I recently discovered that even though Jonas is afternoon preschool, he still recites the pledge of allegiance. I had no idea.
Happy Inauguration Day!

So I have been setting myself up for failure, because that is how I am. I have been very blasé about it, and it was bugging Josh because every five minutes he would ask me if I am excited about going to college. Well, I went today and it actually wasn't too bad. I didn't get my book because the bookstore wasn't open. The professor(algebra) seems very nice and explains things how I will understand them. In only one class I had several light bulb moments about prime numbers and fractions, wishing I had learned this way back in high school. Though, in high school, I would have never been mature enough to learn this way. I still have to really study multiplication facts, because I am so so so rusty... math is NOT my strength.

So I got my books during a break & after standing in line, they told me I needed my student ID to charge them to my financial aid. I put them back, then went to stand in another line(across campus) to get my student ID card. Afterward, I went back to get my algebra books. After class I went again back to the bookstore for the 3rd time to get my other books. I didn't have a printout of my classes so I marched myself over to the library(across campus) to print it out & visited the bookstore a fourth time to get the rest of them.

When I got home I finally felt excited. My MIL called to ask how it went, and it felt good to know that her and her Fiancé are rooting for me. This is the first time I have driven out of our little town by myself and we have lived here since October!  I also filled up the tires with air before I went, which seems stupid and small, but since I have met Josh he has always taken care of the car maintenance. It was really cold out this morning but it warmed up and actually felt kinda nice outside by the time class was over. My next classes are Anthropology, English and then Art. I know it is silly to be giddy over retail therapy, but I get to buy myself a new notebook & pencil case and although it is small purchases, it makes me happy. We also have to buy printer cartridges, but that doesn't conduct the same elation.

Humeur actuelle :  débordant de joie
What do you like best? Explain.

1. Pancakes
2. Waffles
3. Crepes
4. French Toast
5. Other

For Christmas breakfast we had French Toast. It was yummy!

I got a pair of nylon-y yoga pants from Aunt Mary. Weird because I have been wearing cotton ones and they are cheap and fade easily & I wished for nylon ones. The nylon will look less worn, in theory. This will be nice for going to the YMCA.

Kids have been playing in their room ever since receiving their gifts. This is the most time they have ever spent in there. Good indication that Christmas was a success.

This is the dollhouse that Josh built for Trinity. She was very proud to receive this gift. She couldn't believe he MADE it for her.

Marina *visited* from S. Korea. I joked that we should have set
her on the bar and propped up a body underneath her.

Aunt Ashlee called, she is back in Washington State from S. America.

I am thinking about this dollhouse for Trinity for Xmas and this toolset thing for Jonas. Of COURSE they are only available online, so I will have to order them soon, but I think Trinity will love building something like that with Josh(and I) and collecting all the accessories over time and Jonas has pointed out tool set type things in every Sunday paper ad. I think Toys R Us has the toolset in the store, but it is more expensive and their dollhouses are WAY expensive there.

I was also thinking about getting a few calico critters for the dollhouse, but I am not sure size wise how that would go. Any one have any thoughts?

Anyway, I asked Josh about it, and he thinks that Jonas would be more interested in getting a nice haul of Lego's... which I think he may be right about that one.

Here are a few pics from Halloween:

This one is forever going to remind me of Life Is Beautiful when little Joshua leaps out of the cupboard to scare his mama in his underwear.

Oct302008_4780
This was actually the day before Halloween, the gloves where much dirtier on the day of.

Oct302008_4782
I know it is a terrible pic, but look at those eyes. awww.

Oct302008_4793
Mama-mia!!! He was really resistant to get his pics taken. haha.

Oct312008_4745
On Halloween I chaperoned Trinity and her two classmates at the Zoo. We didn't go in the penguin area. It was too stinky and dark.

Oct312008_4748
Carousel rides are free before 10 am! I didn't even know there WAS a carousel. :)

Oct312008_4756
We had a snack by the flamingos and storks. I also had no idea there where flamingos.

Oct312008_4759
Witchy!

Oct312008_4765
She WANTED to look like this! hehe. "Mom, I need like, I big zit on my head!!!"

Oct312008_4767
Then she got on her broom and flew away!

Passing by again for another photo op.

I have been taking a hiatus from the internet the last month. Partly because our home computer was fried by the bad wiring at our new apartment & Josh needs the laptop for work, and because I just need it. I spend way too much time on here.

I lost one very important person on myspace, so S* if you read this, I know we where not friends long, but if you get another myspace, I hope you add me again. Hopefully I can get on here more and update!!

Thanks to everyone who is buying up sale stuff! Your support is tremendous. I have been eye-ing the necklace Megan McCain has been wearing on the trail and it reminds me of a Leviticus piece, or maybe Holy Ghost Jewelry. Either way, aside from the obvious point that I am not a McCain supporter, I love this piece. Lincoln was awesome. Her necklace rocks... end of story.

Edited: You can find this rad piece of jewelry over at Tarina Tarantino

Jonas looks on longingly. "Daddy, I pway Zwelba two???"

Sep292008_4370
He likes to wear this sweater with out a shirt underneath and with the hood up.
He will take the shirt off, and then put the hoody back on.  I guess he is hot.

Sep282008_4341
We where going to hang these up in their new room as we had them before...

Sep282008_4342
Since it's been a little cooler outside, Jonas was begging to wear his hanbok that Marina brought him from S. Korea.

Sep282008_4343
Then they proceeded to jump on the bed.

Sep282008_4346
Pose, pretend and be generally silly.

Sep282008_4347
He was actually bowing and saying "thankyou, thankyou" in a deep voice.

Sep282008_4348
I tried to record him, but not with out hearing myself saying unauthentically "Say thankyou again!!!" cause it was cute. haha.

Sep282008_4351
ready to pounce!

Josh posted some of the pictures we took at the balloon glow in St. Louis. It is held in the park where the held the 1904 Worlds Fair(Washington Park) We ended up leaving after about an hour or so. We got to see several of the balloons inflated and we where handed a few trading cards, which the kids dug.

The race was today and the energizer bunny balloon goes ahead of the rest, stops somewhere and makes a giant X on the ground and when the other balloons go over it, they drop beanbags onto the X.

"It difficult to get a man to understand something when his salary depends on his not understanding it" -Upton Sinclair
...or a woman.

Are You Experienced
If you can just get your mind together
Uh-then come on across to me
Well hold hands and then well watch the sunrise
From the bottom of the sea
But first, are you experienced?
Uh-have you ever been experienced-uh?
Well, I have
(well) I know, I know, youll probably scream and cry
That your little world wont let you go
But who in your measly little world, (-uh)
Are you tryin to prove to that youre
Made out of gold and-uh, cant be sold
So-uh, are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced? (-uh)
Well, I have
Uh, let me prove it to you, yeah
Trumpets and violins I can-uh, hear in the distance
I think theyre callin our name
Maybe now you cant hear them,
But you will, ha-ha, if you just
Take hold of my hand
Ohhh, but are you experienced?
Have you ever been experienced?
Not necessarily stoned, but beautiful

"Mom, can I have a Bratz doll?" our six year old asks. The answer is always no. I am not considered a very conservative person, but when it comes to our daughter and pop culture, I feel a lot like Madonna. The pop singer, of course. The rules of inappropriateness is a skewed version of the age old saying "Do as I say not as I do" because while I am not necessarily in pasties dancing on a stage singing "Like a Virgin" I am an adult. There are various contradictions when it comes to the rules. I do not buy tiny high heels for her. She can wear high heels when she dresses up for the prom. We have played with makeup, but she doesn't wear makeup-she can barely manage to wear Dr. Pepper flavored chap stick because when ever we buy it, it somehow magically ends up in the dryer leaving really fun grease spots that only Palmolive & a toothbrush can take out.

Those clothes, that I so lovingly restore to their natural chapped selves are usually unbranded. When I met my husband I was wearing a bright red adidas shirt. Though I wasn't necessarily a mallrat, I frequently wore Roxy Quiksilver, Rusty and whatever other brands where popular seven years ago. He snowboarded, but aside from a pair of goggles and his snowboard(which he fixed with alterations), he was against labels. He figured if they aren't paying him to promote their product, why should he? This somehow resonated with me, especially after all the money that went down the drain just to have a label. If the clothes where made well enough, the label was more respected for being discreet anyway. This is how we dress ourselves and this is how we dress our kids & in some ways having an autonomous wardrobe is just as important as being age appropriate.
