If you're wondering what happens next in the saga of Hallowmere, your wait has ended! Book 2, By Venom's Sweet Sting, is now in all bookstores--you can find it at any chain or independent, and if they don't have it, they'll love to order it for you.

As Corrine falls for Euan, the Unhallowed creep in.

Following the destruction of Falston and the loss of the rathstone, nothing can keep Corrine safe. The Fey have spies everywhere. And they are determined to find Corrine wherever she may hide.

With no options left, the Council of Elaphe takes Corrine and the rest of the Falston girls to Scotland where they can fight the Fey on their own terms. As the Council struggles to come up with a battle plan, the girls become immersed in preparations for their first ball. There, a mysterious young man soothes Corrine's heartache and she begins to let down her guard -- perhaps sooner than she should. For there is a new danger lurking on the Scottish moors, a danger more sinister than any Corrine has faced before.

Stop on by author Tiffany Trent's blog and let her know what you think of it when you've finished reading!

Anthology features lost story of Hallowmere!

This weekend I'm off to Philadelphia for ALA Midwinter. I'm on the Publisher's Liaison Committee for YALSA, so I get to see the inner workings of the committees this year and to go to some booksignings in the Random House booth for Magic in the Mirrorstone, the anthology of fantasy short stories we're releasing in February. It's edited by Steve Berman and features 15 wonderful stories by 15 amazing authors, like Holly Black, Gregory Frost, Tiffany Trent, Cecil Castellucci, Cassandra Clare, Jim C. Hines, and on and on. If you like short stories, check it out. Hey, even if you don't like short stories, there's plenty to love--Cecil Castellucci's first foray into fantasy, a "lost story" of Hallowmere, unicorns, frogs, a voodoo princess... and more, of course. (Twoo wuv, mawage...)

And of course, if you're going to BE at Midwinter, make sure to come looking for a signed copy of Magic in the Mirrorstone. Gregory Frost and Holly Black are having independent signings, and several others, including Ann Zeddes, Lawrence Schoen, and anthology editor Steve Berman (the reason the whole thing exists!) will be around signing stock, so you might just be able to get a copy with several authors' John Hancocks!

Mirrorstone does not have a booth at Midwinter this year, so go looking for copies at the Random House booth, 1231.

Here's the schedule:

11:00AM—12:00PM – Gregory Frost (Shadowbridge & Magic in the Mirrorstone) signs copies of his book in the RH Booth 1231

11:00AM—12:00PM – Holly Black (Magic in the Mirrorstone) signs copies of her book in the RH Booth 1231

Mirrorstone is proud to be a corporate sponsor of Teen Read Week. We know how important literacy and reading for fun is for children and teens and recognize the work of librarians in making this possible.

To celebrate Teen Read Week, Hallowmere author Tiffany Trent will be in Seattle next week at YALSA's kickoff event at Washington Middle School. Though that particular event won't be open to the public, she will be in the area dropping into bookstores--look for signed copies of Hallowmere at All for Kids and The Secret Garden as well as your local chain stores--and she'll be doing an official signing event at the new Barnes and Noble at Northgate Mall on Tuesday night, Oct. 16.

The info on the signing:

Realms of Fantasy reviewer Michael Jones recently highlighted In the Serpent's Coils in the October issue of the magazine, alongside several other excellent picks of new young adult fantasy. Go pick up a copy and look on p. 28, where he says that "In the Serpent's Coils is a moody, atmospheric story, full of ghosts and dark imagery, magic and mystery, which will keep readers guessing right up until the very last page."

We're very glad RoF enjoyed it! And we hope you will too--go check your local bookstore tomorrow, when In the Serpent's Coils is officially in bookstores.

If you're not familiar with Readergirlz yet, go check them out. They're here on MySpace, too. They're a literacy project started by four YA authors who talk about YA books--especially books that feature gutsy girls--and host YA author chats on their site. This month they've been featuring Holly Black.

Come October, the month of Teen Read Week, the Divas will be hosting a different author every day, including Tiffany Trent. They've got a poster and bookmarks for you to download and share, and the lineup is a good one.

Readergirlz is a literacy project founded by four female authors - Justina Chen Headley, Lorie Ann Grover, Dia Calhoun and Janet Lee Carey - in an effort to encourage teenagers to read and discuss quality books featuring gusty girls, and to get active in their communities. In the Serpent's Coils by Tiffany Trent is currently featured as one of the fall 2007 Booksense Picks. (You'll have to scroll down to the section "For Teen Readers.") The listing reads:

IN THE SERPENT'S COILS, by Tiffany Trent (Mirrorstone, $8.95 paper, 9780786942299 / 0786942290) "Who do you trust? That's what 15-year-old Corinne asked when she started having the dreams, and thought her world was ending. The Fey gave her everything she wished for. But when she is sent to boarding school, she is confused by her surroundings and the people she interacts with. Did they follow her there? Why are the teachers so harsh on the students? A gripping, magical book -- you'll be dying to read the next book in the series (but not if the Fey have their way)." --Cassandra Helms, Constellation Books, Reisterstown, MD

Thanks to Cassandra of Constellation books for liking Serpent's Coils!

Have a Happy Hallow-wii!

Keep an eye on our site for more details as Teen Read Week comes closer. Teens who band together to make something digital and Hallowmere-related (such as a fan site, a book trailer, and anything else on the web that falls within the guidelines we'll be putting up) can win a Wii for their library. There's also going to be an individual side of the contest, with the prize of an iPod for the best entry.

Win a Visit with Tiffany Trent

For librarians, tell YALSA about your Teen Read Week programs and you can win a visit from Hallowmere author Tiffany Trent! More info at the YALSA site. Contest begins Sept. 1 and runs through Nov. 30.

The Hidden Contests

Teensreadtoo.com has a great contest going on right now! You could win an autographed copy of In the Serpent's Coils. It involves finding answers on Tiffany's site, www.tiffany-trent.com, so be prepared for some detective work.
