. Fox was impressed and 'The Family Guy' was ordered back into production. It was the first time a TV show was brought back based solely on DVD sales. Supporting your show by buying the DVD's certainly does matter.

Jericho Season Two is now on store shelves, just waiting for you to pick it up!

Season Two Only
Best Buy: $24.99

Amazon:
$21.99
Target: $21.99
Walmart: $21.86  **best price!
Blockbuster: $22.99
CBSstore.com: $24.95

"The Complete Series" - Season One & Two bundled
Best Buy: $59.99
Amazon: $56.98
Target: $48.99
Walmart: $48.86  **best price!

Also on itunes, the CBS.com website, E-bay and virtually everywhere else you can think of. Of course these are just base prices, I have no idea if you have Best Buy Rewards Zone coupons to use, an employee discount, etc, you get the idea.

The special features on the DVD include deleted scenes, commentary, that elusive alternate ending and two featurettes - "
Rebuilding" & "Nut Job".

It's been canceled twice, but that's not going to stop some of the strongest fans of the CBS series "Jericho" from trying to bring it back from the grave again.

Jericho Rangers have raised more than $6,000 to purchase television advertising in the Los Angeles area as a way to generate some new buzz on the show that had an abbreviated run last year as producers continue to try and find a network or cable company interested in keeping the story of a Kansas town following a nuclear attack alive.

The ad was produced by a fan known as "RubberPoultry" and began airing Thursday in a 10-day run on Time Warner cable in the Los Angeles area that is expected to be included in such shows as "Ghost Hunters" on SciFi Channel, "Deadliest Catch" on Discovery Channel, and other programs on the History Channel. It's narrated by Brad Beyer, the actor who played Stanley Richmond in the series.

Fans said they chose Time Warner because it has 97 percent market penetration in the Los Angeles area and advertising officials there worked with the Rangers to "create a schedule that complements other fans' media efforts and maintains awareness of support for the show, its cast & crew."

The same fans have already funded an ad in the trade publication Variety and recently purchased space on a billboard in downtown Los Angeles.

The ads will air in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and the San Fernando Valley.

Lots of things Jericho have been going on this month. Let's review -

First and foremost, you're still writing CBS Paramount, right? Okay, thought so. Let's add Comcast to the list since they have expressed interest in Jericho!

Jerichon 2008 was held this past weekend. This was the second annual Jerichon held in Oakley, Kansas. Shaun O'Mac was back reporting live and fans are reporting the festivities were great. There was even a public marriage proposal between fans - congrats to xrammy and jennyp!

Jericho fans have again purchased print Ads in The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. A total that cost $11, 215! Fans are not giving up or slowing down. Read more on this here - http://alasjericho.com/alas_jericho/2008/05/sell-jericho-variety-hollywood.html

More grassroots money went out when fans purchased a Billboard which will be up for the next month. The cost of the Billboard was $7500 and it's located on Ventura Blvd in Studio City, CA.

How awesome is that? The irony here is that the billboard is owned by CBS.
Go out and take your own pictures, make a video! If you need a little help finding it - the address for that 7 Eleven is 11007 Ventura Blvd... -->-->.. -->--> .. -->-->.. -->-->.. -->-->.. -->-->.. -->-->.. -->-->Studio City, CA 91604

What's next you may ask? How about a commercial? (This is just a teaser video and not the final result but the effort to make this a reality IS underway!)
rubber poultry is simply amazing.

Thursday, May 15, 2008
NEW YORK -- CBS Entertainment chief Nina Tassler chuckled Wednesday when a reporter asked if she's prepared for the onslaught of mail from "Moonlight" fans upset about the show's cancellation.

"It had a very passionate fanbase, and that's a good thing," Tassler said. "We just had to make a lot of tough calls."

One of those calls was not renewing "Moonlight," the rookie drama about a vampire (Alex O'Loughlin) and his star-crossed relationship with a mortal woman (Sophia Myles). The show performed OK in its Friday home this season, averaging a shade under 7.5 million viewers per week. It was, however, the weakest performer in CBS' Friday lineup; "Ghost Whisperer" drew 8.7 million viewers and "Numb3rs" 9.1 million.

Tassler says the fact that "Jericho" failed to improve its ratings this year following a massive fan campaign to un-cancel it influenced the network's decision to some degree.

"It was a factor, obviously," she acknowledges. "But the nice thing [about 'Moonlight'] is that it did have a loyal fanbase. ... But it's hard to judge the actual numbers" of those who are actively trying to save the series.

"We had to make a very tough decision," she adds. "I loved that vampire -- what can I tell ya?"

Tassler also put the kibosh on a report that The CW is interested in picking up the show as part of its farmed-out Sunday schedule, which is being programmed by independent producer Media Rights Capital. "Probably not, no," was Tassler's response to a question about the rumored move.

The CW unveiled the titles of two comedies and two dramas for Sunday night at its upfront party Tuesday night; "Moonlight" wasn't among them.

http://www.zap2it.com/tv/news/zap-cbscancelsmoonlight,0,6764293.story

On Wednesday (May 14) morning, CBS announced a primetime 2008-09 schedule that sees the network expanding to a second night of comedy and scattering a trio of new dramas around the schedule.

As expected, CBS has ordered the new dramas "Eleventh Hour," "The Mentalist" and "The Ex List" plus new comedies "Project Gary" and "Worst Week" for the fall, while the horror-drama "Harper's Island" is set for midseason.

With 18 shows returning to the strongly performing network, CBS has a fair amount of scheduling stability, so the biggest shift may be in returning comedies to Wednesday night after a season of keeping laughter as a Monday-only thing.

Monday will still feature a two-hour comedy block on the network, with "The Big Bang Theory," "How I Met Your Mother" and "Two and a Half Men" returning to their current time slots, leading into the relationship comedy "Worst Week," which stars Kyle Bornheimer and Erinn Hayes. "CSI: Miami" will still anchor the night.

The addition of "Worst Week" to Mondays has allowed CBS to move "The New Adventures of Old Christine" over to Wednesdays, where it will combine with the Jay Mohr sitcom "Project Gary" for a new comedy block leading into returning hits "Criminal Minds" and "CSI: NY."

"We've been looking to expand our comedy lineup, and we now have the depth and development to make the move," says CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler in a statement. "Monday is already television's signature night for comedy and we think we can make the case that CBS is the signature network for comedy overall."

CBS' schedule hasn't had many problem spots in recent years, but the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour has been a show-killer lately. To that end, CBS is transplanting "Without a Trace," a proven hit with a track record on both Thursday and Sunday nights, into the hour. "Without a Trace" will have the first-year drama "The Mentalist," featuring CBS regular Simon Baker, as its lead-in.

The network has also had difficulties on Friday nights at 9 p.m. where "Close to Home" was cancelled despite solid ratings two years ago and where "Moonlight" was just canned despite a passionate -- albeit tiny, by CBS standards -- audience. CBS hopes that "The Ex List," a romantic dramedy featuring Elizabeth Reaser, will prove successful sandwiched between "Ghost Whisperer" and "Numb3rs."

One place CBS doesn't need to worry about ratings is the Thursday night 10 p.m. slot after "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." That plum hour has been given to "The Eleventh Hour," a scientific mystery from producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

In addition to "Without a Trace" and "The New Adventures of Old Christine," the other CBS show to switch time slots is "The Unit," which leaves Tuesday for Sundays, where it will have under-the-radar hit "Cold Case" as its lead-in.

Beyond "Harper's Island," CBS has also ordered "Rules of Engagement" for midseason.

Personally, I will not watch any new show on CBS - comedy or otherwise. They continue to cancel great shows that have loyal audiences yet they have a track record for not fighting against the outdated nielsen numbers - which continue to rule the industry. So, sorry Jericho producers, I won't even be giving Harpers Island a chance. You can thank CBS.
