Alright, so this is the end of the Bri Blogs for Freshman 15. ::tear:: no but really, I'm going to miss it all. BUT it has taught me a whole lot and I hope you've learned something from me along the way. My last pieces of advice:

-buy a video camera and document your life. Edit them and make them your own. Videos are PRICELESS. but make sure you know when to put it away and live in the moment too.

-you don't need (i repeat, DO NOT need) to be in a relationship. Being on your own ---you have a chance to mingle and get to know yourself and lots of other people. DONT GET TIED DOWN (until you know it's what you want) aka...don't rush into anything... give it time.

-do your dishes right after you use them. and make sure everyone else does the same.

-If you buy your own car, make sure it has at least 30 miles per gallon---save yourself the money. GAS is EXPENSIVE, kids.

-See an opportunity? Go for it. Given a chance? RUN WITH IT!

-Keep your chin up.

-Send cards for birthdays, mothers day, fathers day valentines, st. patricks day, halloween, Groundhog day, ANYTHING! Family and friends appreciate the little acts of kindness. A LOT.

Good luck to you all!

And keep in Touch. (myspace.com/brisings)

Peace and Love,

Bri

Tonight was a lot of fun. Opening night for the show I'm crewing and then a little cast party get together with free food afterwards. Wooo!

So during my downtime tonight during the show I came up with a list of stuff I want:

(commonly known as a wish list)

-revolving tie rack (and NO, I don't plan on using it for TIES. I'd hang my tank tops on it. I think it's GENIUS)
-a macbook (my ibook is so old and angry...plus the battery got recalled years ago and I never sent mine in to be replaced. shoot.)
-GUITAR (I need to start practicing again. my calluses have practically disintegrated.)
-Laundry Separater (I discussed this in a previous blog--the three slot laundry sorter. brilliant!)
-CAR (one with at least 30 mpg. this list is no particular order, btw.)
Pedal for my keyboard (because it doesnt have one and I want it to have one)
-exercise clothes (because maybe then I will work out more. which i will need to do if i plan to prance around on stage in a bathing suit in January for a show. ew. but true.)
-ihome (because, well honestly, macs volume levels SUCK. and I need something to blast my tunes on.)

I'd also like a million dollars. But I was trying to be semi realistic.

everyone please notice there is no boy on my list. neither on the realistic nor the out-of-reach list.

but i mean, I guess it couldn't HURT ;)

got a couple of pictures for y'all.

Ya know, sometimes I feel confused about what has or hasn't happened recently. Thinking about the way people drift in and out of our lives.... and how sometimes we don't have control over that. Sometimes it's a good thing that they leave... sometimes it's bad. Sometimes it just is. and sometimes it doesn't make sense. And you wonder how long it will be before that person decide to drop you a line... because they've got a new song they want your ears to hear. But if that line never comes.... and that one way ticket never makes it into a song lyric. hm. Well, is that just way the cookie crumbles? I realize I am making only about 10% sense right now. Just trying to sort out between the fact that I am doing well....and the fact that I lost of friend of sorts for reasons unknown.

anyway. here's the pictures from Buddy Holly cast party (playing Guitar Hero)

battling with my step sis, Olivia

(notice Jelani inbetween them in the background...being the diva that he is. HAHA)

FROM LAST YEAR---

Today I went to the Graduation at my old high school. It's so weird watching the seniors graduating and realizing I was in their place just a year ago. How much has changed and remained the same since then? It's impossible to measure. But seeing the looks on their faces---- the mixed joy and sadness, the realization that all the crazy stresses and dramatic fights they experienced were now just grains of sand in their journey--- that the friendships and memories are jewels they will carry with them forever. Tis a beautiful thang, my friends, tis a beautiful thing.

My high school is a pretty cool place. I hope someday I will have a daughter to send there. My four years at Santa Catalina helped shape who I am today--- I credit much of my determination, eloquence, and confidence to the students and faculty I met there who challenged me to reach my full potential.

So even though Sister Christine ("sis chris") chastised me when I didn't stand for the pledge, and even though I never got a "just give me this copy" stamp from Mr. Oder... and even though I never got gold cord (missed it by .02 point! ahhh!).....

I truly adore my alma mater.

Congrats to the class of '08.

Throwing up those rose petals. Man. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

May 30, 2008 - Friday
people lie.
and I don't know why.

but anyway.
so what did I do today? WELL....

I woke up WAY too early to play a round of outdoor hockey with my little nephews. Then joined them and my dad for a trip to Toys'R'Us. After, I went to say bye to my stepsis and mom who headed back to Granite Bay tonight. Took a swing by Ross to kill some time before rehearsal. Bought a dress for the graduation I'm going to on Saturday. Went to rehearsal. rehearsed. Went home. Picked up Wesley (and said hi to Vita).... went to see "Night on Broadway" at Monterey High. Saw lots of friends. ALMOST went to Denny's but then Derek couldn't go (someone needs to notify his mom that he's 18) so Wesley and I opted out. Came home and ate delicious leftovers. (I was SOO hungry.)

And now I am sitting here wondering what lovely adventures tomorrow has in store for me.

you should text me.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!!!!
May 28, 2008 - Wednesday
My friend Ben saw his first shooting star.

Made me think of the first one I saw. I was, I believe, 12 years old. I was at the Fishermens wharf walking and looking up at the sky when I saw it. And I wished that my friend Lianna would get better (at the time she was pretty sick... she has a condition that makes her weak and more vulnerable to illness)

And when I was on a houseboat when I was 13....laying on the roof in my sleeping bag. Every single shooting star I saw that night, I wished that I would make friends in the new school and in the new town I was going to for 8th grade.

(I saved all my wishing for boys to like me back for tunnels, railroad tracks and eyelashes...in case you were wondering. haha)

So... what do you wish for?
May 26, 2008 - Monday
LOOONG day.

not in a bad way... just as in I've been awake for a very long time.

After staying up til around 2 last night, my step sis Olivia called and woke me up at 8 and dragged me to church with her. wooo.

Then I went to the theatre to catch the second half of the Buddy Holly matinee. Danced it up with Danny and Cece (ya know, those two from my blog earlier....that went to prom together?) Anyway...

Headed over to my friend Katharine's house after that--for her Graduation Party. Couldn't stay long but got to see a lot of familiar faces which was lovely.

So then I went back home and changed into a dress for a birthday dinner for one of the guys in our cast--Davitt. He plays Ritchie Valens (The guy who sings "La Bamba!)...I KNOW you know that song! Anyway, had to drive all the way to BIG SUR (quite a trek) and I arrived only to discover I was plenty overdressed. (stupid Jelani mislead me! grr!) haha. But his dad lent me a jacket so it worked out alright. Plus---free meal! pretty exciting!
