Rescue is such a beautiful word. It means to free or deliver from confinement, violence, danger, or evil. That's good. I know a lot people are down on religion. I am tired of religion, to be frank. But when I read about Jesus-he's real, ya know? I read about how he came because people didn't know what God was like. He was just like God so people could see and know about God. In coming, he loved people and accepted everybody who wanted to be around him. The kind of people who followed him around were prostitutes and guys who liked to party and people who had been rejects, people who lived all kinds of lives. I mean some of these people were searching for God and some were running from God, didn't want anything to do with him. But when they saw Jesus and how he healed people and accepted people, it changed them. The people who used sex like a drug started seeing that they were worth a lot more than they had thought and didn't want to use and be used anymore. The people who had cheated others wanted to give back what they had taken. These people weren't changing because Jesus came along and guilted them into change and they weren't trying to fit in with the religious people either. The religious leaders didn't like Jesus. And like some of the religious people today, they turned away the people who needed God most. We were so far away from God and couldn't get to him so he came to us. Isn't that amazing? He came to where we are and rescued us. Some people don't like the word sin, but it just means brokeness. We were born broken and unable to get to God so he came here to save us. Then when Jesus died, he took all our brokeness on himself so we could have direct access to God. Finally the Creator could be with his creation because of what the Son did. When Jesus was brought back to life after being dead for three days, he joined his Father in heaven. On top of rescuing us he wants us to know him and to love him and for us to see how much he loves us. He wants to give us peace and make beauty out the messes we've made. It's all good news. The bible says if you say that Jesus is the Son of God outloud and and believe it, you can have the life Jesus came to give. Believing him and believing in him is where relationship with him starts. When that happens you can talk to him and he hears you. Maybe I've oversimplified things, but I think someties we try to make it too complocated. There is a lot to it. I mean there's a lot of depth and beauty and truth that can not be explained in a little blog. I just wanted to include this in my blog because I thought if you hadn't heard, you might want to know. That's it.
