Zombies walk in reality.

They don't see what I see.

Love lives lost, it's lost to them.

The end begins, begins the end.

They don't know that they're dead.

Lies, deception fill thier heads.

Tring to live a life that's killed.

Living life, lives unfulfilled.

Unreal is real, all make believe.

Eyes not open, just decieved.

Eating dust, dust is flesh

with no blood there's nothing left.

Drained all out, out within.

Empty shells no one wins.

There is no race, no race to run.

The runnings done, the race is won.

The end begins begins the end.

Love lives lost, it's lost to them.

The walk outside is inside layed.

It cost you nothing the price is paid

The Story of ing
Waking, walking,sleeping, talking
I'm running, jumping over nothing.
Going under passing over
rolling by on my shoulder.
Wishing, hoping, twisting, roping
all of my things that mean something.
Tossing them into a huge ring
flames come and consume me.
gnashing, biting, screaming, fighting
all that's in me feels like dying.
Saying, Praying, singing, laying
in the bed that I've been making.
Moving, sitting, choosing, hitting
all the goals of just believing
waiting for the one who's filling
everything that I've been missing.

There are two different kinds of dancers those that imitate history, and those that make history.

It takes skill to imitate what someone else does. Imitation they say is the highest form of flattery, and perhaps that's true. In the beginning of every young dancers journey, you tend to find someone on the dance floor that you want to be like. You may like there style, the confidence they have, or maybe just the amazing quality of dance they bring to the floor. You may also get caught up with finding vintage footage of the great dancers who started it all, or the ones that made it shine and emulating them. All of these are classic learning tools. I completely recommend however learning the proper technique from trained professionals, Especially if you are planning on taking your feet off the floor and trying an Ariel. I see way to many people trying to execute a complex Ariel with no knowledge about the proper frame, balance or technique involved in keeping the move, not only looking good, but SAFE. So many people forget the concept. Safety First.

But the problem with imitation, is that it can only take you so far. Once you've learned how to dance like someone else, that's all you've done. Now you look like Dean, Frankie, Shorty or whom ever it is that you immortalize on the dance floor. So now what? You may end up looking good on the dance floor, but what do you have? Eventually you must get to the point where imitation isn't enough. Yes you could just find someone better or different to copy, but what fun is that? It may be a challenge and even benefit your dancing in the long run, but until you look beyond what others do, and start looking into the possibilities of what you can do, you're going to run into a wall.

For those dancers that have hit that wall and bounced back, they find the world of creativity and they begin the journey towards individualism on the dance floor. Think about the greats. Frankie Manning didn't just copy Shorty George on the dance floor, he stole what he did and made it his own. He created something different than everyone else, and that's what makes History. If Frankie would have just did what everyone else did, you most likely would have never heard about him. Or take Dean Collins for example, they have a style of Lindy called Deans Lindy, because the man created something different. Sugar Sullivan, Norma Miller, Ann Johnson and many other Fantastic Follows weren't just follows. They all had something beyond the dancing that made them shine.

Making History isn't something that most dancers shoot for when they hit the dance floor for the first time. They typically enjoy the music, the social aspects such as new friends and possible love interests. Some people just need to get out and be crazy sometimes. We get all kinds and types of people who come out for a number of different reasons, but having fun tends to lead them all. We like having fun, and not looking like a complete idiot on the dance floor is a big deal for a lot of dancers. (unless of course they like that sort of thing, I know i do from time to time, ha ha) So all most everyone starts with the imitation trend, which either brings you to the realization you could do more or you start getting discouraged or bored with your dancing. Dean didn't learn someone Else's style, he just danced, the same with all the greats. They dance and people can see the love that they have and the joy that they get from dancing and that's what makes this one of the greatest dances around. Lindy Hop revolutionized the world with it's creativity and endless possibilities, but then people started putting it in a box. When that happens, that's when greatness fades and you'll always be looking back at those Amazing dancers from the 30's and 40's wondering why people can't be that cool anymore. Because when you start to limit what people can do with there dancing, then you start to kill the thing you loved the most about it to begin with. If you don't let yourself grow as a dancer, and as an individual on the dance floor, sharing 3 minutes with someone on the dance floor will eventually become something you used to do when you were younger.
