Hello, there!

We just wanted to let you know that we have some songs on process, but maybe it will take us a while to arrange them properly.

New demo songs are quite simples and recorded just with guitars. Faridee added them on our lastfm site, along with the full track list live recording from the presentation we had on October. All of them are free download.

Here are the lyrics from the new ones:

Septiembre
O. Mundo / K. Ceja

Sueños tan lentos y suaves envuelven tus labios

En tus ojos el amor se resistió, se volvió
Un murmullo que en tus labios escapó y se rompió

Secuencia
Atardecer veloz
Tan lento y suave como tú

Quiero sentir el amor que ocultas y murmuras
Sueños tan lentos y suaves envuelven tus labios

Somber days
F. Cruz

When I wait for you to come
all the madness, it is paused
I become bits of myself
all my smiles seem here to stay

Cause I thought that you would come
and the blur would fade away
I'd stand what I reflect
all I see would mirror there

And I wait for you to come
my blood pumps my heart at most
the sun shines, I melt away
hold the hopes, my spirits raise

But I know you will not come
chances are I made you up
still I wait, don't lose the faith
it feels lonely, I dream awake

And I wait for you to come…
even though you are far away
it's the sense that makes me stay
what I hold on to prevail

I just wait for you to come
cause to wait is all I know

Fragile
F. Cruz

Always filled up in joy, now I'm tempered by frost
I kept searching for peace, for now it is lost
wish there was some of it here left
my hope is fragile, I..m breaking again

Somewhere we lost the old warm shine
what we created now immobile lies
it turned out so big, like full moonlit sky
now it's a small teardrop, that fell from my eyes

Fragile the core
but I'm covered in thorns
Fragile my love
always claiming for more
So fragile my love
I'm about to give up

Winter ahead shows it's rumoring face
I'm not that strong willed to fight it again
needing my mind to once give it a rest
my weak body shivers, I'm stuck in this place

Where are they?
My true guiding stars
I can't see them
they are far from my sight
Who closed
their immaculate light?

My confusion is growing
it keeps coming like ice
when movements are slower
and heat goes afar

Fragile the core
but I'm covered in thorns
Fragile my love
always claiming for more
Fragile the most,
of the time I am lost
Fragile my love
it is burning me close

So fragile
always try not to show
but please dear fragile
don't ever
never ever let me
give the two, of us up

Check them out and let us know what you think.
We will keep you posted :)

Hello, everyone!

We have been a bit busy with other projects, but new music is coming soon. We are currently editing the entire Other Women's Stories show on audio and video; meanwhile, we leave you some of the songs we played for you that night:

Trollferd, by Kary Rueslatten
Hey, Jupiter, by Tori Amos
Pilot, by Kari Rueslatten
Running up that hill, by Kate Bush

As soon as the editing is done, we'll leave it available for downloading.

Thanks to Alex, from Mordor, and to Danny Heksolson, for recording the show :)

We'll keep you updated!
Cheers,
Karen

Faridee
(lyrics and design). When she started writting, I immediatly loved those first lines from "1 Intuition Flows". I told her back then (2004) that I would steal it to make a song, so I did it. The first version was recorded just with delayed guitars and a couple of voices, quite different than the final version we have here. Years passed and I started to work with more of her lyrics, so there are sleepy songs that are about wake up.

She is always working really hard to make publicity and artwork look perfect. Mariux (a good friend of us from Agentina and a great designer) has been always helping us with everything and supporting the project.

What I love about Faridee's writting is that she can use methaphores or very direct phrases that show very specific scenes and feeling, so you can expect beautiful lyrics for future songs, we have enough material now to add music.

Marcela (vocals, instrumentation, arrangements, and all recordings). Since we started to work on the first song this year, "Ambar", she thought of magical ideas to change it completely. The first version I did (2004) was also a guitar demo, and it became a progressive song when I recorded it with Ashlar in 2006, but for this final version, we could capture a very different sense for the whole structure. We wanted a very fragile atmosphere, but at the same time, it should have strong paths. We started recording the piano, then the voices, guitars, and finally we add a small drums line almost at the end of the song.

For Intuition Flows I had thought of dark melodies and an ebow line, instead of just a rhythm guitar, but we decided again to change everything, and I really liked the vision Marcela had since the beginning, more trippy. This was a very difficult song for us to arrange, specially on the drums line. We spent hours and hours trying to find the right sounds and accents for it, we actually "wrote" it note by note, and as soon as we finished that weekend, the first thing we did was calling Faridee and send her the song so she could give us her point of view, and she liked it very much :)

After we finished recording that session, we talked of preparing a small gig in Mexico City to introduce the project, also playing covers from our musical influences, specially Kari Rueslatten. To prepare the gig, we had to stop working on new songs, and after the gig, the girls and me were very busy with the tribute party for The Gathering, so we will continue recording until next year.

Marcela and me left some bases for new songs, they are called "Septiembre" (written and composed in 2005) and "Somber Days" (written by Faridee this year). We are working with more Faridee's lyrics ("Fragile" and "Dreamcatcher") and also with songs I wrote some years ago when I was on my very first musical project.

During the next months I will be working on these song bases while Marcela is finishing Stream of Passion's second album in Holland, so I think that in March, we will be recording these songs at Monterrey, and also editing the audio and videos from Other Women's Stories' gig, so we can put them here for downloading.

Thank you again to all our friends and the people supporting us, no matter the distance.

A big hug to all of you!! All the best for next year :D

We didn't have the chance to thank enough everyone supporting us since this project started. On October 19th we had the chance to express our feelings through music, and we were overwhelmet with the response of the audience and friends. We felt a very special magic between everyone in charge of making WitchCo.'s dream heard on stage:

Rodrigo (drums). He was the first on supporting this project, and never hesitate when I started to give him the cover and original songs. I met him while I was in other project of mine years ago: Slow Colours (rock). His band back then was Morrigan (speed metal), and we used to play together very often.

After this gig, he said he was really happy to be a part of the project, and that he felt honored by playing beside us, which was really sweet of him.

Gerardo (bass). He has been always supporting me, specially when we have put together most of Dark Rock's events, always helping me with technical stuff and backline, but now it was the time for him to play. He wasn't related to this kind of music, but he liked it a lot. I was very happy to finally play with him. He is a really nice and sensitive guy, and during rehearsals he worked his own bass lines, giving the songs a nice funky sense.

Maly (backing chorus). We started to work together since the 2nd The Gathering Tribute party, in 2005. She is a very kind girl and I have no doubts of her commitment everytime she has been supporting us with her band (Fractalia) or just herself. She was very excited when I told her about this project, and her  voice was the right fit for the songs using three voices.

Ario, a.k.a. Mazo (keyboards). When we were looking for a keyboard player, Maly suggested Mazo, a friend of her from the band Periadam. I sent him an e-mail and he replied saying he would love to join the project, and also that we could rehearse on his studio. I was very curious about the "real" sound of the songs once we assemble them, and Mazo was a very important piece of this puzzle, because he was correcting some structures and notes, which was a reflection of the time he used to study hard all these songs, and we all were very impressed with his very possitive attitude.

Jorge (guitar).Even when he just played some songs of the set, he came up with nice ideas for them. He has been very supportive on every event that Dark Rock has made since last year, also playing with the bands on those gigs a couple of times. He liked a lot the way this project was taking form.

We had a lot of fun during the gig, and all of us were really happy of working together, we felt so comfortably on the stage that I believe the audience also sense that magic feeling.

Thank you very much to all of you, guys, for being part of this!!

Lyrics by: Faridee Cruz

Running through the mist

You could see my face
Dried up in blame
Dried up in my pain

Must we feel time?
Shall we drink our lives?

Kill the air that chokes my rest
Free the pride that stars have shelled

Falling through the sins
You could see my shame
Tied up in regret
Tied up in my strength

Should we take time?
We´re drinking all our lives

Shell the pledge that chokes my name
Free the soul inside those veins
Free the stars... our fate is theirs !

Lyrics by: Karen Ceja

A veces pienso que el mar
Guarda secretos de mi
Al escuchar que tu voz
Se confunde entre tu y yo

A veces puedo sentir
Que entre los dos solo hay
Lagrimas que seguiran
Construyendo sombras atras

Cada momento encierra un lugar
Una pagina mas
Tu corazon se sumerge al sentir
Que cae el viento sobre ti

Entre las olas del mar
Crecen recuerdos y caen
Pero yo quiero escuchar
Que en tu historia no hay final

Y aunque tu voz desaparezca
Las palabras seran
Como la brisa eterna
Recorriendo el mar

A veces pienso que tu
Guardas secretos de mi
Al descubrir que tu voz
Forma parte de los dos

Rehearsals have started and we are having lots of fun on the sessions. I'm happy to say that the musicians that are going to be part of the show are also good friends, and we are glad to share the stage with them. Thank you guys!

Setlist for the show is almost ready to rock. We have worked separated to practice the songs on our own, and the time to put it all together has come.

Gerardo Rios is on the bass, Ario Garza on keyboards, Jorge Avarez on electric guitar, Rodrigo Díaz on drums, Maly Reyes on backing chorus, Marcela on main vocals and violin, and me on main vocals and acoustic and electric guitar. Marcela is not in Mexico City yet, but we are getting ready to rehearsal with her next week.

We have added some pictures of the rehearsal. More news on the way!
